Upon reaching the basement, the third and infamous level, Alex holds Ravine’s shaking hand. The girl couldn’t feel more secure than in his touch. She thanks him with a small voice.
“Now, where are they.”
“H-her parents are regis-” the other bouncer elbows him, for he was about to give away their real occupation down here.
“They’re in their cabin, Mr. Johnson. Would you like me to take you there?”
“Certainly.” Alex smirks. He fishes his phone out, Ravine looking at him with wide eyes.
“You’re Collecting proofs?”
“And sending them to Louis. He’s the master of management.” Ravine suppresses a smile.
“Here you are, sir.”
“Who the fuck-” the voice of an old man greets them. He seemed disrupted, he was filling in sachets of drugs alongside his wife.
Alex widens his eyes.
Ravine was too shocked to even move an inch.
“D-dad…?” She sees the male panicking as well.
“R-Ravine I-”
Alex shakes his head.
“You don’t deserve to stay with her anymore. I’m taking her with me.”
And there goes the arrest of Ravine and James Lee’s parents.
****
A week passes and Ravine agreed to staying with the Johnsons, even if it was for a while until issues settled down.
It was a Friday evening when Louis calls Dan and tells him about him dropping by for another weekend hangout with his siblings.
“Nice! I’ll call Georgina too!”
“Cool. I hope she’s learning trade well from you.” Louis says while sitting behind the wheel.
“Oh yeah. In fact I think I’m a great teacher!”
“Good, good. Do you guys want some take out?”
“Nah we’re cool, Louis. Just come home to Ms. Zee’s homemade food, aight?”
“Why are you talking like that? Sure, I’m coming straight home.” Louis chuckles as he hears the call being cut.
However, his car reads out a message that pops from the ‘unknown’ number.
[Hey] He looks at it, it was odd for the girl to text him at this hour. It was usually at midnight, everyday since.
[Hey] He texts back after a minute, at a stop signal.
[Oh, uh…]
[I thought we could meet someday]
Her text was making his heart race like a marathon.
[But you don’t know nothing abt me]
As he texts, the girl says.
[I don’t care. I need to talk to you now]
Louis was surprised to see her text, yet again, she was willing to meet him all too suddenly. He gave it a thought as other drivers honk behind him.
[Hang on. I’m coming to you] He texts.
In under a few minutes, his life has taken a u-turn.
“Whoa, where is he now?” The Johnson siblings were sat on the table. Ms. Zee and Georgina have cooked a meal together. Well, most of it was already done.
As for Georgina, her long orange hair has been cut to her shoulders. Cute side bangs made the 27 year old woman look younger than her teenage self. She blushes as Dan pulls her chair towards himself, his warm palm resting on her thigh as they prepared to eat.
“He said he will be home-”
“I’m home!” The man yells. Rushing to meet his siblings as few of them stand up to hug him, he walks towards Ms. Zee and hugs her as well.
“Hmm nice stew!”
“I made extra as they asked. Happy dinner boys and girls.”
“Thank you for today, Ms. Zee! Goodnight!” As Ms. Zee leaves, Louis closes the door and joins the table eventually.
“Yo, were you stuck in traffic or something? You’re awfully late.” Says Nick, taking a bite of his food.
“Yeah. I think so.” He says while his cheeks turned pink.
“Doesn’t look like a good excuse. Louis,” Cassandra leans forward as she smirks at the male, “Tell us what really happened, hmm? I know you’ve been texting someone all night.”
“Well…”
[FLASHBACK…]
A u-turn was taken.
Speeding down the street with slight showers from the sky creating blotches on his window, he reaches the street in no time.
He texts the girl.
[Im here,]
[Huh!? Where!?]
[In the black Land Rover below]
[Below? How the fuck do you know my address?]
[Were you joking?] He texts her back.
[I wasn’t. I really wasn’t. But this… is too fast. I don’t even know who you are and you know my address already. I feel like I’m in a civic trap]
[Civic trap?] The word makes him chuckle.
[Yh I mean, I don’t know who you are but you may be using me for identity theft or a great spy mission idk TT] He laughs harder.
[Why don’t you come down and check out who I am]
[I want to say yes, but I can’t. I’m sorry.]
They felt so close, yet so far.
[At least look through your window? Remember my face Jessica. I want to see you as well.]
[I’m scared… whoever you are.]
[Alright. I will give you my first name.
It’s Louis]
Jessica brings her thin, pink lips to a smile.
[Hi, it’s Louis] the man in his car was falling deeper and deeper with this witty medical student.
[Good one. I’m waiting for you in the rain.] Texting her, the man climbs out of his car. He was in a white office shirt and a loosened tie. He uses his hand to cover his forehead to see her better through the mist and light.
Then, a silhouette appears from the window.
Louis could feel his heart race against time. The girl he’s been texting for nearly a month was a medical student and her name was Jessica Kuesk, a Christian girl.
As the window opens, Louis exhales loudly.
Jessica Kuesk looks down, seeing a man in the dark wave at her. He was standing under a tree, a Land Rover parked and steady beside him.
“Hi!” He yells at her.
“Hello!” She says softly, looking back to see if any of her family members heard her.
“Tomorrow at Grundy Cafe! Please!” Louis yells, informing her.
Jessica couldn’t believe her eyes.
She didn’t know who the man was. Yet, he looked so handsome. So tall, so muscular and most importantly, he made her heart burst with emotions with his words and voice.
“O-okay.” The girl nods, rushing back inside.
Louis chuckles as he quickly goes back into his car.
The new blooming lovers have finally met.
Both were glad they have seen each other’s faces.
Yet, Jessica didn’t find him skeptive at all.
She wanted to believe in him.
And, she had a face to remember.
Louis, huh.
