Un-happy birthday celebrations

Book:The Forbidden Reverse Harem Published:2025-2-8

They were wishing her.
Just like she wanted to be wished yesterday. It was happening on the wrong day for her, Cassandra Sympsons was not the birthday girl.
Cassandra Johnson was.
“Thanks.” She softly utters to Louis who furrows his eyebrows.
“Didn’t you… didn’t you like our gifts?” He looks at the diamond set he just gifted her. Cassandra widens her eyes and glances at Zayn briefly who shakes his head. “N-no! Are you kidding me?”
She quickly snatches the diamond box and jumps on Louis to hug him.
“I love it!” She wiggles like a koala, Louis almost loses his balance because of the energetic koala he had to hold.
“I’m glad.”
She blows the candle and begins the day of another person’s birthday after ending hers. She slowly packs all of the gifts towards the corner of her room and hugs everyone in the house before closing the door to sleep.
Lying on the bed with her limbs all sprawled out, she frowns herself to cry a little. It was overwhelming. Her heart couldn’t accept that she had to suppress her own birthday to celebrate someone else’s, the very next day.
“Now now,” suddenly, she sports a smile.
“It’s not the end of the world. You’re 18 and you’re mature now, Cassie. Stop it.” She encourages herself.
Maturing is a phased phenomenon wherein a child is forced to accept the adult world. Every little celebration is tagged as childishness. To emit childishness is maturity. According to many societal adults.
Choosing to sleep her sadness away, Cassandra wakes up all fresh and with oily skin the next morning. Discovering her brothers and Framton had gone out, leaving virtual and manual security around the house, she makes sure to lock all doors and windows before sitting down to devour a whole cake.
“Ha~ I’m stuffed.” Going back to her room, to perform hibernation, she sleeps for a few more hours and keeps her room door open.
In the evening, Cassandra wakes up to sounds of people playing with wooden toys and boys conversing loudly. She turns around to see two of her brothers seated.
“Say, you wanna go to that restaurant?”
“What restaunt…?” Cassandra was still sleepy and it was evident. Louis pinches her cheek while she was rubbing her eyes off of tiredness.
“The one which you always talk about, baby.”
“I don’t… remember.” She sits upright between Louis and Zayn.
“He means Friday Gold restaurant. The one made of gold.” Cassandra widens her eyes but takes her cue to not act surprised.
“Oh yeah. That. Are you all ready to pay in gold or what?” Alex who was sat on a bean bag from his room laughs loudly before correcting the girl.
“Cass, it’s Louis’s money we’re talking about. He’s finna buy the whole restaurant with his money if he wants.”
“And yes, that’s a dangerous man right here.” Cassandra adds to which all the boys laugh.
“Cool then. We will leave at 8? I’ll call dad and let him know.”
“Nice.”
And at 8pm, the Johnsons were out to celebrate their youngest’s birthday with the world’s most expensive restaurant- Friday Gold.
Everything about it is gold.
It was a restaurant said to be cursed by Midas, because from the tables to the glasses and cutlery is served by- you guessed that right; Gold.
Cassandra felt her soul leaving her body when she saw how stunningly beautiful she was in the white deep neck, strap gown which was accentuated with gold linings around the neck and waist.
“Who am I…?” She begins to question herself, staring at her image against the big mirror in her closet.
“Hey babe, we’re… ready…” Zayn who peeps in through the bedroom window accidentally surprises himself.
“Blimey…” he utters to himself. Hearing someone speak, she turns around as the little chimes at the end of the dress clink together, producing the sweetest sound in the world.
“Krille DeVuil…” upon her mentioning who designed the gown in the first place, Zayn felt like fainting. In his Era, he had learned about the passing away of a fashion legend when he was twelve. Her news was all over the world, he was closely associated with her somehow. Because Nick was the only Johnson left and kept his tabs with her.
Through his father, he once mourned about a Fashion legend and now, the living Fashion legend of the past was responsible for Cassandra’s birthday suit.
“You’re going to create history with this, Cassie…” Saying, Zayn leaves the place at once. He felt incredibly regretful to ruin his surprise, an eye treat himself. He could have waited along with the others in the hall.
A guest had arrived as well.
“Okay.” Breathing in deeply, Cassandra tries to apply some make up on herself but failing miserably.
She had none to guide her, but she had a few tools.
The only person who comes to her mind was Ravine.
She’s Alex’s girlfriend as well. There was nothing wrong in asking for her brother’s girlfriend to do her makeup. She was in the protection of her brothers anyway.
Also, she wanted to see her burn.
And so, she dials her number derived from their class group chat.
“Why are you calling me?” Ravine says through the line, Cassandra mocking her right away as well.
“Feeling the need to diss a birthday girl? Just think about it. Today’s my big day. And you, are just the side dash.”
“What do you want?”
“Good question. Because you know I suck at doing my own makeup,” he breathes in, trying to sound nice to a bitchy girl.
“I’ll give you whatever you want, but come and do my make up. I don’t trust anyone else, not even professionals.” As Cassandra says the words, Ravine who was leisurely sitting in her room sits up straight.
The request was coming from a birthday girl. Ravine can choose not to accept one of the simple favors asked of her but today… was her special day.
She thought; if a Johnson asked her for assistance, keeping all her pride and attitude away, as a Noble, Ravine could do the same as well.
“Fine. I’m coming over.”
“Do you need the address?” Cassandra asks with a smirk.
“Nah. You think I can’t find your address on the internet? You’re a goddamn Johnson.”
Cassandra laughs.
