Arthur smiled and agreed with her, “It is okay. Are you bored?”
“Yes. I wish we could drive out.”
Arthur consented to her request with the belief that when they get to the bridge, they will cross it. Indeed, when they got to the bridge, they crossed it.
“Do you mind if we go for a walk around the estate? I did not go for my morning walkout today.”
Nichole accepted his suggestion with enthusiasm, “Wow. I should have thought of that.”
Being proactive is not frailty but his way of protecting those he loved. At least, the estate was safe for her at that moment.
At Seven Oaks.
Louis had not commented on the platform, but his silence was scary. Of all the bashing that Stephen got that day, Louis’ plans against him were bloodcurdling.
Louis, who saw the post made by Denise after the chat between Freya and Julie, began to launch his attack against his uncle. He went over the recorded conversation several times.
(What I am saying is that you should let your mother know that she has to move on with her life. She cannot spend the rest of her life raising children for Arthur. He is only using her as a nanny.)
Each time he read it, the tempo of his anger arose, which intensified the revenge he would carry out against him.
‘He wanted Mom to move on with her life and abandon my siblings and me like he abandoned his child. Why is he telling lies that Father was using Mom as a nanny? Anyway, maybe he has evidence to prove that.’
Having analyzed the issue critically, he called his lawyer, and he picked up immediately.
“Hello, Mr. Bailey. How is your weekend going?” he inquired.
“Hello, Barr. Guidance. My weekend is going on well. And yours?”
“Fine. How may I help you?”
“I will forward a post of the comment made against my parents by an unscrupulous relation. Go through it and advise me on what to do. I want to nip such relations in the bud to serve as a deterrent to others.”
“That is fine. You can share it with me.”
“It is okay,” Louis said and forwarded the post to the barrister and after thirty minutes, he called him back.
“Mr. Bailey, I have gone through the post and I considered it an insult to your family, especially your parents. Secondly, such a statement is provocative and can cause a breakdown of the peace and harmony you enjoy as a family.”
“Huh! I thought as much. What do I do?”
“We will file a lawsuit against him requesting him to prove his claim. However, this is a civil case, if he wants a voluntary settlement, we may halt the process and resort to arbitration.”
“It is okay by me provided he takes responsibility and faces the consequences of his actions.”
“It is okay. I will contact him before the end of Monday.”
“That will be fine by me. Thank you.”
“You are welcome.”
At. Mr. Fields’ Apartment
Denise and his wife chatted after he joined her on the bed. He was joyful that the woman he married was not just beautiful, but intellectually challenging.
“My Angel,” he called out.
She faced him and answered, “Yes, Hubby.”
“I hope my baby will be as intelligent as you are?” Denise requested while rubbing her stomach.
Olivia laughed out loud and responded, “He or she would be as intelligent as the father.”
“No. Like the mother.”
“I insist. Like the father.”
“Okay. Let us settle it. Partly from the father and partly from the mother. Is that okay with you?”
“Partly okay with me.”
Denise pulled her nose and teased. “It should be completely okay with you.”
Suddenly, Olivia’s phone rang. They paused and looked at the phone that was on the side table. Then, Denise, who was closer picked it up and handed it over to her. When she looked at the phone and saw the caller, she exclaimed “Wow! Before she sat up.
“My mom,” she announced.
“Hello, Mom. How are you?” she greeted her and inquired while Denise shot an exciting glance at her.
“I’m fine. How are you and your husband?”
“We are doing well, Mom. How is Dad?”
“Your dad is fine. I feel you are out of your honeymoon and I decided to check on you.”
Olivia looked at her husband before she responded, “That is good, Mom. We are out of our honeymoon. Thank you for checking on us.”
“It is all right. Can I speak with your husband if he is close by?”
“Yes, Mom. He is close by. Speak with him,” she responded shyly and the mother noticed it through her voice.
“Why are you shy?” she asked her immediately.
She chuckled and responded, “I’m not shy, Mom. Speak with him.”
Then, she handed her phone over to her husband, who was resting his back on the bed. Now, she rested her head on her husband’s thighs while he ran his right fingers through her hair.
“Hello, Mom. How are you?” he greeted her.
“Oh! Denise. How are you?”
“I’m fine, Mom. How are you doing at the missionary camp?”
“We are fine. Why is your wife shy? Is there any good news for us?”
“Yes, Mom. We are expecting our bundle of joy.”
The next voice that Denise heard amazed him. It was Olivia’s father who grabbed the phone from his wife when he heard that they were expecting.
“Hello, Denise. That is a piece of good news. I was convinced that you would take good care of my daughter. I’m happy for the two of you.”
“Thank you, Dad. How are you?”
“Hi Dad,” Olivia, who got up from her husband’s thigh, greeted him.
They spoke joyfully and they ended the call. Afterward, Denise giggled, held her closer, and announced, “Dad said he was convinced that I will take good care of you.”
“Yes. He said so.”
“Good. Get ready, I feel like taking good care of you right now.”
Olivia smiled and pulled away from him. She picked up the pillow, threw it at him, and demanded, “Is that what he meant by taking good care of me?”
“It is part of it,” Denise answered and pulled her closer again.
Now, he covered her lips with his for a deep kiss and she reciprocated.
