Tristan
It was a new day, a good day because today Isabella is coming home. I got ready happily, shaved my beard, trimmed my hair, and got ready just to bring it back muffin.
“I’m going to look like your type today,” I spoke to the mirror and sighed because I was clearly letting the whole thing get into my head. I got dressed in a white polo shirt and wore beige class pants with it. I brushed my hair, wore my shoes, and stared at myself in the full-length mirror.
“No way she wouldn’t recall me,” I smiled and did a few buttons on my shirt, before grabbing my phone and leaving the room. I ensured that everything and everyone was ready for her return.
Her old room, our room, food, drinks, and everything was organized neatly and perfectly for her return. I grabbed the car keys and walked out of the house. I was about to try on the driver seat, but that wouldn’t allow for Isabella and myself to be close. So instantly I gave the key to the driver and got into the backseat as we drove to the hospital.
“Good, you’re here,” Mr. Colin said and patted her back as we walked into her room. I looked stunned by the sight in front of me. Micah was holding Isabella’s hands and they were laughing out loud. She looked happy truly happy.
“Hey Dad, ” She said and gazed at me briefly before taking her back to me.
“It’s time to get you home, baby girl,” He said to her, and her eyes lit up.
“Really,” she stared at him excited to hear that.
“Yes,” He chuckled and packed her stuff in a tote bag.
“So I’m going to see El and Gerald,” She giggled.
“What? No?” Her dad laughed lightly.
“You’re going home to your husband baby girl, he has been waiting for you,” Mr. Colin said gently to her, and immediately her face dissolved from smiling to a look of fear.
“No, I’m not going to stay with him,” She folded her hands and turned her face away, making me scoff.
“You remember you were going to be nice to him since he has been good to you,” He said to her and I looked over at her father as he whispered audibly.
“Yes,” She groaned.
“Come on, go home and I’ll be with you pretty soon,” He rubs the back of her head.
“You’re going to visit me with everyone?” She asked him as her face brightened when he smiled and said yes to her request.
“Okay, so be good and I’ll see you soon,” She nodded like a child. I took a step closer to her and she took one step backwards making me hair immediately.
“Come on let’s go,” I said whispering but immediately she pulled much time herself.
“Can he come with me?” She pouted her lips at me and I sighed giving in to her condition.
“Let’s go,” I grabbed the tote bag as we started to leave the hospital. We got to the car which was parked just in front of the hospital. I opened the door for her and she got into the backseat with Micah while I was stuck in the front seat with the driver.
I wanted to avoid being far away from Isabella when we got home, and that was why I called for a driver to help us with the driving so that I could spend my time with her in the backseat. But unfortunately, Isabella had other ideas and plans. She made sure that much followed her to our room even after we got home.
“Thank you, Micah,” I stood outside the door and watched her give him a light kiss on his cheeks. I gasped instantly and took my face away even though I wanted to just rant and talk about her new fondness with Micah.
“Hi Tristan,” Micah said leaving the room and I almost threw my fist at him.
“Oh you better just get going,” I glared at him.
“Sure I’m doing that, send kisses to Isabella,” he said smiling sheepishly as my fave had turned red in anger.
“You’re so dead,” I whispered, so Isabella wouldn’t hear, but he chuckled.
“Bye husband,” he snickered and left while I sighed.
“Hey,” Her door was wide open but I placed a light knock on it.
“Oh,” She mumbled and turned around staring at me.
“Do you want anything? Water? A drink?” I asked her nervously.
“No thank you,” She said simply, and I sighed turning around to leave.
“Tristan,” I halted immediately my name rolling out of her mouth. It’s been a month already, a whole long month since I heard her call my name.
“Yes muffin,” I answered her, my eyes glistening while I stared at her paying full attention right to what she wanted to say.
“Tristan right?” She asked still unsure while I nodded immediately, a smile spread across my lips.
“You said we were married, right?” She started.
“Still married,” I corrected calmly.
“Yeah, wherever,” she said nonchalantly, playing with her hair.
“But I don’t see our wedding portrait,” She looked at the walls in the room staring at me with her eyebrow raised as she waited for a response.
“Well, I started. We didn’t get it done due to some disagreement,” I had no idea what to tell her, what not to tell her, or even how to out my words. Our situation was awkward already, and I came clean, how do I convince her that we were in a good place before this?
The universe sure do had its way of punishing me, and damn it was working.
“So we weren’t on good terms? We fought?” She folded her arms staring at me, her eyes widened and I felt overwhelmed. She took a step towards me, watching me as I opened my mouth to speak.
“No muffin, that’s not what I’m saying,” I touched the brink of my nose, thinking of how to organize my thoughts and speak with her, without agitating her.
“I hate that name,” She said with a glare, already standing on the door.
“Pardon?” I was confused.
“Muffin.”
“I hate it, don’t ever call me that again,” She said and banged the door in my face, leaving me stunned.
What the heck is going on? Did I actually make things worse?
