Isabella
“So you better keep up to your part and quietly leave his life, so he can get married to his real wife,” Grandfather’s words were still stuck in my head as we drove back home.
“Sh*t the car,” I half yelled at Tristan. It felt like I was having a panicked attack, and everywhere felt hot, that I couldn’t breathe.
“Isabel, are you okay?” Tristan stepped on the brakes immediately and parked in front of a store.
“Water,” I managed to say and he immediately got down from the car and rushed to the site to purchase a pack of water.
I was in the car, gasping for air. It felt like I was standing on thin air and with one wrong move, I might just die or collapse. I felt pain around my lungs, I couldn’t tell if this was a panic attack or was also a part of the signs. I looked over the window and Tristan had opened the lack and brought out a bottle of water which he handed to me immediately after he got into the car.
“Thank you,” I smiled and held onto the bottle, as I took a small sip at first so that I didn’t spill water allow over my body or his car.
“Do you feel better?” He asked as I took more sip, now without his help.
“Yes,” I said to him, my body slowly relaxing and I closed my eyes and exhaled deeply before covering the water with its cap.
“God you gave me a fright muffin,” He stated and I sighed.
“I’m sorry,” I whispered.
“It’s okay. I’m glad you’re okay now,” He kissed my hands and kept the bottom of the water in the back seat.
“Let’s go home, so you can rest?” He said and started the car.
“Can I drive?” I asked him a bit nervous.
“What? No way, tell me where you want to go,” He held the staring wheels.
“Please,” I said in a whisper and he looked confused.
“What’s going on muffin, let me drive you, you are not in a state to drive,” He said to me, which was true. But right now where I needed to be I didn’t want him to catch on to that quote, or else he was going to ruin my plan.
“Do you trust me?” He looked at me for a moment as if thinking of the response, and I felt my heart sank.
” I do, ” He said.
“Then please, just give me the keys,” I stretched my hands to him. He looked conflicted, but after staring at me, he sluggishly gave me the key.
“Thank you,” I said and opened my door, getting out of the car, and he did the same as we switched seats.
“Could you at least tell me where we are going?” He asked immediately I started the car.
“I’m not sure you would be pleased with such information,” I said to him truthfully. Even though meeting with his grandfather didn’t go as I had pictured in my head, I wasn’t going to let myself get completely downcast about the event, I’ll see to it I finish my activities today.
Yes, grandfather was his favorite person and I wanted to win his heart. I wanted Tristan’s family to not see me as Lily Allen’s replacement, I wanted them to like me, accept me, and see me as his wife Isabella Colin. Things were okay with his aunty Diane and Uncle Trevor, but his grandfather was an epic fail. And right now I regret having that conversation with him, agreeing to leave Tristan, but I didn’t know things were going to end up this way.
“Isabella,” I felt someone poked me, bringing me back to reality.
“You zoned out,” I stared at him and I gave him a snack smile.
“Sorry,” I whispered driving.
“What were you saying?” I asked immediately.
“I said we shouldn’t go,” He said like it was that simple or he decided to make it, even though maybe it was his.
“What?” I looked over my shoulders.
“Yes, if you can’t tell me now, then we shouldn’t be there,” He said and I just smiled.
“Hold on, you’re going to find out soon,” I said and took the left turn to the next street and I looked at him, wondering if was goi to get a hint, but he didn’t seem to notice until I drove to the gate.
“Muffin,” his face was pale already. He looked at me and stared around like he was losing his breath.
“Tristan,” I called out and drove inside as the gate was opened for us.
“Here,” I immediately grabbed a bottle of water and handed it to him. He collected it and gulped it didn’t immediately while I did. Just stare at him sighing.
“Are you sure you’re not making things worse Isabella?” My subconscious asked me and I sighed staring at him until he slowly calmed down, and the color on his face started to return.
“Why are we here?” He yelled at me.
“Explain to me why you brought me here?” he raised his voice at me and I felt a lump in my throat.
“I’m sorry,” I whispered, shaken by the way he spoke to me. I’ve seen him yell as his assistant, but as his wife this was different. And right now I crossed the boundaries, bringing him here was off the radar.
“That’s not the answer to my question Isabella,” he screamed. He called my name in full, and I couldn’t look him in the eye, because I could feel it from his voice already. He was angry, he was completely pissed off.
“Please, calm down,” I said calmly and calculative so I don’t agitate him even more.
“Speak muffin,” I lifted my head and looked at him. He called me muffin, that’s a sign right, he wasn’t so mad.
“I brought him a gift,” I stared into his eyes, and it was bloodshot red, causing me to look away immediately.
“And did you run that through with me? ” Oh no, I guess stating the reason I was here made it worse.
“I knew you were going to refuse,” My voice cracked.
“But you still went ahead with your idea, right?” He yelled, and my body shook from the pitch of his voice. What was I expecting? This was obviously going to be his reaction to going behind and bringing him to his father’s house.
Yes, you heard right, I brought Tristan to Mr George’s house, his father.
