Tristan and Isabella could barely sleep a wink throughout the night. The awkwardness and inability to have a conversation with each other had struck them hard.
“What’s going on?” Isabella stirs in her bed, unable to sleep and unable to stop thinking about it.
“I need to talk to someone? What do I do?” She thought to herself when the realization hit her that she didn’t have any friends. She had pushed away people in her life, trying to build a career at the company and hopefully change the life of her family.
The thought of that struck her as she felt the loneliness hit her hard. She looked at her contact, going through it, that hopefully there would be someone to talk this with or someone to help her understand, but there was none. She couldn’t tell her mom about it and revealed she got married and didn’t inform them, she definitely couldn’t explain how all of that happened and how she married him.
She sighed as she noticed it was bright already and she needed to get ready for work.

Just like Isabella was worrying, Tristan was in his room not far from Isabella going through the same plight. He didn’t know what to do nor could he sleep a bit.
He sat on the bed, trying to draw a conclusion and pinpoint the reasons that they suddenly started being awkward after saying they liked each other.
It didn’t make any sense to him. It was 5 am, he grabbed his phone to contact his buddies but saw the time and sighed.
“Do I try to have a conversation with her again? What do I do?” He questions himself, worried and confused.
He searched for Emily’s contact about to dial on it, but kicked against it. She was going through her issues and he wasn’t going to burden her with his. So he started to get ready for work and left earlier than usual to avoid any awkwardness with Isabella.
Isabella
I sighed and got off the bed, groaning from the pain I felt from lack of sleep. I walked to the shower, had a quick bath, and got ready for work, but this time I wore sunglasses as I walked out of my room.
“Good morning Rose,” I said to her and sat in the dining room, while she helped organize my room.
“Good morning ma’am,” She responded, and brought my food to me, I took the sunglasses off and dropped them on the table, before picking up my fork.
“What about Tristan?” I asked and had a taste of the pancakes.
“He left for work already,” she said and left while I sighed.
Of course, he did, things were weird between us and now we were back to this. The distance did not make sense. I thought confession would fix the whole thing, but did we not pour out our hearts enough? I signed and grabbed my bag and sunglasses before leaving the house.
I arrived at the office a little late, so I quickly organized the meeting room, before the board members and shareholders arrived.
“Your coffee,” I popped my head into Tristan’s office without knocking and he smiled at me, before standing on his feet and grabbing the cup of coffee from me.
“Is the meeting set?” He asked and I nodded my head, walking beside him as we headed into the meeting room. I dropped the files on Tristan’s table and stood behind him, while the meeting started.
It was brief but indeed was a success. Tristan sent his greetings and pleasantries to everyone as they started to leave.
“That wasn’t so bad,” He sighed and I chuckled behind him.
“What do you think” He turned to look at me.
“It was a complete success,” I smiled at him when my phone beeped, I looked at him and then stepped away to see that I received a message from Ella my sister.
I tapped on it and it was a screenshot from Insta. I stared at it and then zoomed in to confirm that it was what I saw.
“My college school reunion, damn, two nights from now,” I stare at it starstruck.
“Is this a sign?” Do I need to go there? What does this even mean? I sighed and texted thanks to my sister for turning off my phone and rushing back to my office.
It’s been years since I was in contact with any of them. When we graduated I lost my old phone and when I got a new one, I didn’t even bother to find them or get in touch with them.
I smiled and remembered the moments I had with my girls in college, the clubs, dancing, and of course studying too. It was such a wholesome experience and sincerely it was thanks to those ladies I can say I had a life or anything like fun in college.
“Damn, I was so stuck up,” I shook my head and turned on my monitor.
“Damn would Ava and Amelia even show up for this,” I thought smiling and thinking about it all?
I got back to work without concluding if I was going to attend the reunion or not. The day gradually came to an end and like before we went to our separate cars. It was like we were back to square one again. The next day was not much different actually. We crossed paths going to the dining room, and we only greeted and busied ourselves with our phones. We said nothing to each other as before but just lived in silence all through.
And even when he offered to give me a ride, I declined because it was just going to be awkward. We went to the office separately and came back separately.
Nothing was going on with both of us other than the “Hi” and the “Good morning,” It was frustrating indeed. I lay on my bed, wondering how being away from each other suddenly became comfortable for both of us. I needed to leave the house, and probably stay away for a few days, maybe then the spark would ignite itself, and we would miss each other and have something to say other than hi’s and good morning. I sighed and stared at the ceiling frustrated.

I got a reminder on my phone about the reunion and immediately I didn’t think much about it and decided to go to it. That day I mentioned the event to Tristan who didn’t have a lot to say about it, but insisted that I would go with a bodyguard, which I immediately agreed to without complaints. I rushed back to my room and got ready, I did my makeup, and packed my hair in a messy bun, leaving a few at the front. I walked to my closet and picked a red poplin midi dress, as I wore it. I immediately opened my drawer in the room and grabbed two gold bangles with a necklace
I wore it and then grabbed a golden-like shoe with a golden purse. I stare at myself in the mirror, very satisfied with my look before leaving my room.
“You look beautiful,” Tristan said to me and I smiled feeling less nervous hearing that from him.
“Have fun, but not too much fun,” I chuckled and nodded as he walked me down the stairs to the front pitch holding my hands.
“Do not leave her sight,” he instructed the bodyguard sternly, while I blushed.
“And call me every hour,” My eyes widened as I gasped at his crazy request. He kissed my hands before letting go as I walked into the car.
“Byee,” I said to him smiling, while he waved back at me and watched us leave.
An hour later I arrived at the venue, I was late already and was nervous about going. They were at the restaurant, and I could hear some music and laughter coming from inside the building. I stood there and, breathed out before taking a step into the place. I pushed the door open and walked inside and immediately everyone turned their eyes staring at me.
“Who’s that?” I heard someone say.
“Is that Isabella,” I heard a familiar voice and I turned in the direction and there she was sitting with Amelia.
“Ava,” I called out almost crying, and she came rushing to me when my bodyguard immediately stepped in and blocked her from reaching to me.
“It is okay, I know her” I smiled at him, and he immediately cleared the path while I hugged Ava tightly.
“I can’t believe my eyes, you came. You’re here, ” She said still hugging me and I sighed feeling relieved like I had reunited with my long-lost soulmate.
“I missed you so much, it’s so good to see you,” I said in between the hugs before we pulled away staring at each other warmly.
“Everyone it’s Isabella Colin,” She yelled and I chuckled following her to where Amelia was sitting as my bodyguard followed right behind me.
“It’s you,” She rose on her feet and jumped on me, while I smiled and hugged her tightly holding the tears in my eyes.
“I miss you,” I breathed out and pulled away as we sat down, staring at each other with tears.
“How have you guys been?” I yelled in between the loud music as the noise almost covered our voices.
“We’ve been good. What happened to you? Where have you been?” Amelia yelled back at me, but before I could respond, Ava interrupted me.
“We should go somewhere private, the music is too loud,” She said and we nodded and immediately walked to the outdoor that had a bench enough for the three of us. We took a bottle of wine and glasses as we all caught up on each other life.
I listened to each one of them as they caught me up with their life.
“So after college, I kind of lost my mom that was why I went MiA on you guys. I’m working yeah, and only caught up with Amelia last year when we met at the beach in Miami,” Ava explained to us. I felt really sad about her mom, she was the most down-to-earth person I know, and I knew how much Ava cherished her.
“I’m so sorry for your loss Ava. I’m sorry I wasn’t there,” I explain, and she smiled and took a sip of her drink.
“Well you guys, I had a child after college with an asshole, so single mother here, with an amazing 5-year-old,” She said and we looked at her shocked.
“That was when we graduated?” Ava rushed to say
“You didn’t tell us you were pregnant. Oh my God,” I gasped and she chuckled.
“I didn’t know how to tell you guys that you were right about him. I envision a future with him and you Isabella hated him a lot,” She pointed at me, and I gave her a small guard.
“Only because he was an asshole, he cheated on you. Played with your heart and now dumped you with a child, like I had said,” I ranted angrily about the whole situation. I knew something like this would happen, and had warned her but she was so in love that she didn’t listen to me…
“You see. This is why I said nothing. You don’t care about love and you were so stuck up. You would have scolded me if I had said anything,” Amelia yelled and I gasped at her words.
“Are you serious right now? Me, stuck up?” I pointed at myself, and she nodded when Ava stood up immediately.
“Enough, are you kidding me? You guys just met, after what? Five to six years and you think yelling is the perfect way to bond?” Ava yelled at the both of us and we immediately kept shut.
“Good, that’s more like it, silence,” She breathed out and sat down, dusting her floral mini dress while I chuckled.
“And you Isabella? What’s been up with you?” Ava turned to me and I sighed.
“Let me guess, she’s still a workaholic with no life, probably got a promotion but no friends,” I snickered at her angrily. She was right and I hated that she was right too.
“Well if you must know I am married,” I said and waved my diamond ring to their faces, which I had chosen to wear today, and goodness it came in handy.
“That’s a lie,” Ava breathes out in shock, as they both stare at me in surprise.
“It’s not, I’m somebody’s wife,” I smiled at them, proudly.
