Isabella
Maybe it was just my thinking, but the ride to the office felt longer than it’s usual. I probably was overthinking this, or couldn’t think at all cause he held my hands till we got to the company.
He got out of the car and gave his hands to me like a gentleman. I hesitated a bit but just gave my hand to him.
I got out of the car and stood in front of him, our faces just an inch apart, our gaze intensified, as our hands stayed connected, while I shuddered under his touch.
“Let’s go,” He smiled at me. He smiled at me, his lips formed a smile. His eyes lit up, his face glowed, and his smile melted me.
And just like that, I kept staring at his face, while he held my hands walking from the parking lot to the building. My brain didn’t realize what was happening in the moment, cause I kept staring at him as we walked. It was as if I had been bewitched by him or something. I didn’t know how, but at that moment, everything felt right, everything felt good, it felt like spring.
“Isabella,” I heard my name, I turned around to find Micah standing in front of me, and as if at that moment I was suddenly conscious of my reality.
“Micah?” I looked surprised and confused at the same time. I felt his grip around my hands tighten, which made me realize that Mr. Tristan was here, causing me to suddenly pull away from his hold.
“What are you doing here?” I said and took a step forward in his direction.
“You didn’t call,” His gaze shifted from Mr. Tristan to mine.
“Call?” I didn’t understand what he meant
“You said you were going to call,” He explained and it suddenly clicked in my head, when I smiled at him.
“Yes, I’m sorry I got distracted from work,” I turned to find Tristan still standing there.
“Gosh, I’m supposed to introduce you both,” I hit my head a little and chuckled staring at the both of them.
“Sir, this is Micah. We are neighbors,” I smiled.
“She meant we are close friends,” he said and stared at Tristan.
“And this is,” I pause unsure of how to introduce Tristan. Our situation was awkward, and it’s not like we have talked about it or something.
“He is my boy-,”
“Her husband,” Tristan cut me off and offered his hands to Micah for a shake.
I fidgeted while looking at the confused expression on Micah’s face.
“Husband?” He repeated staring at me and waiting for an explanation. But what do I say? How do I explain this? And why does it feel like I cheated right now?
“It’s a long story, Micah,” I cleared my throat and turned to stare at Tristan who had a smile on his lips and a gleam in his eyes. I looked at him with a scowl but he stared at Micah in smiles.
“When? When did it happen?” Micah asked, his face looked drained while he stared at me awaiting an explanation.
“I’m so…,” I felt his hands on mine again, I turned my head, feeling shivers as I looked at him.
“We’ve got work to do,”
“Probably you both can catch up later, and it was nice to meet you, ” Tristan said and started to pull me away from Micah.
“But..,” I heard Micah utter.
“Fuck,” I cursed as we got into the company. We walked past the reception who stared at us with shock. She had barely greeted Tristan and for the first time, he didn’t care. We walked passed a few more people, before getting into the elevator I noticed the whispers going around as we passed.
I noticed what was going on around me, but I didn’t understand why it happened. My entire thought was about Micah, and how everything just went the way it did.
“Yes! I am married to Tristan. But did I want Micah to know that? No! Obviously no,” I thought frustrated.
We got out of the elevator and arrived at my office, I turned to look at Tristan and immediately I pulled my hands away from him.
“Husband?” I said, my face was a scowl as I stared at him waiting for a response.
“Why would you say that?” I rubbed my forehead frustrated, without giving him any chance to say a thing.
“Fuck Mr. Tristan!” I cursed under my breath.
“Because it’s true. You are my WIFE,” he responded, but not calmly. His voice was just as pitched as mine, probably higher due to the emphasis on his wife.
“Wife?” I laughed hysterically. It was as if I had gone to a manic mode.
“Now we are married? Now you want to scream it out to the universe,” I clicked my tongue and rolled my eyes at him.
“What happened to your sweetheart? What happened to her being your wife Mr. Tristan Dominic,” I yelled right back at him.
“She’s not here, you are here,” He took a step forward to me..
“You are my wife,” I could feel his breath on my face. I turned away and now I could smell him, his cologne.
“You think this is cute, heh?” I placed my finger on his chest and moved him away from me. He gazed at me so intensely as if he enjoyed this. As if he liked it and it got me furious.
“Only if you think so,”
Oh, that awful smirk on his lips. I’m so going to slap it off. I could only wish so.
“It’s not cute, so drop it,” I eyed him. I turned around to go to my desk when his voice stopped me on my track.
“Why do you care about what he thinks?”
“Perhaps do you like him?” I instantly turned around to stare at him.
“And yes if I do?” I said I was angry.
“How’s that your business?” I added and walked up to him.
“Does it hurt your ego, Mr. Tristan,” We stood inches apart from each other. We both stare into our eyes. I could see the fury and fire in his eyes as I said those sentences. His eyes had gone red as it darkened. I scored a point but it scared me and gave me the chills, but I wasn’t going to give him the satisfaction of letting him know that I was scared.
“Watch your word wife,” It came out through gritted teeth. It was as if he was stopping himself from doing something. It was a warning, one that I should heed, but I wanted to let him off his leash, I wanted to see that side his trying so hard to control.
“I might as well kiss Micah when we see…,” I didn’t finish my sentence when I felt his grip around my neck, he pushed me backward so roughly that my savior was at the desk behind me.
“You would do no such thing, Isabella,” he said as his hands slowly left my neck causing me to catch my breath as I coughed out.
“It hurts,” I whispered in pain, and a tear dropped from my eyes.
“Fuck,” He cursed and stare at me briefly before walking to his office, leaving me in fright…
