Chapter 71

Book:The Billionaire's Obsession Published:2025-2-8

Ethan’s POV
I sit nervously, a hand fisted on my knees and eyes settled on the man glaring at me, his lips set tightly in a thin line.
If a look could kill, then I’d be 10ft underground now, with a bloody body.
Of course, I’m here, sitting unscathed before him because Henry is doing a good job holding him down.
“So!” He spat, his eyes contorted with fury, fuming with anger. “What are you doing here?”
“As though it’s not obvious.” Henry chipped in with a roll of his eyes.
Okay! What I want now is not to have Henry get him madder.
“Shut up, will you!” Mr. Shaw gritted out.
He does not look away from me, yet Henry shrank back into his chair.
I don’t know where to start. No, I do not know what to say.
If I came here with something in my mind, then his deadly glare has sent everything away from my mind to be replaced by fear and uncertainty.
What was I thinking? That I’d be able to convince this man sitting before me?
I sighed, drumming my fingers on my lap
Mentally, I admired how stupid my courage was to walk in here unprepared.
“Seems like you have nothing to say, do you?” He glared.
I don’t know.
I shook my head which seem heavy on my neck.
I’m so going to be killed.
“I… I…” I stuttered. “I… Love Dawn.”
“Same story!” He snorted. “She told me she loves you too!”
“I… I want to marry her!”
I know I’ll never get out of here alive… It’s certain, it’s just hard to admit.
If Mr. Shaw was looking deadly and angry earlier, then it’s nothing to what he looks like now.
Now bless me, I might just go home with a broken leg.
Mr. Shaw leaped up, advancing towards me, but Henry quickly clamped his arms around his midriff and pulled him down back on the chair.
“Let me go!” He growled.
“No, Dad.” Henry moaned.
“Let me kill him. Because of him… Because of him, Cole can’t get married to Dawn. Because of him… Let me kill him.”
“No dad,” Henry breathed out. “Your grandchild is going to be fatherless”
“I don’t care! I don’t… WHAT!” He thundered.
Mr. Shaw relaxed for a second, his tensed shoulder sagging down, his brow creased, and his eyes almost turned to slit as though trying to comprehend whatever rubbish Henry had said.
“No…” He chuckled, finally turning to face Henry. “You’re joking about being fatherless, aren’t you? I’m sure you’re not telling me that she’s… She is… No!”
“Unfortunately, she is pregnant.” Henry grinned.
I wanted to call out to him not to grin. No! This situation is not that light-hearted for that kind of gesture.
At least, not with this kind of look we’re getting from his father.
Mr. Shaw sucked in a deep harsh breath, gritted his teeth, and from the corner of my eyes, I saw him fist his hand.
He passed me one harsh glare before he rushed upstairs.
“Listen…” I tried to call out. “I want…”
And what is it I wanted to say? Nothing, I have no idea either.
I sighed, running a hand through my hair.
It’s not going to be easy. I thought to myself.
Why do I think it’s going to be easy?
“Look, Ethan,” Henry breathed out. “I’m sorry I wasn’t much help, but… can you get going now? My dad has got a gun.”
“What?”
“He might be planning to kill you for real.”
“That’s not funny.” I chuckled lightly.
“And I’m not joking,” he hissed. “He’s got a gun. Ah!” Henry slapped his lips. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to tell him that. It kind of slipped off.”
Oh! That makes me feel better right now.
It slipped out and now, I’m on the verge of getting killed.
I stood up and wiped away an invisible sweat from my face.
“I’ll see then,”
I muttered.
Getting outside, I released the breath I don’t know I was holding.
In there was so suffocating, but I’m not giving up until I get what I desire.
Well… He gave me to put up with for days, weeks, or months to come.
****
“No luck today too,” I said into the phone, entering the room and closing the door behind me.
Andre snickered, and Cole let out a small laugh.
“You think it’s gonna be easy?”
“No, I never had it easy, you see.” I rolled my eyes.
Andre clicked his tongue
“Are you okay then?”
“You bet,”
I removed my blazer and dumped it on the sofa before I slumped on one.
I need a cold bath, but I could do with a cold beer right now.
“I was nearly burning alive.”
“I’m glad you’re okay,” Cole said. “He’s totally out of it ever since I called off the engagement.”
“I can imagine,” Andre muttered.
“That makes me feel better.” I snickered
“Hey! You’re back!”
“I need to go, Dawn’s here. ”
Not waiting for their response, I cut the call and threw the phone on the sofa.
“Hmm…” I nodded, stretching my arms wide for a hug.
Dawn threw herself on me, her hair slapping my face as she hugged me tight to her chest.
“I’ve missed you.”
“C’mon,” I chuckled. “I’ve only been gone for a few hours.”
“That seems like forever, you asshole!” She grinned.
I snaked my arms around her, my nails digging into her waist.
I placed a sloppy kiss on her neck, earning a loud moan from her lips.
“Ethan…”
“I missed you, don’t you miss me?”
“Of course, I do, you asshole!”
She threw her head back as my lips latched on her collarbone, earning a louder moan from her.
“You met my Dad today.” He groaned as my hand grazed her ass.
“Hmm… he nearly kills me, you know.”
Dawn sighed, shifting her butt on my lap so that it landed straight on my bulge.
A moan escaped my lips.
“You’re not going to give up on us, are you?”
“Never!” I hissed.
I cupped her face in my palm, looking straight into those intoxicating eyes.
Even her Dad couldn’t stop me from loving her.
“You don’t know what you’re saying,” I grazed my lips over hers, my hand back on her ass. “I’d rather die marrying you than to give up on us.”
“Hmm… do you want to come inside then.” She moaned out.
With all pleasure.
