Nicole POV
A frown slowly latched on my face as I watched Dawn making her way into the company.
She’s bouncing walking into the company, a large smile on her lips. Her eyes glinting happily
Judging by the look on her face, she seems happy and euphoric, making me wonder what on Earth happened?
What could probably be the cause of her happiness or not about me getting married to her?
I want to be her only cause of happiness.
Why can’t she see it? I love her and I’m not gonna be giving her up for that scumbag.
“Go before me,” I muttered to Craig. “I’ll take the second elevator.”
Without waiting for his reply, I made my way out of the elevator and followed Dawn.
Ever since that day, I’ve never set my eyes on her.
Perhaps, it’s meant to be like that, or Dawn is doing everything she could, to avoid me.
I mentally chuckled.
She has no idea how far I’m willing to go just to win her over to my side.
I don’t give up easily… no! Never!
I stopped the door by placing my foot between them.
Flying my head up, I flashed Dawn a wide grin.
“Hey,” I greeted
“Hi, Nicole.” She replied with a nervous smile, her eyes desperately trying not to look at me.
I mentally chuckled. I let my eye roam around her body.
She’s putting on a black straight skirt that packed her moderate ass perfectly.
Damn that! Do I not want that to be on my lap, with my arms tightly wrapped around her tiny waist?
“Aren’t you entering?”
Her soothing voice jolted me back to reality, and I flashed her a boyish grin before I entered fully, and pressed the button.
Dawn moved slightly away from me, pressing her body against the wall.
Ugh! She must have desperately wanted to get away from me, but too bad for her, only us will be boarding this elevator today.
From the corner of my eyes, I saw her picking on her fingers.
“Don’t you think,” I chuckled, whirling around to face her fully?
Dawn folded her lips nervously, her brows slightly cocked as she gazed at me.
“What…?” She mumbled.
Bet she’s uncomfortable being alone with me, but unfortunately for her, there’s nothing better than being here alone with her.
I get to have her all to myself… To stare at her all through the drive and inhale her scent.
“That we have unfinished business.” I smiled.
She creased her brows, her cute and perfect nose slightly raised as though trying to comprehend what I’ve said.
Ugh! Tell her not to give me that look.
“Sorry…” She pouted. “What are you talking about?”
Lifting my gaze away from her, I curled my hand into a fist. I’m still trying to resist pulling her to myself, now that she pouted her lips… Tryna act cute before me, I might just lose myself.
Taking in a deep breath, I mentally calm myself.
No! I don’t want to act like a manwhore! I want to show her that I’m different from that jerk she’s living with.
“About…”
“I’m sorry, Cole.” Dawn cut in sharply, making me fly my head up. “But if you’re talking about the marriage arrangements… ”
“No!”
Now it’s my time to cut into her words. “Not about that”
Dawn creased her brows, her eyes laced with curiosity and her lips slightly parted
“Then what?” She inquired with a raised brow.
“That I love you” I blurted out.
She gasped, but she was quick to clap her hand over her mouth to muffle her scream. Dawn widened her eyes, her face heating up, and her ears turning a brighter shade of red.
“Oh no, Cole…” She muffled, blinking her long lashes against her skin. She took a couple of steps back before she looked up at me again.
“I’m sorry, Cole…” She sighed.
Wait! Is she going to reject me? Right on the spot? Coldly and harshly? Why?
“Wait!” I cut in. “I’m telling you this, not because I want to hear your reply… ”
I watched Dawn crease her brows, a frown latched on her face.
Oh no! I won’t give her what she wants. I won’t let her have her way.
“Then why?” She mumbled. “Why are you telling me this?”
“Because I’m getting married to you.”
Dawn chuckled.” getting married to me? Even without my consent? Oh no, Cole. This is not you”
As if she knows me that much. Ugh!
“That’s why I’m telling you to love me. No! Accept my love for you. ”
Running a tongue over her lip, Dawn angrily ran her hand through her hair. “I’m with your brother.”
“I do not care, pretty.” I smiled.
With my brother? That asshole doesn’t know what love is. “Ethan is nothing but a…”
“Not a Playboy!” She snapped.
Now she’s defending him.
I clenched and unclenched my fist, my teeth gritted together, trying so hard to bite back the curse that was just at the tip of my tongue.
“You know nothing about Ethan,” I said as calmly as I could.
“And I just realized that my assumption about you is all a lie. ” She rolled her pretty eyes.
Okay! Just a few days ago, I was curious about what she thought about me, but not now. I don’t care about her thoughts.
Ugh! Why can’t she just accept the reality and face it squarely?
“I don’t care about what people say about Ethan…” Dawn shook her head with a little smile tugged at the corner of her lips. “He loves me…”
The intercom dung and the elevator stopped moving.
Dawn darted her eyes from me to the door, and I followed her gaze too which landed on Melinda.
There’s a moment of silence except for the exchange of glare between the two ladies, making the temperature in the elevator drop drastically.
Dawn huffed, she stylishly brushed her brown curly hair and straightened her shoulder.
“Ethan loves me,” she smiled. “And I love him too.”
What?
Settling her gaze back on me, Dawn flashed me a sheepish grin, before she walked out of the elevator, brushing her shoulder against Melinda’s roughly.
Melinda scoffed. “He loves her? That bitch!”
“If I were you, I’d mind my language” I frowned at her.
Melinda smirked. She cocked her brows at me. “Too bad you’re not me.” She rolled her eyes.
I tilted my head forward, a smirk playing across my lips as I gazed at her.
“I’m not nice, Mel.”
“That explains why I’m here to meet you,” she smirked.
“What?”
“I want Ethan back.”
Ugh! What a joke she is. Didn’t Grandpa say she doesn’t want to get married to Ethan because he’s a Playboy?
What changed? What makes her change her fucking mind.
“That is new…” I scoffed, my hand rubbing my temple slowly. “For someone who willingly said she’s never gonna get married to a Playboy… ”
“That was then, ” Mel cut in sharply with a roll of her eyes.
She sighed, folding her hand beneath her breast. She straightened her posture and leveled her gaze with mine.
Alright! I don’t like the look in her eyes, and I don’t wanna think that I’m fucking right about that.
“You heard what that bitch…”
“Don’t. You. Dare. Call. Her. That!” I gritted out, punctuating every of my words.
How dare she!
“Fine!” She huffed. “You heard what she said, didn’t you?”
“I’d pretend never to hear that.”
Ignoring me, Melinda continued anyway.
“I don’t want her and Ethan together. Ethan is my man.”
And Dawn is my woman!
“So?” I cocked my brows. “Go get your man.”
“You think I’d be here if I could?”
“And that left me wondering why on Earth you’ll stop me here.”
Sighing, Melinda stepped into the elevator, pressing the close button.
She leaned forward, her long black hair sprouting down to her chest.
“We both want the same thing, Nicole.” She grinned. “Let’s work together to separate both of them.”
