Ethan’s POV
“Are you sure you wanna get high tonight?” Andre settled beside me, pouring me another glass of vodka.
“This is the second bottle, you know.”
“And you know how well I can hold my alcohol.” I slurred my drink, dropping the empty glass back on the table.
“Wanna tell me what’s going on now?” Said Andre. He poured another drink and handed it over to me.
Because I love you!
Okay, I don’t know how that statement slipped off my mouth, but after saying it, I realized how much of the truth there is…
For fuck sake, I don’t know how it happened? But seeing her with Nicole, hearing him say those words to her made my blood burn. It makes my heart burnt with rage.
Oh yeah! I was jealous!
It’s supposed to be me. Does she not belong to me? Why on Earth will she be betrothed to that classic asshole?
“I don’t know how it happened?” I sighed.
I ran a hand through my hair and gulped down my drink again.
What if Andre was right? What if I’m not only sexually attracted to her anymore? What if I’d fallen head over the hill with her?
Of course, that’d be the case!
Seeing the look in her eyes earlier when she saw me with Melinda made me realize something…
She was hurt, and I was mad for seeing that look in her eyes.
“How happened?” Andre passed me a quizzical look.
Damn him! It was all his fault all along! Maybe… Just maybe if he’d not said something about ‘ love ‘, maybe I wouldn’t have spent my night thinking about that.
No! Or maybe it’s not his fault. After all, I had been out of my way because of Dawn.
She made me do things I don’t normally do.
“What… What if you’re right?”
It’s not a question, it’s a statement, I cannot just help but be skeptical.
“Right?” Andre creased his brows, his curiosity latched eyes fixed on me. “Right about what?”
I sighed. I poured myself another drink and gulped it down.
Oh! Get yourself together, Ethan!
I blinked back the tipsiness in my eyes and ran another hand through my hair.
I’m frustrated… Not because I finally realized that Dawn is my weakness, my obsession, and someone got my heart thudding so hard it hurts.
Realizing that, even if I did not want to believe it, I had made out with Melinda just to prove myself wrong.
It’s a false alarm! No! My heart won’t beat for her, would it? I don’t love it. I’m just not a one lady’s man! I’m only obsessed with her fucking body
But I was wrong! Making out with Melinda just makes matters worse!
I hate being with other lady as much as I hate my kitten being with other men!
But I can’t believe how my kitten gaped at me as though I had just said the most forbidden word in the entire universe.
“It’s not funny,” her words replayed in my head.
I could imagine the hurt in her eyes as she said those words.
Hey! I wasn’t joking either. I sincerely have no idea how it happened!
“Don’t try to cook up a lie just because you don’t want to see me with Cole.” She had huffed.
Ugh! Can’t she just look into my eyes? Why won’t she see that I’m saying nothing but the goddamned truth!
I poured myself another drink, but Andre snatched it away from me.
“Tell me what’s going on?” He hissed. He gulped down my drink.
I threw him a glare and he merely shrugged his shoulders.
“You don’t wanna keep drinking without telling me why on Earth you called me here.”
Ah! True! I didn’t call him here as my drinking buddy, I want to share my problem with him.
But how? I don’t want him laughing at me, and telling me how he’s right just because he’s damn right.
“You’re right,” I finally said, looking anywhere but at him.
I don’t want to see the scowl on his face. I don’t wanna see his triumphant grin.
“I’m always right,” said Andre, “but I seriously don’t know what I got right this time.”
Ugh! And here we come again.
Running another frustrated hand through my hair, I bit my lower lip, ran a tongue over it, and sucked in a harsh breath.
“I’m not sure how it happened, it just happened,” I breathed out. “Maybe you’re right about me loving her.”
I held my breath, my eyes tightly closed, and lips sealed together, patiently waiting for what he’s gonna say.
Fuck! I don’t want to hear his cackle or his jeer.
“Wait… what?” Andre half yelled, his deep-throated voice ringing through the four corners of the deserted room. “Who? Dawn… no, I mean, your brother’s betrothal?”
I snapped my gaze open, throwing a harsh glare at Andre who shrink back into his chair.
Out of many things, I hate it so much if Dawn is being addressed as my brother’s betrothal.
She’s mine… just mine!
“Fine,” Andre raised his hand in the air. “Not my fault.”
Lifting my gaze away from Andre, I wrapped my hand around the glasses, fixing my gaze on the small red liquid in them.
“So,” I sighed. “What are you going to say about this?”
I heard Andre sigh, and I could imagine his tongue licking his lower lip as dances the glasses in his eyes.
“I don’t know,” he finally said.
Don’t know?
“She knows? Does she?”
“I told her,”
“What?” Andre yelled, but he was quick to clap his hand over his mouth to muffle his scream. “You told her? And she said what?”
I released a low sigh, shaking my head slowly.
“Oh, I get it,” he chuckled. “You were rejected, weren’t you?”
Yeah! I was rejected… on the spot… coldly, harshly, and brutally.
Andre grabbed my shoulder, massaging it soothingly.
“I don’t know what to say to this,” he said. “We’re both new to this, buddy. But then… maybe you’d have to give her some time. Who knows, she must have known you as a Playboy.”
I was fucking seen making out with my so-called blind date. What do I expect her to do? To jump on me and hug me tightly for saying that I love her?
I mentally chuckled. I rubbed my temple slowly before I poured myself a drink.
“Don’t try to stop me,” I mumbled. “I wanna go high tonight.”
“Hey! I still need to get to the club!”
“Take me to your house and do your darn business when I’m relaxing my head.”
“Or you wanna tag along?”
I threw him a harsh glare.
“Just joking…”
He better be!
****
I parked the car roughly and hopped down the car, snapping the car door roughly… Not caring whether it’s close or not.
My head throbbed, and my eyes sting, but the pain in my heart couldn’t give me the chance to acknowledge those pains.
I fisted my hand, my body shaking…. was it in pain, fury, or frustration? As I blindly made my way in.
“Wel….”
I made my way upstairs, walking past Cliff who tried to greet me.
Well… I’m more concerned about something else now than his silly greetings.
How could she? No! How dare she?
I barged my way into the room, earning a loud short gasp from Dawn.
Seeing her curled up on the bed, the duvet around her, I unclenched my fist and took calculated steps towards her.
Fuck! She fucking scared me!
“Hey,” Dawn frowned. “What was that about?”
I fetched my phone from my pocket and threw it down on the bed.
“That was a joke, right?”
“What joke?” Dawn muttered, her eyes moving too quickly from my phone to my face.
Alright! Fine I know she’s mad at me about what happened yesterday, but to just call off everything suddenly?
“That!” I glared at my phone as though it was the one that offended me.
Dawn peeked at the phone and then back at me.
She ran her tongue over her lips and sighed.
“That…” She mouthed. “That wasn’t a joke.”
My shoulder tensed, everything stopped moving and the pain in my head intensified.
I felt my heart tighten and my mouth suddenly dried up.
“Let’s end this,” she mumbled. “Let’s terminate our contract, Ethan.”
