AUTHOR’S POV
” I could drop you off at your place to repay the favor,” Sydney offered as she and Gabriel headed towards her car.
Logan stood beside the Mercedes awaiting Sydney. She didn’t want to ask Terry to bring her car, so, Gavin wouldn’t know about her arrival.
At least she’d have the benefit of seeing the look on his face when she arrived.
If he cared.
” Don’t fuss; I’ve got to be somewhere before heading home.”
” The journey back here was quite hectic; you need to rest, Gabriel.” Sydney expressed.
A smile spread across Gabriel’s lips. ” Are you worried about me?”
Sydney shrugged nonchalantly, ” Yes, and so? You’ve done a lot for me, you didn’t even get to sleep last night, yet you flew us back.”
They stayed in the park for quite a long after that, Gabriel had to leave to check if the jet was fit for flying. When he returned, he told her to get ready to leave.
” Mrs. Reed.” Logan acknowledged with a nod as he handed Sydney her keys.
” Thank you, Logan.” She smiled and collected the keys.
Logan, who hadn’t noticed Gabriel, went pale immediately when he caught Gabriel’s gaze. Gabriel wore a hard scowl as he looked at Logan.
” Are you okay Logan?” Sydney asked as she noticed Logan began to sweat.
Logan stuttered, ” No… I mean ye… yes, I’m fine Mrs. Reed, I have to go now.”
Without waiting for her response, he took off like someone was after him.
Sydney looked at him as he vanished, then at Gabriel, who was frowning while staring at her.
” You scared him.” She chuckled feeling a bit uneasy about the way Logan looked.
Nothing was scary about Gabriel, he looked like a nice man. Maybe it was the hard look Gabriel wore that scared Logan.
Gabriel opened the driver’s door for Sydney to get in. He watched her as she put on her seatbelt, a frown was still plastered across his face.
” Logan can act a bit off sometimes, I’m sorry about the way he reacted.” Sydney apologized when she noticed Gabriel’s mood had changed.
Gabriel shrugged, ” It doesn’t bother me. Drive safely Sydney.”
She nodded and he closed the door, stepping back. Sydney slid the key in the ignition and looked at him.
” Do you think the club president would let you play tomorrow?” Sydney asked with a smile.
Gabriel grinned. ” I’m not sure; maybe if I have a female opponent, he may.”
” See you tomorrow then.”
Gabriel watched as Sydney drove off. His grin immediately slid off his face when the car had vanished from his sight.
On cue, his phone rang.
” Good news boss!” Jacob exclaimed immediately Gabriel answered the call.
Gabriel looked at the vague image of a car approaching when he said, ” Spill it.”
Jacob wasted no time, ” It seems Miss. White is pregnant.”
Gabriel’s eyes widened; he switched the phone to his other ear and ordered Jacob to continue.
” She has a boyfriend who claims the child is his, but she denies it. She seems smarter than I thought, it’s like she knows someone is watching her.”
Gabriel knew how cunning Avery could be. From the time he’d been monitoring her every move, he could tell what her next step would be. Take the pregnancy as Gavin’s.
Gabriel smiled and said, ” Keep on watching; send me the video, and make sure you find anything you need to know about that boyfriend of hers.”
” Noted boss.”
Gabriel slid his phone back into his pocket as he walked to the Lamborghini parked in the outdoor hardstand.
” Tell me you f**ked her,” Gil said as Gabriel entered into the passenger seat next to him.
Gabriel looked at Gil with a glare. ” You know she’s married and I didn’t fly her to Arizona to sleep with her.”
Gil scoffed. ” Since when did you care if she’s married or not? You sent Jacob to ruin her marriage after all.”
Gabriel stared out the car window as Gil drove. Sometimes, he wondered why he hung out with Gil.
” I’m not ruining her marriage. I’m only trying to help her get out of it before she’d regret it.”
Avery could be with Gavin for all he cared. He would make them pay for what they had done to Sydney, but first, he needed to get her out of the marriage, and Avery was the perfect tool.
Gil glanced at Gabriel and back at the road. ” I know what’s going on in that head of yours Gabriel. I wouldn’t blame you. Sydney is very s*xy and hard to resist but don’t overdo it, Gabriel.”
Gabriel’s fist clenched, and his mind resurfaced back to Logan. The man b!*ch he’d been looking for was in California and working for Sydney.
Gil was seldom serious, but this time, he spoke with seriousness. ” Your feelings did no good to Ariana, don’t let history repeat itself.”
Gabriel waited for a while before he spoke, ” I saw her lover.”
” Who? Ariana?” Gil asked in disbelief.
” I believe he’s Sydney’s driver. He saw me; I don’t think he’d be in Beverly Hills for too long.”
Gil looked at Gabriel, ” How would he? He’d been scared shitless after what you did to him. Did you see his scars?”
” He wore long sleeves.”
Gabriel felt uneasy. What if Logan told Sydney who he really was? She’d see him as a maniac, just like his ex-wife did.
That can’t happen. He’d make sure of it.
Whether it meant taking a life or not, Gabriel didn’t care.
