Jade’s pov:
Now that our bond sparks came back with passion, I was amazed at the feeling, almost as if I were newly mated to Alex.
As I leaned against his chest, sated but also high on adrenaline the thought of possibly getting caught being the biggest turn-on I couldn’t help but think of everything that had occurred over the past few weeks.
Ever since Camelia stepped into our lives, it seemed like we could barely talk things through. She had managed to plant the seed of doubt in me, despite my love for my mate and my devotion to the pack.
“A penny for your thoughts, love?” Alex asked as he caressed my cheek lovingly.
“I am angry at Camelia but also at myself,” I admitted sotto-voce. “I love you more than I could put it into words, and yet she still managed to drift us apart somehow.”
Alex’s expression turned grim at once, and I inhaled deeply as I tried to keep my emotions in check.
What if that damned witch had succeeded in separating us totally? What if Alex could no longer recognize me as his mate?
“I thought you needed time and space after your father’s passing,” he conceded in a soft tone of voice, “It wasn’t my intention for distance to set in between us.”
I pondered his words for a moment, and then soon flashed him a small tentative smile, “I know you meant well, Alex, but please keep smothering with your affection. I have grown used to this love language of yours.”
He captured my lips in yet another kiss, a searing one where our lips molded together, our teeth clashed, and our tongues battled for dominance.
When we parted for air and his eyes bore into mine, they weren’t their usual vivid green but rather a deep haunting black. His wolf had obviously taken over, and I found myself ginning at him, “Why, hello there.”
My greeting was meant to be a teasing one, and it seemed to work for he smirked at me.
“Hello, mate,” he said gruffly, before his gaze traveled down my body, like a loving caress… My breath hitched in my throat, and I had difficulty breathing properly for a moment there.
“I want to assure you that no potion, no spell, and no curse will keep me from you,” he declared hotly, to which I nodded at him in earnest. “Till death do us apart, I swear to be yours.”
“Same,” I squeaked out, blushing and yet unable to stop myself from getting emotional, as my eyes misted with tears.
Alex’s eyes reverted to green, and he caressed my cheek again, while telling me in a soothing tone of voice, “Don’t cry, love.”
“It’s the hormones,” I said defensively, to which he chuckled at me.
I narrowed my eyes at him, not quite sure I liked his chuckling at my expenses.
“Naturally,” he nodded at me in a mock serious manner.
I rose to my feet at that, and soon began to get dressed.
“Are you angry at me, love?” He asked, stifling yet another chuckle.
I turned to him, giving him the stink eye because I wanted to make him sweat a little, and turned back again.
“If anything, I sense that you’re playful, not angry,” he mused out loud, the ghost of a smirk settling over his face.
And that was when I couldn’t help the giggles that escaped me.
“You play dirty,” I whined after a moment.
“All is fair in love and war,” he deadpanned, not in the least bit repentant.
He left the sofa and began to get dressed as well. I went to open the window, a smile on my face, intent on making the stuffy sex atmosphere dissipate a little bit.
“I will stop at nothing to make you smile, Jade. That’s how much I love you,” he declared after a moment.
My smile broadened but I still let out in a voice full of reprimand, “It’s love to you.”
“Yes, love,” he agreed readily.

Alex’s pov:
Knowing that Luc and Trevor were handling the witch and interrogating her, I didn’t bother going to the dungeon myself. I indulged in a passionate and loving moment with Jade before we headed out to the clinic, hand in hand.
It had been a while since we were this close, since we were on the same page… And while I regretted bringing in Camelia, I believed that Jade’s personality wasn’t quite the same as mine. I tended to have easy confrontations without delay whenever the need arose. Jade, on the other hand, wanted to avoid confrontation and acted accordingly.
As we reached the clinic, after being greeted by many pack members on the way, a nurse soon welcomed us in.
“Can I see Dr Barnes?” Jade asked in a sweet tone of voice.
“Sure,” the nurse nodded at her, a big smile stretching her lips.
Dr Adam Barnes was the only gynecologist of the pack, and I only just understood how inconvenient that was.
We were soon led to this office, where he proceeded to welcome us in with a smile.
“Hello, alpha, luna. How have you been?”
“We’ve been well”, I declared matter-of-factly.
“Better than well,” Jade beamed at him, and I felt my jealousy flaring at once. I had to keep smiling and bit on the inside of my cheek to prevent myself from growling at him. “We are expecting.”
“Oh, congrats, Luna Jade. Congrats Alpha Xander,” he said at once.
Soon, he was motioning to Jade to lay down. And before long, I was by her side, while we all looked at the screen and he probed her abdomen with the ultrasound.
