Johanna fell down from the force of Victoria’s slap, she was shocked before getting up and pointing at Victoria, “Victoria! You really slapped me twice!”
“Victoria! Don’t you understand what you’re doing?!” Kc exclaimed, surprised.
“Do you not know the consequences of your actions? Do you realize you’re on Johanna’s husband’s territory?!” Erica angrily interjected before turning to Manager Jen, “Manager Jen, don’t you have anything to say about this?”
Manager Jen smiled, “I don’t think the chairman will be angry at what Victoria did, first of all, many saw Johanna causing trouble for Victoria. Everyone knows that the chairman is reasonable and will never side with the unreasonable. If you all testify, the chairman might thank you. But if you lie to him, you know the consequences!” Manager Jen said strongly, warning everyone.
The atmosphere suddenly shifted. They understood what Manager Jen meant; it was like a battle against the chairman. Most nodded at what Manager Jen said before they mocked Johanna, others felt sorry for Lucas for having such an unreasonable wife.
Johanna was annoyed by the sudden turn of events before giving Manager Jen a displeased look, “Manager Jen, have you forgotten whose side you’re on?” she warned.
“Manager Jen, why does it seem like you’re favoring Victoria over madam?” Erica asked in surprise.
Manager Jen smiled, “Of course, I side with whoever is in the right.”
They all fell silent upon hearing Manager Jen’s words, Johanna grew even angrier, “I won’t stand for not being able to beat you up!” she said coldly before shouting and pointing at Victoria, “Where are the guards, hold this woman and kneel her in front of me!”
Three guards approached, but hesitated to act immediately, confused as to who the woman shouting was. Erica saw the guards hesitating and angrily shouted, “What are you staring at? Haven’t you heard the chairman’s wife orders?!”
The three guards looked at each other, realizing that if they didn’t act immediately, they would offend the chairman’s wife. Two guards then grabbed Victoria, “Johanna, stop pretending, I’m telling you, the consequences won’t be good for you pretending to be the chairman’s wife!” Victoria said calmly.
Johanna didn’t care, she approached step by step before finally slapping Victoria in frustration.
Slap!
“You’re saying too much, Victoria! Have you forgotten who I am and who you are?” Johanna said angrily.
“I’m warning you, Johanna, stop your delusions, or else–”
Slap!
Victoria received another slap, Johanna glared at her before speaking in a cold voice, “Victoria, what can you do? Everything here is under my control, that’s the difference between us!” she arrogantly said, raising her hand as if ready to slap Victoria again.
“Stop!”
A cold voice was heard from the entrance, everyone turned to see a handsome man with a strong physique, wearing a black suit, with a terrifying look of intent to kill, anger and coldness in his eyes. Beside him, there was a respectful man and a beautiful woman in a designer dress with simple but expensive jewelry.
The man hurriedly walked towards the commotion.
Upon seeing this, Erica grinned, “Victoria, you’re done for, the chairman is very angry.”
“So what if you got this project, you’re just an intern, in front of the chairman’s wife, you’re nothing! He can step on you if he wants to,” Kc arrogantly said as if she were the chairman’s wife.
As Lucas approached, Erica blocked him and said, “Chairman, let the Mistress teach this unruly person–”
She was cut off when Lucas ignored her and went straight to Victoria. “Let her go!” Lucas said coldly to the two guards. They immediately released Victoria, trembling in fear as she met Lucas’s cold gaze.
Lucas touched Victoria’s swollen cheek, “Does it hurt?” he asked in a calm tone but with anger in his eyes.
Victoria shook her head before taking Lucas’s hand, “I’m okay,” she said with a smile.
Erica was confused, “Chairman, why are you helping that dog?”
Lucas gave Erica a cold look before nodding to Lorenzo, leaving Erica puzzled about Lucas’ intentions when suddenly, a slap landed on her cheek.
Erica recoiled from the force, her ears ringing and her vision spinning. She stumbled backwards before falling to the ground, her nose bleeding, as Lorenzo delivered strong slap.
“What’s happening, Madam?” Kc softly asked Johanna.
Johanna was also confused but had some suspicion about Lucas’ strong reaction and his intimacy with Victoria.
Lucas heard Kc and gave him a cold look before glancing at Johanna, “Hold this woman and make her kneel,” Lucas ordered the two guards who hold Victoria.
Johanna tried to resist but was quickly held and forced to kneel by the two guards. “Let me go!” Johanna screamed.
“Chairman, what are you doing to your wife?!” Kc exclaimed, bewildered.
“Be quiet!” Lucas coldly reprimanded.
Kc fell silent, then walked toward Erica to help her stand, as she was struggling to get up. “What’s going on?” Erica asked as Kc approached, still feeling dizzy from the strong slap.
“I don’t know,” Kc replied.
Lucas turned to another guard, “You, slap her. Don’t stop until I say so,” Lucas ordered coldly.
“Yes, sir,” the other guard nodded. He shuddered at Lucas’ cold voice, then proceeded to step forward towards Johanna and delivered a strong slap.
With each slap, Johanna’s face contorted in pain. Kc and Erica gasped, surprised by Lucas’ actions, unable to speak out of fear of facing a similar fate as Johanna.
“Chairman, isn’t this too much! I only slapped that lowly woman!” Johanna shouted, her lip bleeding.
Lucas ignored her and held Victoria’s hand. While the guard continued slapping Johanna, in front of everyone, Lucas and Victoria walked to the stage. Lucas picked up the mic before speaking, “Thank you to all who attended this event. I want to announce that the woman beside me is the leader of this project. She created the concept and organized the entire idea of this project. I witnessed her staying up late into the night while working.” He paused briefly, motioning for the guards to stop slapping Johanna before continuing.
“Tonight, I will also introduce my beloved wife,” he paused again, looking around.
Kc approached a bruised Johanna, “Madam, it’s time for you to be introduced by your husband.”
“Wait! That woman is not deserving to be on stage!” Johanna suddenly shouted, refusing to let Victoria take the limelight.
Johanna clapped to grab everyone’s attention, noticing all eyes on her, she looked at Victoria before pointing, “This woman, she is not suitable to lead this project. I found out that she is in a relationship with Manager Felix, the elderly manager of a restaurant under the Luca Group. I even suspect she has a relationship with Mr. Alejo, which is how she got this project,” Johanna confidently stated.
“Do you have any basis for what you’re saying?” Lucas asked.
“Basis? Manager Felix’s respect toward a bumpkin like Victoria is proof enough, add to that her free meals after eating expensive food in the restaurant, and as for Mr. Alejo,” she paused, smiling, “Victoria is just an intern. How could Mr. Alejo allow her to handle this project if they didn’t have a relationship?” she said, her words sounding truthful.
Johanna displayed a smug look after saying those words, thinking it would stir up emotions in everyone present to remove Victoria as the project leader.
As Johanna daydreamed, the woman with Lucas walked in through the door earlier facing Johanna and gave her a strong slap.
