Smiling, Lucas said, “It’s not yet the time for you to know everything, but this surname is my real last name, I just used my grandfather’s last name who adopted me.”
“Whatever the reason is why you don’t want to say it, I will respect you. If you’re ready, just tell me, I will listen to your story and I will accompany you whatever is behind your past. But based on your conversation earlier, you seem to be involved with the mafia, nevertheless, I just want you to be careful because some of them are traitors,” Victoria said before hugging Lucas.
“Thank you, my love,” Lucas said before hugging Victoria. ‘You are right, there are many traitors in the dark part of the world,’ he thought about his past.
“Let’s sleep, what time is it, there’s still work tomorrow,” Victoria said before lying down on the bed and falling asleep.
Lucas also laid beside Victoria and hugged her. ‘Victoria, I cannot expose my true identity to the enemy yet,’ he thought before closing his eyes and drifting off to sleep.

The next day when Victoria arrived at the company, she saw Manager Jen looking nervous as if she waiting for someone at the company’s entrance. Victoria walked closer. Manager Jen showed an awkward smile when she saw Victoria. “Madam, forgive me for my past mistakes. I was deceived and I can’t figure out who the chairman’s true wife is,” she said, head bowed.
Victoria was not surprised as she already noticed Manager Jen’s behavior last night. “You are smarter than those two flies. I am not surprised that you became a manager. I will overlook this, but do not expose my identity. Let Johanna continue pretending, just make sure to act as if she is the real wife of the chairman,” Victoria said.
Manager Jen nodded like a dog, “Yes, yes, madam, you can trust that I will not reveal the truth.”
Victoria nodded with understanding. Manager Jen’s expression showed surprise, “Madam, why do you hide your identity? You do not need to be an intern; your skills in design are excellent. When I saw your draft, it seemed familiar but I can’t remember where I’ve seen it.”
Victoria smiled, “I do not want others to think that I have achieved success because of my husband’s title. Even though Lucas wants me to become a director, I declined. I want to progress based on my abilities, not because of someone else.”
Manager Jen was impressed by Victoria’s humility. Despite Johanna’s claim that Victoria was adopted and grew up on a farm, there was no sign of hardship in Victoria, even when she dressed simply. Manager Jen was stunned.
“Let’s go before someone sees us. You go ahead,” Victoria said in a firm yet modest tone.
Manager Jen nodded before entering the office, relieved that she had cleared things up with Victoria. She was thankful that Victoria was not too offended, otherwise, she did not know what would have happened.
Upon Manager Jen’s arrival at their department, she observed Johanna’s comfortable life, Manager Jen thought to herself, ‘The true wife works hard, while this imposter enjoys an easy life, just sitting around.’ Manager Jen felt annoyed, wanting to expose Johanna entirely, but she had to continue pretending.
She walked past them, smiled, and proceeded to her office. They did not notice the change in their manager. After a few minutes, Victoria also arrived, sat at her desk, and ignored everyone.
Johanna remembered what happened last night and she was annoyed. She lost a month’s allowance from her father, so now she needed to save because her salary was still a long way off. She couldn’t stand seeing Victoria looking nice while she was almost broke. They almost couldn’t leave last night if she didn’t plead with her father.
Johanna whispered a few words to Erica, who nodded before taking a glass of water and slowly walked towards Victoria. In the mirror, Victoria saw Erica approaching with water and wondered what she was up to. Victoria set aside the project she was working on, and when she saw Erica about to pour water on her, she pretended to stretch and accidentally spilled the water on Erica instead of Victoria.
“Ahh!” Erica exclaimed as she felt the cold water flowing down her body.
Victoria stood up and pretended to help Erica dry herself, “Those tricks won’t work on me. Think carefully about the other cards you’re hiding before using them on me,” she whispered to Erica.
“Victoria!” Erica’s eyes widened, she didn’t expect that Victoria did it on purpose, feeling embarrassed. She removed Victoria’s hand, glared at her before turning and heading to the restroom. Kc and Johanna followed Erica after seeing their plan fail.
Victoria smiled before sitting down and continued with her work.
In the restroom, Erica was irritated as she wiped herself before Johanna and Kc entered. “What did Victoria say to you?” Johanna asked.
“She said our deception is too shallow, that we’re brainless to use such tricks on her,” Erica said, trying to stoke the fire.
“Did she really say that?” Johanna got angry.
Seeing Johanna angry, Erica was pleased, “Yes, she even said we should use everything we have.”
Johanna slammed the wall in the restroom, “This Victoria, she hasn’t paid for what she did last night, yet she smiled wickedly, “Did you notice how careful Manager Felix was in front of Victoria last night? Could Victoria be involved with the old man?”
Kc nodded, “Yes, I also noticed that Manager Felix was respectful to someone from the mountains.”
“Shameless Victoria, that’s why she had the audacity to boast last night and she seemed familiar with the place, maybe she often eats there for free because she’s a woman of Manager Felix,” Erica remarked, unable to forget the slap she received from Victoria last night.
“Let’s go back now, let’s just wait and we’ll find a use for this news,” Johanna said, showing a wicked smile.
