Glen’s POV
“Home sweet home,” Jace said loudly when we stepped out of the car.
He looked very excited and happy to be back.
“Everyone, come on in,” he said and then walked ahead of all of us.
“Let’s get going then,” Sky said happily and then extended his hand to Harley.
“Brother, wait,” I said seriously, getting his attention as well as hers.
“May I have a word with Harley, if that’s okay with you?” I asked.
He looked at her seriously and then smiled.
“Sure,” he answered while he dropped his hand.
“Don’t take too long,” he said in a low tone and then walked away.
She was looking at me with a cold expression on her face.
“What is it?” she asked seriously.
“I apologize if I offended you in any way. I just wanted to know how you are holding up,” I answered.
She looked surprised by my question but composed herself.
“I’m doing just fine,” she said softly.
“It’s funny, but back at the hotel, I kept looking back, thinking you would come my way. I also felt a little lonely and sad,” I said honestly.
She folded her arms and glared at me.
“What exactly do you want me to say to you?” she asked seriously.
“Nothing,” I answered quickly.
“I don’t want you to do anything. Rather, I was just being honest about how I feel. I am so sorry if it sounded disrespectful,” I said.
She dropped her hands and sighed heavily.
“Glen, what exactly do you want from me?” she asked seriously.
Everything! I wanted everything she would offer-be it friendship, love, time, attention, or her very being.
I wanted it all.
I was about to tell her just that when Dominic took over.
“We started off on the wrong foot, and I deeply regretted my actions. As you can see, we are now family, and acting cold towards each other would only make my brother feel uncomfortable, not to mention our mother,” he said, then extended his hand to her.
“If it’s not too much to ask, can we start all over again as friends?” he asked, pulling back and giving me full control.
His words were okay, but she didn’t want anything to do with us. She was definitely going to walk away to prove how badly she didn’t want us.
I was taken aback when she grabbed my hand and shook it.
“Hi Glen, I’m Harley. It’s nice to meet you, my new friend,” she said in a playful tone.
“Pleasure! It’s all my pleasure to meet you, Harley,” I responded, smiling widely.
She smiled back for a second, then frowned and looked at our hands.
“You can let go of my hand, new friend,” she said seriously.
“Right,” I whispered, then dropped my hand.
“Harley, since we are now friends, I was wondering if we could go….”
“Luna, there you are,” Paul’s voice cut me short.
He was approaching us with a cell phone in his hand.
“I’m really glad to see you both,” he said when he stood close to us.
“I apologize for interrupting your conversation, but I wanted to ask if you have Molly’s cell phone number. When she left, I forgot to get it,” he said simply.
“Well, I did memorize it,” she answered.
“Excellent, can I have it?” he asked simply.
“Of course,” she answered.
He quickly handed her his cell phone. When he looked at me, he gave a low bow to show his respect.
“There,” she answered after she was done adding the number.
“Thank you very much,” he said when he got back the cell phone from her.
He looked at the number and quickly dialed it.
I didn’t know why he was still standing with us when he had gotten what he wanted. He was really annoying me because I wanted to talk to her alone.
“Hi, it’s me,” he said, then fell silent.
When he frowned deeply, he looked at Harley.
“What’s wrong?” Harley whispered.
He moved the phone from his ear and put it on loudspeaker.
“As I said to you, you son of a bitch, stay away from my daughter. You are married, and you do have a daughter. She gets it. So stop calling her on different lines just to apologize and make your sorry ass feel a little better!” a man’s voice warned.
“My gosh, she can’t even get out of bed because of you. Have you no shame?” the man asked in a pained voice.
She quickly grabbed his phone and moved it close to her ear.
“I’m Harley, Molly’s colleague and close friend. What do you mean by all that?” she asked in a very concerned tone.
“Oh, Harley, finally I get to hear your voice. I have heard so much about you from our daughter. I am sorry for suddenly yelling at the man who answered. I assumed it was Victor,” the man said.
“Molly, how is she?” she asked loudly.
“Terrible. It’s been three days, and she hasn’t eaten a thing or come out of her bedroom,” he answered.
Paul quickly turned and rushed into the pack house.
“I will be right there,” she said seriously and then disconnected the call.
She was about to turn when I grabbed her hand.
“I am going back with you,” I said seriously.
“No, you can’t,” she answered loudly.
“Why is that? Molly is my employee, as far as I know. And as her boss, it’s only natural to worry about her well-being,” I said seriously.
She pulled back her hand and slowly began to walk ahead.
“If you do come with me, promise me you won’t act all bossy and cold like you did in the past,” she said seriously.
“I promise,” I answered with a smile and then quickly walked to her side.
“I will be very kind and understanding,” I said.
We both stopped walking when Paul came out of the pack house with a bag and car keys. Harvey and Edith were right behind him, talking to him.
“I told you I am going to her side. She needs me now more than ever,” he said loudly.
“We get it, but at least tell us what is wrong with her,” Harvey said.
“She’s not well; that’s all I can say,” he answered and then walked past us.
“Then allow me to take you there through a portal because driving will take you a few days,” Edith said loudly.
He immediately stopped in his tracks and turned to face her.
“You are serious?” he asked.
“Of course I am,” she answered simply.
“Then please do,” he said.
“We will be going with him,” I said as they looked at me.
“Why?” he asked seriously.
“Harley wants to see her; she is very worried. And I am concerned too, as her boss and employer,” I answered.
“Harley, are you going?” Edith asked in surprise.
“Yes, I am. If you don’t mind, I would like you to come with us too,” she said as Edith looked at Harvey.
“You can go with them; just be sure to return the next day, okay?” he said softly.
She nodded and then hugged him.
“Shouldn’t you go in and inform Sky of your decision?” I asked Harley.
“You are right,” she answered and then rushed back in.
I didn’t want to push my luck, but there was just no way I was going to remain.
