Molly’s POV
I didn’t know what to do, and I was surprised by how Paul was acting. He didn’t say a word to me, but he made sure to stay by my side and help me with whatever I needed.
He looked very concerned, and he understood me without even saying a word. It felt like we had known each other for a very long time.
“Paul,” I called softly.
“Yes,” he answered, and then slowly sat at the edge of the bed facing me.
“Don’t you have to go back home?” I asked seriously, and that seemed to upset him because he stood up with a glare.
“Do you not want me here with you?” he asked seriously.
“I do, and that’s even crazier considering how you are a stranger to me,” I answered loudly and then sat upright.
“You aren’t a stranger to me,” he said calmly.
“What do you mean by that?” I asked, then rubbed my forehead to calm myself down.
“Look, you have a life of your own, and I have a life of my own. We know nothing about each other, and we are total strangers,” I said seriously, then widened my eyes when he got on the bed, moving in front of me.
“I don’t care about the life I have or what life you have, or if we don’t know each other, because we can always get to know each other over time. I also want you badly,” he said as I swallowed hard and then looked at his lips.
It was crazy because everything he said didn’t freak me out; rather, it made me very happy. At that moment, I could only think of how his lips would feel against mine because I wanted him too.
He smirked and then leaned in. My heart was beating rapidly, and our lips were an inch apart.
When he pulled back and stood upright, fixing his clothes, I frowned, surprised at his actions.
“Molly,” Harley’s voice came through.
I looked at the closed door and then at Paul.
Did he know that she was at the door, or was it just a coincidence?
“Yes, Harley, please come in,” I answered.
The door opened, and she walked in with Sky behind her.
Paul quickly bowed low, and that made me bow my head low as well. I had no idea why he was doing that, but I felt like I too should do it.
“Molly, you don’t have to do that,” Harley said softly as she moved closer.
I looked up and smiled, then looked at Sky, whose gaze was fixed on Paul, who still was bowing low.
“Gamma, raise your head,” he said as Paul looked up and stood upright.
“Molly, I’m sorry I left you all alone for hours,” she said, then grabbed my hands.
I looked at Paul, who looked at me and then smiled.
“I wasn’t alone; I was with Paul, who took good care of me,” I answered and then looked at her.
“I’m glad,” she replied.
“Paul, thank you,” she said.
“It’s nothing, Luna; she is my mate after all,” he answered.
“Mate?” I asked seriously.
Was he implying that I was his friend?
“Anyway, Molly, Sky and I will be going back to the company, and I was wondering if you wanted to come along,” she said, ignoring my question.
“Well, I wasn’t going to stay here forever, so sure. I would like it if you gave me a ride back home,” I answered as Sky moved closer to Harley and put his hands on her shoulders.
“I told Harley this: if Molly wants to stay here with you, she is more than welcome, and I mean forever, not just temporarily,” he said.
“What?” Paul asked before I could respond.
“Molly is someone special to Harley, so I see no need to have her leave if she can have a place in my pack,” he answered.
“That won’t happen, Alpha, because Molly is my mate. If there is somewhere she has to stay, it’s my pack, right by my side,” Paul answered with emphasis.
“If she wants to stay, I will make sure she does, and you won’t do shit about it,” he warned.
“I can’t believe this, Alpha Sky. Are you seriously going to stand in my way of being with her?” he asked loudly as I quickly stood up from the bed and faced Sky.
“Everyone, please stop arguing as if I am not here. I can make my own decisions; don’t you know that?” I asked seriously as they both fell silent.
“I can’t stay here because I really have a life of my own back home, and I do have a job. I know you said I could stay here and that you would take care of me, Sky. But I don’t want to be taken care of or to stay here,” I said, then turned to face Paul.
“I don’t know you well enough to stay with you or be with you,” I said seriously.
“I told you that could be fixed because we can get to know each other over time,” he answered.
I didn’t want him to find out for some reason, but if it would make him give up on me, then I had to do it.
“I know that, but I can’t. You seem to be a kind man, Paul, and I won’t lie; I do feel very attracted to you, and a part of me wants to just accept whatever you are going to propose. But sadly, I can’t accept that,” I said honestly.
“And why is that?” he asked.
“That’s because I already have a fiance, and we will be getting married soon,” I answered, then flinched when his eyes changed to another color.
“What did you just say?” he asked in a voice that sounded different from his.
My heart was beating rapidly, and I felt scared of him.
“Gamma,” Sky called in warning.
He moved his hand to his face and took a deep breath. When he dropped his hand, his eyes were back to normal.
“I apologize; I think I need some time alone, so please excuse me,” he said and moved to walk away when I grabbed his hand.
“Paul,” I called in a whisper.
He looked at my hand and then roughly pulled his hand away and walked out of the room, banging the door behind him.
I stood there feeling like the worst asshole in all human history because I could tell that he was very upset because of me.
“Will he leave out of anger?” I asked while looking at the closed door.
I was scared of him a few seconds ago, but then that fear couldn’t compare to the fear I felt about never seeing him again.
“No, I doubt that,” Sky answered.
I moved and sat down on the bed with a heartache and a headache.
