Lillian’s POV
“Las and Light took the news rather hard yesterday, and Glen, that loser, was a damn pain. He couldn’t even let Dominic take over or stay for a few minutes. What a pathetic, lonely fool,” Jace said in a displeased tone.
“You know, maybe he acted like that because he doesn’t want anyone to see that he is hurting. After all, he lost his mate to his twin brother, whom he met for the very first time. I’m sure he is shocked and feeling sad knowing he had a family besides you and that he was kept in the dark,” I answered.
“Well, screw him. Dominic is the only one I consider family now. I mean, I too am still shocked that I have more family,” he said and then sighed heavily.
“What’s wrong?” I asked in concern.
“I worry about Paul, and I felt a little sad when he chose to stay back,” he answered seriously.
“I felt bad too,” I said softly.
He was lying down on the bed, resting his head on my lap while I attended to him.
“But I’m really happy for him,” he said.
I paused, cleaning his ears, and sighed heavily.
“He deserves to be happy after all he has gone through,” I answered.
He shifted and looked at me seriously.
“If I were in his situation, I would have laid down all my cards and chosen to stay with you too, because to me, you are worth everything,” he said, making my heart flutter.
I moved my free hand and brushed it through his hair gently.
“Were you always this romantic?” I asked teasingly.
“No, never. My romantic side always comes out when I’m with you,” he answered and then gave me a smile.
I smiled back, then leaned in and kissed his lips lightly.
“Well, I love it,” I whispered between the kisses.
I was about to pull back when his hand went around my neck, pulling me back; this time, his lips pressed firmly against mine. I kissed him back, enjoying the warmth and feeling of happiness.
His tongue pressed and collided against mine while his fingers traced my skin slowly, sending shivers down my spine.
I pulled back breathlessly and looked at his lips with a frown.
“Why are you looking at me like that, my Luna?” he asked huskily.
“I won’t fall for the kiss, my sweet Alpha. I want to clean your other ear, so turn,” I answered playfully.
“Why?!” he whined loudly while turning to face the other side.
“Remember what you told me when you were done talking to Las and Light?” I asked softly.
“Yes, I do. I said I wanted to spend time relaxing with you, but I didn’t know this is what you had in mind,” he answered lazily.
“Are you complaining right now, Alpha?” I asked playfully.
“Of course I am; my Luna has chosen this over kisses,” he answered.
“You said you wanted relaxation, and that’s exactly what we are doing,” I replied and then began cleaning his other ear.
“I adore and love you,” I said seriously.
“Lillian,” he called softly.
“Mm,” I hummed in response.
“I love you more than my life,” he answered, making me speechless.
“Hey, do you think our future will be perfect?” he asked in a low voice.
I stopped what I was doing and dropped the earbud.
“No, it won’t be perfect,” I answered honestly, then ruffled his hair.
“But we will be happy,” I said, and then leaned in and kissed his head.
“Because we will overcome any obstacle that comes our way together. We will have a wonderful family of our own, and everything will work out just right,” I answered sincerely.
He sat upright and grabbed my hands.
“You’re right, absolutely. This calls for celebration, don’t you think?” he asked, surprising me.
“Celebration?” I asked.
“Yes, we have to celebrate for a lot of reasons. For you being alive and turning out to be my mate. For us being mated and in love. For the amazing family that we are going to have and the good friends that constantly stay by our side and love us. For our amazing pack and good health,” he answered.
“I like that, so when does that party start?” I asked cheerfully.
“Right now, we are already dressed nicely,” he answered.
“Well, I dressed up for you,” I said with a smile.
He stood up and extended his hand to me.
“As I did for you,” he answered when I took his hand and stood up.
“Harvey, Lillian, and I have decided to throw a party tonight,” he said through the pack’s mind-link.
“Wow, when does the preparation start?” Edith asked, surprising us both.
Before going to Sky’s pack, she wasn’t marked yet, but now that she could hear and respond through the pack’s mind-link, it meant she was finally marked.
“It’s good hearing your voice through the pack’s mind-link,” Lillian said, making her laugh.
“I know, right? If only I had made him mark me sooner,” she answered.
“Edith, focus. The preparations start now. Light will gather everyone, and Harvey will be in charge of drinks and liquor,” he answered as I heard cheers from the pack’s mind-link.
“Alpha, leave everything to me and my mate. I promise that you will find everything done and perfect within the next few hours,” Edith answered.
“You, my friend, are overconfident,” I teased her while I walked to the wardrobe to grab a scarf.
“Of course I am because my magic is brilliant,” she answered proudly.
“Well, I look forward to seeing what you will do,” I said.
“Great,” she answered.
“I really want us to help out,” I said softly.
“Then let’s do that,” Jace answered.
“Really?” I asked once I had fixed the scarf around my neck and put on my shoes.
“Yes, let’s go now if you want because I’m also done putting on my shoes,” he answered.
I moved closer and fixed his collar with a wide smile.
“What?” he asked softly.
“It’s just that this will be the first party we attend together side by side. Moreover, I really like that you are wearing a red shirt,” I answered honestly.
“Then let’s make the memory of today’s party last. Let’s wear matching outfits and enjoy each other’s company,” he said seriously.
“Okay,” I answered.
“Tonight, when I stand in front of everyone, I will scream out your name and make sure they know how much I love and adore you because you are my world,” he said softly.
In his words, I could hear sincerity and feel his love and care.
“You are my world too,” I answered, meaning each and every word.
When he leaned in, I closed my eyes, enjoying the kiss that felt like an assurance of our commitment.
Everything was a lesson in our life, and our love’s journey was just the beginning.
Despite all the trials we went through, one thing was certain: we were going to forever love each other, no matter what the circumstances or situations we faced.
