Jace’s POV
I looked at Glen in disbelief as he approached us.
I had heard and believed Paul’s words. What I didn’t really expect was to see him worse than what he had said.
“Brother,” Glen called, and then grabbed my hand, making me uncomfortable.
Harvey was about to move when I raised my free hand to stop him.
“What is it, Glen?” I asked seriously.
“I really do need your help, please. When you do me this favor, I will forever be in your debt. If you want, you can have half of my company shares. No, you can pick out any new clinic equipment you want, and I’ll personally deliver it to you. Just name your price, and I promise to fulfill it,” he said in a cracked voice.
“All this for a woman you treated like trash?” I asked, and then flinched when a punch landed on my face.
Before Ridge could take over, a punch landed on Glen’s face, sending him flying to his men.
Harvey stood in front of me in a protective stance, breathing heavily. Glen’s men were about to move when Glen shook his head.
“It’s alright, I’m okay,” he announced loudly as he stood up and looked at Harvey with a murderous gaze.
When his eyes switched to Dominic’s, I quickly moved in front of Harvey, knowing very well that if Dominic were to attack Harvey, he would have the upper hand. Not only was he frustrated about having his mate leave him, but he would also take out his anger over Glen’s choice on him.
“What a refreshing punch,” he said, then looked at me.
“So, will you help my human or not?” he asked seriously.
“Tell him he has five seconds to get the fuck away from our pack,” Ridge warned.
Lillian moved, surprising me, and stood in front of Dominic.
“I understand how frustrated you are to be apart from your mate,” she said softly, then moved her hand to his shoulder.
“But you have no right to hit my mate,” she said as Dominic slowly began to go down to his knees with a painful low growl.
“That’s our Luna,” Ridge purred happily.
“If it’s help you want, you kneel and humble yourself to those who may hear your bark,” she said in a warning tone when he fell to his knees.
“Lillian,” I called softly.
She turned, looked at me, then smiled. She was still in control, although for a second she sounded as if Maila was the one taking over.
“I won’t kill him, but I won’t sit still and watch him insult or hurt you in any way,” she answered.
“Let her kill him,” Ridge said proudly.
“No, if we do that, our Aunt will curse us to death,” I answered honestly.
Dominic leaned forward and rested his head on the ground, shocking everyone who was watching.
“Just help me find her, please! I have connections everywhere and power, yet no one could locate her or tell me where she is. I don’t know what to do or who to turn to besides you. The witches I met and paid all said she had disappeared from this earth, but my heart doesn’t want to believe them. I am so scared and very worried about her. If she’s dead, then… then I’ll die with her,” he said huskily.
I sighed softly and then turned to look at Harvey.
“He is and was an asshole to you, but right now I sympathize with him because we were once in his shoes. I think you should help him just this once,” he mind-linked.
“Lillian, what do you think?” I asked seriously.
“I hate him, and Maila wants to kill him, but he really is suffering, so it’s a little sad,” she answered.
I turned back and looked at him seriously. He was trembling, and we all could tell that he was sobbing silently.
“Glen,” I called softly, knowing he was the one in control.
He raised his head and looked at me as tears continued to roll down his cheeks.
“I will help you,” I answered.
He smiled and then slowly stood up.
“Thank you, brother, thank you,” he whispered.
“Edith, can you locate her?” I asked without looking at her.
“Of course I can. It doesn’t matter whether she’s dead or alive; I will find her,” she answered.
“Please do,” Glen said.
She took a few steps away from us and closed her eyes, taking a deep breath.
We all watched attentively in silence and amazement as a beautiful breeze with dry leaves swirled around her in a circle. It was like watching a scene from a fantasy movie.
When she opened her eyes, the breeze died down, and the leaves fell to the ground.
“Did you find her?” Glen asked before I could.
“I did,” she answered as he sighed in relief.
“And?” he asked.
“She’s alive,” she replied.
“Thank you so much,” he said happily.
Seeing a slight frown on her forehead made me realize that something wasn’t right.
“Edith, what’s wrong?” I asked with concern.
“I don’t know how it’s possible, but she’s in another pack with someone who looks exactly like you, Alpha Glen,” she answered.
We were all shocked by her words.
“Hey, that’s impossible,” Paul said in a low tone.
“I have never been wrong before, Paul. I can see past any illusion, no matter how powerful the creator of it is. That’s why I am so certain about my ability. Glen’s mate is in another country and territory run by a very strong Alpha who looks exactly like him,” she answered.
When he laughed crazily, we all looked at him.
“I see what you are trying to do, Jace, and it’s so stupid. Did you put her up to this to make me back down? Wow, how did you get the most powerful witch to join your circus freak show? I get it; in the past, I made you feel less privileged and took your spotlight, but doing this as payback is so stupid and…..”
He cut his sentence short, and Dominic took over.
“I apologize for his foolishness, so please do forgive him,” he said.
“At least one of them has sense,” Ridge whispered.
“Just keep him in check,” I answered, annoyed at Glen’s little runt.
“Absolutely,” he said, and then looked at Edith.
“Please tell me exactly where she is. I will follow her and make sure she returns with me to our home,” he said.
Edith moved and stood in front of him. When she raised her hands, he looked uncomfortable, but he stayed still.
She placed them on each side of his face.
“The location and route will be imprinted into your mind,” she whispered.
After a few minutes, she dropped her hands.
“I am not sure if she will come back with you because what I saw when she looked at that man was affection. It was the look of a woman in love,” she said.
“If that’s the case, then I will have to persuade her,” he answered and then looked at one of his men.
“Call the office and tell Sophie to come with Molly here this instant,” he ordered and then looked at me.
“Before I start off, can you please allow me to freshen up?” he asked.
I looked at Lillian, who nodded.
“Sure,” I answered simply and then looked at Paul.
“Alpha Dominic, please come with me,” he said and then turned.
Dominic wasted no time in following him and leaving his men behind.
I didn’t know whether to warn him off for inviting his Beta to my pack or just let him be. Either way he was a pain in the neck.
