Jace’s POV
I looked at Harvey with a raised brow when he walked into the living room hand in hand with Edith. He had a huge smile on his face, and he couldn’t even spare us a glance.
He and Edith hadn’t been seen for six days straight, and I let them be because I had no idea what they were doing. Although what was odd to me was that she still didn’t have his mark.
“They look so happy,” Lillian mind-linked me.
“Yes, they do,” I answered and then grabbed her hand in mine.
She was sitting next to me on a couch with a smile on her face. She, too, was happy over the fact that Ridge had spent the whole day with Maila a few days ago and treated her right. I, too, felt happy knowing that their bond was more powerful than ever.
“Should I cook something for you?” Harvey asked when he sat down on the couch opposite us.
“I would love that,” Edith answered and then sat on his lap, wrapping her arms around his shoulders.
I cleared my throat loudly to get their attention.
They both looked at me and then smiled.
“It’s good to see you, Jace,” he said, then shifted his gaze to Lillian. “You too, Luna.”
“Likewise,” Lillian answered softly.
“Well, I guess we were invisible a few seconds ago, right, Edith?” I asked playfully.
“With those piercings? You stand out a lot to be invisible,” Harvey answered calmly.
I moved my hand to my piercings and then laughed softly.
“Just tell me the day you would want to get your ears or lip done,” I said teasingly.
“No, I’m okay, I’ll pass. If it were dimples, I would have quickly agreed,” he answered.
“Jace has dimples?” Edith asked in a surprised tone.
“Huh, you don’t know?” Lillian asked loudly.
“Like, seriously? He has?” Edith asked seriously.
“Is it because I don’t smile a lot that you didn’t notice them?” I asked.
“No way! Smile, Alpha; let me take a look at you,” she said.
I looked at Lillian for some reason and waited for her to say something.
“Jace, we are waiting,” Lillian mouthed the words silently.
“Fine,” I answered in a low tone and then smiled.
She gasped and then quickly faced Harvey, moving her hand to his chest.
“You smile too,” she demanded.
“Why?” he asked.
“Lillian can’t be the only one winning; I want to show her that my man is top tier,” she answered, making Lillian laugh.
“Edith, you are funny,” Lillian said between laughs.
“I am serious! Jace has tattoos, piercings, great hair, lovely eyes, and currently dimples!” she exclaimed.
“I have always had dimples, so the ‘currently’ part is unnecessary,” I mocked her.
“You know that it hurts hearing you say such words to another man, right?” Harvey asked her seriously.
“You praising another male, even when he is our Alpha, is annoying as hell,” he said.
She quickly hugged him, then pulled back and kissed his face a few times, making him sigh softly.
“You are more handsome than him, don’t you know that? You have your own charm, and your body is something I just want to ride and never stop,” she said as the whole room went quiet.
We were all shocked at her and how she could say such words without feeling embarrassed.
Harvey moved his hands to his face and then brushed them back through his hair with a smirk.
“You don’t want us to be out of bed for long, I see,” he teased, and that made her hug him even tighter as he hugged her back.
“This time I prefer not to walk. How about we do it outside the pack house?” she asked.
Lillian quickly moved and covered my ears, making me chuckle.
I was an adult and had been around such talk, so I didn’t mind at all. But then I was a little surprised at her words-not that much, because Edith, to me, came off as a woman who was straightforward with what she wanted. There were times she seemed indecisive or confused, but deep down, I believed she already knew what she wanted.
When Lillian dropped her hands and stood up, I quickly looked at the entrance.
Paul stood there looking very serious and angry.
I stood up, and Harvey quickly helped Edith to her feet before standing up himself.
“What is it?” I asked seriously.
“Our warriors were patrolling the pack border, and they noticed a few cars parked a few meters away. We thought they were intruders, but it turned out to be your cousin,” he answered.
“You mean…,” I trailed off.
“Yes, Glen and a few of his men,” he replied.
“That bastard,” I muttered to myself.
“Alpha, I don’t think he will leave. When I approached him to talk, he looked different,” he said.
“Different how?” Harvey asked seriously.
“Desperate, panicking, like he hasn’t slept for days. He looks rather pale, and he is still wearing the same suit he had on at the party. His hair is a mess, and his men look so terrified that they couldn’t say a word. He was mumbling his mate’s name over and over like a crazy maniac. The only one who could talk to me was his Beta. Although it was on the phone, she voiced her concerns. She couldn’t leave the company because she is the one handling everything in your cousin’s absence, and she is scared that she might lose her Alpha,” he answered.
“Lose her Alpha? What a joke. They have no pack to begin with,” I responded harshly.
“Jace,” Lillian called in a whisper, then shook her head when I looked at her.
“Fine, I’m assuming he has been close to our border for a day or so in hopes that I might notice. As much as I want him to go to hell, he is still my cousin. Paul, go and welcome him and his men to our pack. Tell Las to announce his visit to all the warriors and pack members too,” I ordered.
“Right away, Alpha,” he answered and then rushed out.
“Harvey and Edith, please be alert. He may be my cousin, but that doesn’t mean I fully trust him,” I said and then looked at Lillian.
“If he is acting crazy, then that means he is somewhat out of his mind and may attempt to attack anyone when he feels threatened. That’s why I want you to please let me act,” I said.
She grabbed my hand and linked it to hers.
“I am your Luna so I’ll always stand by your side and respect your decision. But if he does hurt you in any way, I will kill him,” she warned and for a second I saw Maila take over.
I smiled and then leaned in and kissed her cheek.
I was completely in love and captivated by her.
