Book:THE ALPHA'S REKINDLED BOND Published:2025-2-8

Glen’s POV
I couldn’t drop my business smile even when I was feeling agitated, uneasy, and very uncomfortable.
Dominic was also trying to reason with himself about whether to go and find that dumb cleaner or to continue with the fundraising party.
We had never felt like this before, and it was really taking all of us to just keep our masks on.
“You,” Alpha Ian called from behind me.
I quickly turned and looked at him.
“As I said, I will overlook everything that happened today. Our kind got along with most supernatural beings, but never with those that breathe fire or drink blood, so be careful of who you bring around us,” he said as I nodded.
“Of course, I’ll be very careful from now on,” I answered and then watched as he went to join his family.
It was no secret that vampires were our mortal enemies. That’s why our kind was very uncomfortable with them. Those who were usually invited to my parties were the most trusted ones, like Felix. She was a part of Ian’s family, and what made her stand out was the fact that she killed her own parents and tried to burn down the whole Coven to show rebellion.
She embraced our kind as her own and respected them. But that couldn’t be said for the Fire Serpent, Firebird, Chimera shifters, dragons, and phoenixes.
While fire serpents and Chimera were known for their amazing powers, they had an unpleasant temper. When angered, they didn’t think twice about burning something or someone down. They burned down many territories of different supernatural beings in the past, which is why no one wanted them close by.
As for the firebird, they were mostly feared because, as much as they brought blessings to one’s territory, they were capable of bringing curses too.
The Phoenix was an incarnation of the firebird, one blessed by their gods to be reborn with immortality and great power. Such a being was feared as a god because it could not die.
Although having one at my party or in any territory could bring many deals and open doors to wonder, no territory wanted to treat it as their god, for each supernatural being had a god or something they believed in. Its presence among us would make us so intimidated that we couldn’t even carry on our business without fear.
Dragons were divided into different tribes because of their varying capabilities and strengths. They were known as superior beings that avoided other kinds and chose to live in their own territory without involving themselves with others. The reason they were avoided was that they demanded respect from anyone they crossed paths with. And if one went against them, even as a joke, they took it seriously and reacted as they saw fit.
Because of that, most supernatural beings avoided those who breathed fire in order to keep their peace, lives, and comfort.
But something that weighed on my mind was what Ian had called my mate. I was so sure she was nothing but a mere human being, so how could he make such a mistake?
Was he that upset with her that he wanted to accuse her of being something she wasn’t, just to have everyone take a hit at her?
It was disrespectful, but I couldn’t do anything or speak against him.
“Cousin,” Jace called as he approached me.
“What does he want?” Dominic growled.
He was annoyed just by seeing him.
“Yes, cousin,” I answered with a wide smile, knowing very well that a few eyes were on us.
He stood in front of me and then leaned in.
“You used me pretty damn well, don’t you think? Even Alpha Ian was amazed by Edith, my pack member,” he whispered, making me glare.
Why the hell was he even whispering when he knew very well how capable everyone was of hearing? He was definitely doing it deliberately.
“What do you want?” I mouthed the words in silence.
“What you promised, doubled,” he answered and then smiled innocently.
I felt like grabbing him by the neck and pulling him to the balcony where I could push him.
He was so damn wealthy, and he could afford to get anything in this world, yet he loved to make others do the job for him! Why was he so damn selfish, and why did I even have to promise him?
“Of course, double you will get,” I answered with an aching heart.
I was so upset that I couldn’t keep still.
I walked away, quickly rushing out of the building before I could end up doing something that would tarnish my name.
“Wait up,” Jace called, angering me even more.
“What the hell do you want, bastard!” I screamed when I turned and looked at him.
“Call me that name again; I dare you,” he answered as he stood in front of me.
“Forget it,” I whispered, knowing how Dominic could lose to Ridge in just a few seconds.
“I didn’t come to offend you, but I came to ask why you did that to your mate. I know how important this party and fundraising are to you, but did you have to say such harsh words to her? You clearly called her a cleaner and mocked her. Why is that?” he asked as I felt powerless and speechless.
If he could tell who she was easily, then a few of the guests did too.
“Is it because she’s a dragon?” he asked as I widened my eyes in shock.
“Excuse me, what did you just say?” I asked back seriously.
“I asked why you were so harsh to her,” he answered.
“No, what was the last question you asked me?” I asked.
“I asked if you treated her harshly because of what she was-a dragon,” he answered as I weakly went down to my knees.
“What?” I asked in disbelief.
“Don’t tell me you couldn’t tell. Are you that weak? Because there is no way you couldn’t know unless you are a very weak Alpha. Ian could tell, and I’m assuming the others could too. She’s a dragon; what I am not certain about is what kind,” he answered.
“Huh?” I whispered.
“Anyway, I now get it. You had no idea what she was. So did you treat her that way because you thought she was just a mere human? Even if she was just a human, you didn’t have to treat your own mate like that,” he said seriously.
“You may end up going through the hell I did, so I’ll advise you to go find her and apologize. If she is a golden dragon, she will not only make your name greater, but she will also grant you the respect of a lot of territories, admiration, and wealth,” he said, and then turned and walked away, leaving me in even more shock.
