Paul’s POV
I dashed into the forest, tracking down Leah’s scent carefully.
My wolf was no longer talking to me because he was hurt more than I was. I broke down when Jace banished me because he was like a brother to me, and being separated from them felt like I had lost something very valuable. The only thing that I held on to and that gave me strength was knowing that I could finally be with the love of my life.
For her, I would do anything, and with her by my side, I could have it all.
After all, everything was planned out in my mind.
After finding Leah, I was going to go with her to human territory because it was the only safe territory unclaimed by our kind or an enemy. Then I was going to look for a job, which was easy to get because Jace had a very rich Alpha cousin who we visited a few times. That Alpha knew me well, as he did Talic and Light, so he definitely was going to help me. After getting a job, I was going to rent an apartment with her and work hard to get her everything she needed.
I was going to do everything in my power so that she had no regrets for choosing me. She would only eat the finest food and wear the best clothes and jewelry. Once I was very stable in human territory, stable enough to even afford a few cars, I was going to propose marriage to her and then mark her as my mate. We would then go on and have pups of our own.
I wanted male pups because of how strong they could be. But also females that looked like her would be adored.
With time, we would forget everything about the pack that chased us and live happily.
“I’m sure Jace wouldn’t know that I am planning to go to human territory to talk to his cousin, would he?” I asked my wolf, but I was met with silence.
If he knew, would he make a call and tell him not to help me? There was a possibility that could happen. His cousin was boastful and prideful not only because he was an Alpha but also because he achieved so much at a young age. I still never understood how he could live without a pack and enjoy a life with humans. But I guess I too was going to experience such a life because I was going there.
I slowed down my pace when I picked up Leah’s scent.
“Shit. Ah, I hate it!” She screamed loudly.
I found myself running towards her, thinking there was someone attacking her.
When I jumped in front of her, I got into a protective stance, growling while looking around to see the bastard that was attacking.
“P… Paul?” She stammered.
I quickly shifted to human form and embraced her with a sigh of relief.
“I’m glad you are not in danger. A second ago I thought you were being attacked by someone or something,” I said, then frowned deeply when she pushed me back with a cold expression on her face.
“Is the Alpha here! Who are you with? Did he send the warriors to capture me? Shit, it’s all my fault for stopping here and trying to hunt! I need to run away,”She said at the top of her voice and then tried to run when I grabbed her hand with a smile and pulled her into my embrace.
“What is wrong with you? I need to run away before they get me!” She exclaimed and then pulled back and looked at me with distrust in her eyes.
“Did you come here to drag me back there?” She asked loudly.
“No, of course not,” I answered as she looked around as if my words were lies.
“Paul, tell me the truth, please. Did you come with the warriors?” She asked seriously.
“No, I did not! I swear on the moon goddess. I came here alone,” I answered as she sighed in relief.
“Then why are you here? Did you want to tell me something? Is the Alpha plotting to capture me?” She asked.
“No, that’s not it too,” I answered, then smiled wider.
Even with dirt covering her face, she still looked gorgeous.
“Seriously, why are you here?” She asked.
I grabbed her hand and linked it with mine.
“I’m here to be with you,” I said as her face turned pale.
“I’m sorry, what?” She asked.
“I said I am here to be with you, the love of my life,” I answered and then got startled when she pulled her hand away, turned, and began to vomit.
I quickly went to her side to rub her back when she hit my hand with an angry expression on her face.
“I’m sorry, I just wanted to…,”
“Disgusting,” she whispered as I raised a brow.
Was she disgusted with her own vomit? I wondered.
“No, I think I’m hearing things,” she said then laughed softly.
“Can you please repeat what you said?” She asked as I nodded.
“I said I came here to be with you, the love of my life,” I said as she quickly moved her hand to her mouth.
“I think I’m going to throw up again. What did you just call me?” She asked.
“The love of my life?” I answered, in more of a question.
She quickly turned and threw up as I looked at her annoyed.
When she turned back, she pointed a finger at me.
“You think I am that to you?” She asked as I frowned deeply.
What exactly was she trying to say to me?
“Is something wrong?” I asked seriously.
“Yes, everything!” She screamed loudly.
“Go back to the pack, now!” She yelled.
“Leah, look, I know how worried you are about me, but I can’t. Because the Alpha banished me for helping you,” I said as she burst out in laughter.
“Worried about him he says, how delusional,” she mocked between laughter then stopped laughing.
“How do I say this, so your thick skull may get it?” She asked, shocking me.
“We do not need you. Much worse now that you aren’t of any use to us,” she said when her wolf pulled through and took partial control.
“What?” I asked in a low tone.
“You disgusted me when you called me that name and much worse when you held my hands. I couldn’t hold myself back from throwing up. Look Paul, you did everything I wanted and in return, I showered you with my body. If you were wise, you could have stayed back and looked for a she-wolf in your league, not be delusional thinking you can have me,” she said as I looked at her speechless.
“I mean, look at me! How could I ever be with the likes of you? Besides your rank, what else do you have? What can you offer? You are poor, and everything you have in that pack is Jace’s. You are ugly, and you have a horrible sense of style. The only redeeming grace is your dick size and your height. You talk like a bitch, and you acted like one whenever you were bullying the she-wolves of the pack. You are also naive and easy to use because you are a pushover. To me, you were a joke, and you still are a joke. That’s why I’m laughing,” she said as my knees gave out, and I fell to the ground.
“Please, stop with your jokes; they are hurting me,” I pleaded as I felt my heart ache.
“Gosh, you asshole, are you deaf? I don’t need you, do you not understand? You are a useless Gamma to me!” She screamed as tears rolled down my cheeks.
“Oh, and before I forget this, I do have a mate, and he is an Alpha. Unlike you, he is very handsome and rich. Also, he has a thing for me. He is someone I will enjoy fucking and toying with,” she said as I sobbed bitterly.
“Don’t worry, I won’t ruin him like I ruined you because he has a lot of value as an Alpha. Even in the years to come, he will still hold value unlike you,” she said and then shifted into her wolf form and dashed away, leaving me feeling like my heart was being pierced by a thousand knives.
