Jace’s POV
“Alpha, you called?” Talic asked seriously.
“Yes, allow Harvey to take over,” I ordered.
He frowned for a second while he looked at Light, Paul, and Edith who were already in the room, then closed his eyes. When he opened them, I smiled.
“Good, so Paul, Harvey, and Light, I have a favor to ask of you,” I said as they all looked at me seriously.
“I want you to make me the most irresistible Alpha who’s ever lived,” I said as they looked at me coldly.
I did expect them to act in some type of way, but what was with the cold aura around them?
“What the fuck?” Harvey whispered in disbelief.
“I’m sorry, Jace, but by chance did you just say we should make you the most irresistible Alpha in the world? Is that why you called us urgently?” Paul asked.
“Yes, because it is urgent!” I exclaimed.
“Fine, but does that explain why you asked my woman to join us? Not to mention in your bedroom!” Harvey exclaimed.
I looked at Edith and noticed how she was looking at him with flushed cheeks. When he looked at her, she quickly lowered her gaze to the floor with a smile and began moving her leg back and forth playfully, like a shy maiden in a movie.
We all were looking at her, and she seemed to notice when she looked up.
“What?” She asked.
“She’s so cute, don’t you all agree?” Harvey asked as we all burst out in laughter.
We all knew how he was waiting for a chance to show her off like some lovesick guy.
“Did I do something wrong?” she asked softly.
Harvey went to her side and pulled her into his embrace.
“You did nothing wrong, and you don’t need to be here. We will work this out by ourselves. So, go and check up on Luna Lillian. I know you are friends, so she must miss you,” he answered and then pulled back and looked at her.
“But….,”
“Go,” he ordered, seriously cutting her off as his pheromones changed for a second. We all knew that Talic was the one who had ordered her.
She smiled, then quickly nodded and left. It was very clear how she submitted more to Talic than Harvey.
“Now then, what did you really want to say, Alpha?” he asked when he looked at me.
“I wanted to say the exact thing you heard a few minutes ago,” I answered simply.
“Seriously? Like how the hell are we supposed to do that when you are already good-looking and handsome?” Light asked.
“I don’t know, that’s why I also invited Edith. She’s a woman and she would know exactly what most females like to see when they look at an attractive male,” I answered.
“How about doing the same things you used to do in the past? Most she-wolves drooled over you and they loved how you look,” Paul suggested.
“That’s the problem, I don’t want that. I want to look handsome, but not as I was in the past, I want a new look. I want my hair cut to short bangs and my golden earrings taken out, I’m putting black and silver ones. Also, I’m getting rid of my wardrobe and perfumes. I want to look good exclusively for my mate,” I answered honestly.
“So in short, you want to look different from the past you?” Light asked.
“Exactly, I want nothing to remind her of her horrible past that includes my looks. That’s why I’m asking you guys for help, not as my warriors and right hand, but as my friends,” I answered.
They looked at each other seriously and then back at me as my heart began to beat rapidly.
Were they going to reject my petition because I wasn’t ordering them around?
“You are lucky my sense of style is similar to yours. I’ll handle your wardrobe and get rid of everything in it,” Harvey said as I sighed heavily in relief.
“I’ll cut and style your hair, so there is no reason for you to go into town,” Light said as I smiled.
He really was good with his hands but he always kept it a secret from other members of the pack because he didn’t want any of them to look at him weirdly.
“I’ll organize your perfumes, shoes, and everything good I’ll set my eyes on,” Paul said.
I stood up from the bed, then moved to where they were and moved my hand in front of them, folding it into a fist.
“Damn it, Jace, we are already grown-ups and adults, why should we do this?” Harvey complained.
“Just bring it in,” I said cheerfully.
They all folded their hands into fists and bumped them against mine like we did in the past.
“Great, now let’s get to it,” I said when we dropped our hands.
“Okay,” Paul answered and then walked out with Light, leaving Harvey behind.
“How are you holding up?” he asked calmly.
“I’m doing better than before, and you?” I asked.
“What can I say? When we are around others, she doesn’t show much how she dislikes me, but as soon as we are alone, she always tries to keep her distance and rarely talks to me. But with Talic, everything is the total opposite. She likes being in his embrace and initially talks to him first. I hate to say this because Talic is a part of me, but I’m so envious of them. The way they laugh, spend time together, and just understand each other is amazing,” he answered and then sighed softly.
“I get how I messed up when I said harsh words to her, but is that enough reason to hate me this much?” He asked in a pained tone.
I sadly patted his shoulder lightly and then dropped my hand.
“That’s not it, my friend. She also heard how we used to mistreat Lillian. Any female in her right mind wouldn’t just accept us like that, even if we were kind. The past that we set is something we can never escape, but we can live with it and spend every day learning from it to better ourselves,” I answered.
“It still hurts,” he whispered in a husky voice.
I lightly hit his shoulder with my fist to cheer him up.
“It’s still better than rejection or her leaving you,” I pointed out.
He nodded and then rubbed his forehead with his hand.
“You are right,” he answered.
“So instead of dwelling on the past, negative thinking, and bad things happening around you, focus on the positive things and do better,” I said and then dropped my hand.
“Right,” he answered cheerfully.
“Now then, let’s focus on making me extremely handsome and sexy,” I said with a wide smile.
“Oh, damn it,” he muttered and then walked to my wardrobe and pulled it open.
“Your favorite color is black, right?” he asked.
“Yes, and dark gray,” I answered simply.
“I know, but her favorite color should be dark blue and dark red,” he said as I frowned.
“I don’t think so,” I answered.
“No, I don’t mean what her favorite color is. I mean what color she likes to see you in,” he said.
“Oh,” I answered.
“The colors I have mentioned are the ones she likes to see you in. I’m sure about this because whenever you wore blue or red, she couldn’t take her eyes off you. It kind of became very obvious at some point because most members noticed that as well. You were the only one whose attention was only on Leah to even notice,” he said and then quickly turned and faced me.
“Oops, I’m so sorry, Jace. I didn’t mean to …”
“I get it, I was messed up,” I said, harshly cutting him off, and then walked to the bathroom to look at myself in the mirror.
“Do we even deserve forgiveness?” I asked Ridge seriously after a few minutes had passed.
“Honestly, I don’t know because what you said is the truth. We were very messed up. Me for not stopping you whenever you were hurting her, and you for not realizing how terrible you were to her,” he answered as I angrily hit the mirror, breaking it.
“Jace!” Harvey called loudly.
“I’m okay,” I answered and then walked into the shower, ignoring the slight pain and the scent of blood that filled the room.
