I pulled away from him and jerked off the couch. Without turning to look at him or my stepdad, I want to open the door.
“Jenna, you came” my mother said gleefully.
I hugged her and she hugged me back, times like this seemed precious. I was her daughter and she was my mother, it was simple and perfect.
I pulled out of the hug.
“This dress looks expensive” she said scrunching her nose at me.
“Mum, you know how to ruin a good moment”
“Hope those aren’t real diamonds Jenna, remember to save”
“You’re financial advisor, not mine” I told her and I closed the door.
She chuckled.
“Christian, it’s nice to see you after a few days” my mum said giving him a hug.
“It’s nice to see you too, Elisa. Marcelino said you went to visit a friend?”
“I did, her daughter just got married ” my mother said throwing a sideward glance at me.
“Who knows when Jenna would finally decide to get a boyfriend”my mother said, she didn’t fail to show her disappointment in her eyes and her tone of voice.
Christian on the other hand was finding it funny, his eyes was shimmering with amusement.
“Is that right? Come to think of it, she’s never even mentioned trying to find a boyfriend… She’s not bad looking I mean, she’s not that ugly ” he said keeping his eyes on me.
My mum frowned very hard and turned to me, all eyes were on me and they were falling for Christian’s private joke.
“You’re right Christian, she doesn’t look bad. She’s a model for crying out loud, isn’t she supposed to have better luck because of her looks ”
“You guys are literally talking about me while I’m in the room ” I said folding my hand across my chest.
Christian’s smile grew wider, he had this I have an evil plan thing going on, oh no, what was he planning this time.
“Have you ever wondered if she’s gay?” He asked and my mum gasped, Marcellino inhaled sharply, my eyes flew wide in shock and Christian bursted out in laughter.
“Jenna… ” My mum said in a whisper. “Are you gay?”
“No mum I’m not”
“Jesus, she’s gay” my mum cried out.
“For fucks sake I’m not gay”
“Why haven’t you ever talked about a boy, I worry about it all the time and now I’ve only just realised”
“Mum, seriously I am not gay”
Christian was still laughing, he was enjoying this with his entire soul.
“Honey, our daughter is gay” my mum cried and went to Marcellino for a hug
“Okay I’ll prove to you that I’m not gay”
Christian’s laughed ceased immediately.
“How?” Marcellino asked rubbing my mum’s back and urging her to calm down.
“I’ll bring a boy home” I told her. Christian’s eyes narrowed and he stood straight. He was sending me a warning glare, so he now he wants to end it, after he has convinced my mum and stepdad to think I’m gay.
“How is that supposed to prove that you’re not gay, it doesn’t prove anything”
“What do you want me to do prove it then, you want me to fuck him on the dinner table then I will, Mrs. Rollins’s son is back from college you know and we’ve been friends from way back, how about I hump him for proof ”
My mum inhaled sharply, she looked mortified.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to be so graphic I was angry. Fuck” I combed my fingers through my hair and I started towards the kitchen hoping there would be some wine in there.
“What the hell Jenna” the voice followed me, it belonged not to Christian but his older brother.
“I said I’m sorry and I swear I meant it. I told her so many times that I wasn’t gay and she just kept on repeating it, she never listens to me. If she believed me then none of this would have happened”
“Fucking him on the table, jumping Mrs Rollins’s son?”
“Ugh, to be honest… Jay is back from college, I saw him while I was coming here. He’s a very attractive young man, and he has eyes for me, he always asks me on dates and I decline. If I agreed all those times then none of this would have happened. It just suddenly came to my mind”
“Jenna, why so you always make your mother cry” Marcellino said.
I paused, took a good look at him and I had too many things to tell him. The first one being the fact that he doesn’t understand anything about me, second one he’s not my dad and he should never judge the relationship me and my mum share and the third being that he never tries to understand me.
I turned around and left trough the back door, the shed was by right, the trees were in the front and u just didn’t know if I should leave everyone behind and drive somewhere far away.
Christian needed to stop making jokes that sets everyone on fire. I knew that soon, he would come barging through those door and I would give him a piece of my mind.
He doesn’t scare me, maybe a little but if he really wants my happiness then he has to learn to stop his priceless jokes.
“Jenna!” I heard someone shouting.
I frowned, wondering where the noise was coming from or if it was someone calling my name.
I turned to look, past the shed… The next building belonged to the Rollins and Jay was on the balcony.
He waved at me and beckoned for me to come closer. I smiled, remembering now that I missed this fella.
As I got closer I saw that he was smiling too
There was a very tall wall separating our houses, he was on the balcony of the first floor so I could see and hear him perfectly.
“Look at you” he said proudly, as if he was talking to his daughter on graduation day.
I gave a tree sixty twirl and finished with a bow, he bursted out in laughter and I couldn’t help but join in.
Jay was so charismatic and his laughs are always infectious.
“Hey you” I said.
“Hey you” he repeated softly, his eyes were aglow.
I chuckled and cocked my head to the side mimicking his position.
He groaned and three his head back, when he looked down a different expression was on his face, it was an I want you expression.
“Why are you always so beautiful?” He asked out of the blue.
“Oh, it’s good news to hear that someone thinks I’m beautiful. My family just called me ugly”
“Nooo” he said in disbelief.
I nodded my head.
“They’re tiny little liars”
“They even called me gay” I told him and he couldn’t hold back his laughter.
“I hope they wouldn’t mind my presence, it’s been long since I saw Elisa, wouldn’t hurt if I say hi”
“I’m sure they’ll think that I had invited you and I’m not sure it would go well”
“Why?” He asked, his dark eyes squinting, dark hair failing all over his forehead in beautiful perfect curls, this young man was en exotic drink to savour.
I shrugged.
“Jenna ” he teased and I laughed.
“When they called me gay, it happened that I said I could hump you on the dining table to prove that I’m not gay”
“Ohhhh” he said with raised brows, the amusement in his eyes made me blush.
I looked away.
“Well, my current mission tonight is to prove your sexuality to your family and maybe earn the both of us a good laugh”
“What?” I asked in shock.
“I’m coming over” he said, my eyes flew open with my mouth.
“Jay, what do you think you’re doing?” I asked him as I watched him climb the rails of his balcony.
His planning to jump into our compound.
