I went forward and sat in front of her, she looked plain in my eyes now. I used to see her as fairy princess, but that was just me glorifying her because I hadn’t seen too much of raw beauty, after my visit to Ryan’s resort, I know better.
“Look at you, I could barely recognise you” she said softly.
“I was walking by and I saw you enter.. I decided to finally have my closure”
Her breath hitched but she released it almost immediately and she smiled nervously.
“I had feelings for Sean”
“I figured” I said sarcastically.
There was silence, she purses her lips and thought about what to say next.
“Jenna, you have to understand something. When Sean came to set, that wasn’t the first time I saw him, I have known him because I followed him on Instagram, I thought I told you”
“You showed me and told me about a lot of boys on Instagram, how do you think I’ll remember one of them”
There was silence again.
“When he was touching you on the dance floor I felt pained, I joined in, hoping that he would finally take a liking to me but obviously he wanted you, I didn’t say anything till he wanted to have sex with you and you hesitated, that was the open window you left for me, and I took it”
“Of course, you did” I said under my breath, remember it all, jeez I even cried, this new Jenna knows better now.
“Then I came out and saw him all bloody, he had to have jaw replacement and they had to do surgery on his entire face, he had four cracked rib cages and both collarbones were damaged, he had to replace it thirteen teeth, but he is recovering now and…”
“I’m sorry ” I told her, I was not apologizing to her, I was saying it to Sean.
“Why did you ask your step uncle to bet him up” she asked accusingly. “Was it because you were angry and hurt that he didn’t have sex with you” I felt as dirty as an abandoned car, her accusation was too cheap, is that how she sees me?
“I didn’t ask my step uncle to hit him. I begged him to stop, he tracked my phone and found out where I was and he got angry that I was in a hotel, he bribed the receptionist and she pulled out my name and room number from the register and Sean had to open his big mouth and say he had his dick down my throat… Christian was already in the elevator ”
There was another round of silence. The door opened and closed but I didn’t turn around, my eyes were fixed on my clasped hands.
The waiter came with two cups of coffee, I thanked him and pulled out my handbag from behind me but Larissa paid first.
“When did he come out of coma”
Some days ago. Five days ago”
“Is he alright?”
“He was several scars from the surgery, they said it would disappear… He’s strongly recovering. He will be fine”
I felt bed for Sean all over again, then my mind fell to Kay, and Richard… What about them, did Christian really spare them as he said or did he kill them… Was that why my parents were calling for dinner to tell me that Richard have gone missing.
“Jenna, I know that you always said that you like dominant men, men that know how to defend their women and men that can properly take care of their family but you didn’t tell me that you loved violent men”
“I don’t like violent men” I told her. Disbelieve was written all over her face.
“Look at you, you’re looking different, the former Jenna was calm, shy, reserved, hardly ever confronted… I see that you’re wearing diamond gardenia earrings, real diamond earrings.. and your necklace is diamond too. I came to your house the other day and Elisa told me that you moved, weren’t you the one that said you’re saving that’s why you didn’t want to move yet. This Gucci gown is limited edition, I saw it on sale and I tried to get it but it cost thousands of dollars, money I can’t freely spend, money you couldn’t feel spend…”
I felt guilty, my tongue was clipped.
“I see, it’s not your money Jenna, it’s someone else’s, is your step uncle your sugar daddy?”
“Larissa stop”
“Jenna, that man is dangerous, are you daft”
“He’s… He is not dangerous Larissa, you don’t know him”
“How could you watch what he did to Sean and still have the guts to stand in front of him”
“I was scared too, shaken but he gave me no choice ”
She grabbed the table hard her knuckles turned white.
“Is he Blackmailing you, is he holding you hostage, talk to me we can report to the police ”
“He’s not and if he was the police won’t do anything, they’re practically scared of him”
She leaned in and relapse her hand, she started massaging her fingers and I thought of Christian massaging his lonely mother’s sore ankle.
He’s no dangerous.. but he pointed a gun at his own brother that day in the house, he owns an automatic gun, he throws punches that tears flesh and crack bones. He knows hit men that can kill.
“Jenna, I’m scared for you”
I looked up at her, this was Larisa, the girl I knew like the back of my palm, in her eyes was genuine fear.
“Why?”
“Can’t you see it or are you blinded by lust”
“It’s not lust Larissa”
Immediately the words left my mouth, a tormented look crossed her face.
“Don’t tell me you’ve fallen for him”
My breath was shaky, why did I feel this guilty. If Christian was not so dangerous, then why did I feel tons sitting on my shoulder.
“O have, Larissa. I’ve fallen in love with him”
She closed her eyes and groaned.
“He’s your uncle ”
“We’re not related by blood ”
“You’re disgusting ”
“Larissa..”
“You need to see a therapist Jenna, you need help”
She stood up quickly and grabbed her purse, she ducked her head out and walked through the door.
I rested my back on the chair and looked up at the ceiling, am I really disgusting, is that what people would think, is that what Blue thinks.
I pulled out my phone and texted her.
‘Do you think I’m disgusting for dating my step uncle?’
I pushed the phone into my handbag and grabbed the coffee, the expensive dress I was wearing suddenly became foreign to me, I wanted to eat it off, I wanted to return the earrings and necklace back to Christian.
I grabbed the coffee hoping the hotness would burn my throat and the pain would distract me from the one in my chest.
I tipped it only to find that the coffee had gone cold.
I drank it though, all of it and I left.
When I reached outside, a tall man had exited the coffee shop too. He was wearing a charcoal black suit, he looked too expensive for a reason I didn’t know why.
I hailed down a cab and looked outside the window, he stopped a cab.
I felt a jolt of fear but I was still uncertain.
I gave the cab driver the address of my parents house, to my own horror, his cab followed behind me.
