Chapter 19 The Ridiculous Contract

Conrad raised an eyebrow. “Don’t recognize the words?”
Of course she recognized them-that’s why she was furious!
What was all that nonsense in this ridiculous contract? It claimed she had wasted three years of Conrad’s “careful guidance.”
Guidance for what? Teaching her how to have sex?!
“When did I ever sign this ridiculous contract?! You still owe me breakup money that you haven’t paid, and now I’m the one who owes you?!” Lillian thought the whole thing was beyond absurd.
She should’ve known better. When had Conrad, that ruthless bastard, ever let her have things her way? In the end, she just couldn’t beat this smug son of a bitch.
Conrad leaned back in his chair with a smirk. “It’s simple if you don’t want to carry a three-hundred-million-dollar debt.”
“Come back to me, and nothing changes. This contract will disappear, and I’ll take care of your grandma-best doctors, best medical team.”
Lillian shook with anger. “The condition being, I have to keep letting you screw me, right?”
Conrad smiled faintly, his deep voice dripping with devilish charm. “If that’s how you want to frame it, sure.”
He wasn’t keeping her around just for show. A woman in his life served one very clear purpose.
Lillian closed her eyes, trying to calm the storm in her chest. “Fine. You want me to stay with you, right?”
Conrad gave a slight nod. “Obviously.”
“Alright. If you want me back, here’s the deal. You call off your engagement with Daisy, and kick Evelyn out-her and every other girl you’ve got hanging around. I want to be the only woman in your life. Can you do that?”
Conrad lit a cigarette, his sharp, handsome features cloaked in an aloofness that Lillian couldn’t decipher.
“Impossible.”
Lillian had known he was an ass, but she never thought he could stoop this low.
Back then, when she was with him, at least he was unmarried and unattached, and she was the only woman in his life.
She’d even felt relieved sometimes-grateful, in a twisted way, that Conrad, despite being a jerk, wasn’t the type to mess around with other women.
She looked at that rigged contract and then, without another word, grabbed the cup of milk he hadn’t finished and dumped it right over his head.
Ford’s eyes widened, but before he could stop her, hot milk spilled over Conrad’s head, the white milk slowly dripped onto the ground along his handsome face.
“Lillian!” He couldn’t believe it-no one had ever dared do something like that to him in his life.
Realizing what she’d done, Lillian panicked and bolted, afraid Conrad would grab her and make her pay for it. His methods were way more ruthless than anything she could pull.
Ford hesitated, unsure if he should intervene, and at that moment, Lillian managed to run out of the villa barefoot, still in her custom house slippers.
With a loud bang, Conrad flipped the entire dining table over. Bowls, plates, and even a potted plant crashed to the floor in utter chaos.
The staff barely dared to breathe, while Ford rushed to clean up, wiping Conrad’s face as he gave orders. “Go, go catch Miss Lillian!”
If she escaped now, who was Conrad supposed to take his anger out on?
“No need! Let her get lost!” Conrad snapped before storming upstairs, slamming the door behind him.
Andrew looked at Ford. “So… grab her or not?”
Ford shook his head. “She’s got guts, that’s for sure. I’ve been with him since we were kids, and I’ve never seen him this mad.”
Ford had to agree. Conrad was naturally controlling, but he never showed his anger so openly. This was definitely a first.
“This is going to be trouble…” Ford sighed. Lillian better brace herself.
She rushed down from Hillside Villa, glancing over her shoulder in case Conrad’s people came after her. She nearly tripped when her slipper slipped on the road.
A car pulled up, and the window rolled down. “Lillian?!”
She looked up and saw Melissa like she was a light at the end of a tunnel and ran over.
Melissa glanced at her disheveled state. “What happened? Why are you back here?”
“Don’t ask-long story. I just royally pissed off Conrad, big time.” She sighed, explaining what had happened.
After a pause, Melissa said, “I really want to say, ‘Nice job,’ but yeah, you’re definitely in for some trouble now. Never mind, come stay with me.”
“But aren’t you living with George?”
“We’re divorcing, so it’s not an issue. I moved out. Got all my stuff in the back.”
Lillian glanced at the backseat, which was crammed with bags. “So you just had a blowup with George and then ran into me?”
“Yep. I’d been on a business trip, but I got back in the middle of the night to sort things out.”
Lillian rolled her eyes. “So here we are, two miserable friends just waiting to get ‘killed’.”
Melissa’s family wasn’t nearly as powerful as George’s family, and now that she’d fallen out with George, Lillian couldn’t help but think-since George was Conrad’s best friend, neither of them could be much good.
“How long were you married to George?” she asked.
“Loved him for 12 years, married him for two, and now I’m his ex-wife, kicked to the curb just like you, his ex-mistress. What a life, right?” Melissa laughed, half-joking as she drove.
Lillian glanced around. “This car’s not your style-looks too empty.”
“It’s George’s car. I’m divorced, so of course, I’m taking something with me!” Melissa replied, exasperated.
Lillian nodded. “Makes sense. Meanwhile, I owe Conrad three hundred million. Turns out it was me who had to pay to sleep with him, not the other way around!”
Melissa nearly burst out laughing. “So how’re you going to pay it back? Should we kidnap George for ransom?”
“I could work off three hundred thousand, but three hundred million? Yeah, no way. I’m only worried about my grandma.”
“What’s there to worry about? Could it get any worse?”
Lillian agreed; it had been a long time since she felt this liberated. At least she’d finally thrown that cup of milk at Conrad’s smug face.
Her phone buzzed. She looked-it was Ford calling.
“Hello?”
“Miss Lillian, where are you? The bodyguards can’t find you. I advise you to come back and apologize to Mr. Conrad. There’s still a chance to turn this around.”
“No need! You tell your boss that tonight, she’s taking his money and heading to a club to hire twenty guys to party with!” Melissa yelled into the phone before snatching it away, hanging up, and blocking the number.
Melissa floored the gas, and the whole way there, she was cursing out the two lousy men in their lives.
Lillian felt freer than she had in ages since her family had gone bankrupt.
Meanwhile, Conrad had just showered. He tossed his towel aside, sitting down as his black dog, Ada, stretched out and settled at his feet, licking its pink tongue in a lazy curl.
“Where is she?” he demanded coldly.
See? He’d just said not to look for her and let her go, and now here he was, asking about her again.
Ford cleared his throat awkwardly. “Miss Lillian… she got into Mr. George’s car.”
“She also said she’s using your money tonight to hire twenty men to have some fun.”
