Chapter 133 No One Can Replace Her

Book:My Unexpected Billionaire Husband Published:2025-2-8

Sarah was holding a glass of fresh orange juice, sipping it while scrolling through her phone when she suddenly saw a message from David, “Sarah, your father called the cops on me! They’re gonna arrest me!”
Sarah was taken aback. Mr. Brown had just transferred her eighty million, and now he was calling the police to report his own daughter for extortion.
Once the police found out Sarah was Holden’s wife, they naturally informed him first and explained the situation. Holden wouldn’t let them just arrest anyone from the Smith family, so this whole thing turned into a misunderstanding, and no one came to investigate her.
But poor David, who had actually gotten physical, ended up in deep trouble and was really taken in.
Sarah rushed to the police station to bail him out. After all, she was Mr. Brown’s biological daughter. She explained that her dad had mental health issues and liked to make false accusations, and since she had witnessed Mr. Brown starting the fight, David was just acting in self-defense.
As a victim’s family member, Sarah’s explanation cleared things up, and David was released.
David looked furious. “This is outrageous! He actually called the cops on me!”
When Mr. Brown heard that Sarah hadn’t been arrested, he got worried that this ungrateful daughter might take her anger out on him. So, he packed his bags and took off for a trip.
Sarah was equally upset. She drove David home, and as soon as they arrived at the Lewis family house, they found David’s mother waiting anxiously. Merry had gone over early to keep her company, and somehow Ronald had also found out about everything and was there too.
Seeing Sarah and David come back safe and sound, David’s mother sighed in relief. “It’s so late; you two sit down. I’ll make you something to eat.”
Ronald’s eyes were on Sarah.
Sarah completely ignored him and hugged David’s mother. “I’m sorry to worry you.”
“It’s fine as long as you’re okay. This brat has always been reckless and getting into trouble,” David’s mother said, giving David a look. “You keep Sarah and Merry company while I make some food. Ronald, you sit down too.”
David then noticed Ronald. “What are you doing here?”
They had gone to the same school, so their circles overlapped. If something happened to David, some mutual friends would inform Ronald about it.
Ronald didn’t actually care about David. They used to be good friends, but ever since Ronald started dating Elisa, their relationship had drifted apart. David always sided with Sarah, viewing Ronald as a fickle scumbag.
Normally, Ronald would be gloating over David’s troubles, but it had been ages since he’d seen Sarah. The girl who used to revolve around him was now unreachable, no matter how hard he tried to get in touch.
Ronald felt a pang of resentment. He didn’t believe that Sarah could be that heartless, nor did he believe she would choose Holden if he came back to her.
In a hoarse voice, Ronald said, “I have something to say to Sarah.”
David wasn’t having it. “Ronald, don’t be disgusting. Go to find your Elisa; Sarah doesn’t want to talk to you.”
Merry had never liked Ronald, but since David’s mother was nice and hadn’t kicked him out, she hadn’t said anything.
Now, seeing David speak up, Merry felt bold enough to jump in. “What’s there to say? You said before that Sarah wasn’t as kind as Elisa, that she cared more about her studies than you, and that she was vain and materialistic. What? Now you want to take those words back?”
Ronald looked a bit dazed. Had he really said such hurtful things to Sarah before?
It seemed like he had. But his memories were all fuzzy now.
After Sarah got together with Holden, the deepest memories for Ronald were of her sneaking glances at him while they were in school. Even though she tried to hide her feelings behind her proud facade, her affection would still shine through her eyes and expressions.
After she returned to the country, she explained time and time again that it wasn’t that she didn’t want to stay, but she didn’t want to disappoint the family who raised her.
Back in school, the girl he admired from afar would get jealous of him spending time with other girls, going so far as to set traps for Elisa just to win his attention.
But somewhere along the way, Sarah no longer wanted to be hurt by him. She didn’t want to hear his accusations, and she gradually distanced herself from his world. She wouldn’t feel jealousy or care about him anymore.
Ronald always believed that Elisa was a good enough substitute, someone who could eventually replace Sarah and even become better than her. But later, he realized that no one could ever take Sarah’s place.
Just then, Sarah’s phone buzzed with a message.
Holden’s car was waiting for her outside.
She didn’t want to waste time talking to Ronald, so she turned to David and Merry, saying, “I have some things to take care of. I’ll head back first.”
As Sarah stepped outside, the sky was already darkening, and a cool night breeze made her pull her white coat tighter around her.
Not far away, a blue McLaren was parked, with Holden standing beside it, smoking a cigarette.
When Sarah approached, he casually flicked his cigarette away. “Get in the car.”
Suddenly, Holden’s expression turned cold, his eyes icy.
Ronald walked up, saying, “Sarah, are you really leaving with him?”
Holden sneered, “If she’s not coming with me, you think she’d want to be with a worthless loser like you?”
“I’m a loser? Then what are you?” Ronald couldn’t hide his jealousy. “You’re just a lunatic.”
Sarah stepped in front of Holden. “Ronald, what nonsense are you talking about?”
“Talking nonsense?” Ronald exclaimed, looking at Sarah with frustration. “You’re defending him and calling me crazy? His father is a madman who locked up his mother and took her to die with him. No one has ever loved him; he’s more twisted than his dad. Sarah, if you’re with him, you’re going to get hurt!”
As soon as he finished, Sarah slapped Ronald across the face. “I don’t believe a word you say.”
“This is what Reuben told me! You don’t believe his uncle? Holden has no humanity; he just pretends to be a gentleman.”
Sarah’s slap was hard enough that Ronald wiped the blood from his lip. “I’ve changed my mind, Sarah. Are you going to stay with that lunatic, or are you coming with me?”
Holden didn’t wait for her answer. He grabbed Sarah by the wrist and pulled her into the car, starting the engine and driving away.
Since Sarah moved in, Butler Ted had noticed that Mr. Holden had been much more composed than before-at least for the past six months. Before, no one dared to get close when he was in a bad mood.
But today, seeing Holden bring Sarah back with that blank expression, Butler Ted couldn’t help but take a couple of steps back. “Mr. Holden, is she…?”
Some people looked like proper gentlemen from any angle, but only they knew how sick their minds were and what kind of monsters they truly were.
Holden understood that what Ronald said today wasn’t just nonsense. He knew that even if Sarah said she didn’t believe it, she believed every word.
But he would never let Sarah go. Absolutely not.
So, he injected her with a drug to make her temporarily pass out.
Holden carried Sarah down to the basement.
