Sarah was feeling a bit tipsy today. It was bad enough that a drink cost 1888, but it tasted terrible.
Merry, trying to impress a cute guy, had ordered over thirty drinks and even opened two bottles of expensive liquor.
Since Merry had to drive, she dropped Sarah off at her doorstep.
“I just saw a message in the group, Sarah. Did you run into Ronald and Peter today?” Merry asked, frowning with concern. “I know it’s tough to forget Ronald right away. You look strong, but deep down, your heart’s really been broken.”
Sarah thought: Honestly, Merry’s words made her feel even worse.
With a house, a car, diamonds, and cash, what was there about Ronald that was so attractive? If her heart was broken, it was definitely because of money, not Ronald.
She wanted to pat Merry on the shoulder and tell her not to be so dramatic, but her head was spinning.
At that moment, Butler Ted came over. “Lady.”
Merry asked Butler Ted to take Sarah home. “Sarah had too much to drink and isn’t feeling great. Please take good care of her.”
Butler Ted smiled politely. “We’ll take good care of the lady. Miss Merry, would you like to come in for some coffee?”
“No thanks, it’s late. I need to get home.” Merry was worried about Sarah and regretted going to that place with her. “Get some rest, Sarah.”
Feeling lost, Sarah walked inside.
Butler Ted asked with concern, “Lady, are you heartbroken over your crush again?”
Sarah thought: Great. To everyone, she was just the annoying villainess who clung to the male lead without hope.
“Come on, I’m technically your boss’s wife, Butler Ted. The way you’re talking makes it sound like I’m the one cheating on him.”
Butler Ted replied, “I apologize.”
“Fine. If your boss were here, he’d probably laugh at me too. He’s full of schemes.”
After all, Holden was a man focused solely on his career, without a thought for women. Even a delicate flower like Linda, with all her romantic tropes, couldn’t capture his heart.
Women only slowed down his empire’s expansion.
The more Sarah clung to the male lead, the more comfortable Holden probably felt about her.
Her head was spinning, and while Butler Ted went to get her some warm milk, she ended up dozing off on the couch.
Butler Ted was holding the warm milk, debating whether to toss it, when Holden came back inside.
Years of experience told Butler Ted that Holden was in a bad mood today.
He quickly offered the milk to Holden. “Young Master, would you like a glass of warm milk for a good night’s sleep?”
Holden chuckled lightly. “Am I a three-year-old?”
Butler Ted thought to himself, “Of course not. You’ve got a beautiful woman to lull you to sleep.”
Holden’s gaze landed on Sarah, who was still in her little black dress, curled up on the wide sofa, looking especially slender.
Sarah hadn’t really fallen asleep; their conversation had woken her. Rubbing her eyes, she sat up on the couch.
Butler Ted quickly handed her the milk. “Lady, you had too much to drink. You might feel a bit queasy in the morning. Here, drink some milk to help sober up.”
Sarah was a bit dizzy. “Oh, thanks.”
Having a butler and a housekeeper was really nice. If Holden ever kicked her out, she could just take the butler with her, right? And maybe the awesome cook who used to be a head chef at a Michelin restaurant. Wait, though-could she even afford that setup? Plus, she didn’t have a big enough house for a butler to manage.
Sarah took a sip of the warm milk, her long lashes casting a tiny shadow on her pale face.
Holden smiled. “You went out drinking?”
She nodded, gulping down the last of the milk, then sighed. “I’ve only got a few days left to relax before I have to jump back into filming. After that, I won’t get to eat Lucy’s cooking again.”
It was a shame to think about it.
“I ran into Ronald today,” he said.
“Uh-oh.”
Ronald showing up was nothing new for Sarah. After all, Holden admired Ronald’s work skills and had given him a few opportunities.
But Sarah was worried Ronald might trash talk her in front of Holden, painting her as some ruthless, conniving woman. She’d had some friction with Elisa before, and the original Sarah had indeed set traps for Elisa multiple times.
The villainous reputation was unfairly pinned on Sarah, and she had to admit that.
Seeing Sarah’s reaction to the mention of Ronald, Holden’s expression shifted slightly.
He smiled without any real warmth and said, “It’s interesting. He threw a party at the hotel, and the manager kicked him and a bunch of his friends out.”
“No way,” Sarah shot back without thinking.
Ronald had tons of friends-he was a rich guy, and it wasn’t unusual for the wealthy elite to party hard together.
In the original story, Ronald wasn’t the type to play it safe. He had hookups at parties, which led to all kinds of dramatic misunderstandings, especially with Elisa.
But getting kicked out by a hotel manager? That was impossible.
What big boss would allow himself to be humiliated like that after growing up? Typically, Ronald would be the one getting rid of his rivals.
Beyond his looks, his biggest asset was his money and power. If a storyline really went that far, no one would want to read it.
If Ronald had lost face in front of his friends, he’d probably drive a tank through that hotel in revenge.
Holden noticed Sarah’s skeptical look and teased her, pinching her cheek. “In your eyes, is he really that innocent?”
That pinch stung a bit, and Sarah quickly grabbed his wrist. “Innocent or not, his family’s pretty influential in City N. No way they’d get kicked out. If they did, just wait- that hotel would go under.”
Holden smirked coldly. “Is that right? He’s really something, huh?”
“Yeah, but not as impressive as you,” Sarah said genuinely. “You’re the biggest boss in this world, my sugar daddy.”
After Sarah complimented Holden, he didn’t seem particularly pleased. Instead, he ruffled her hair with one hand.
Sarah, now with her hair a mess, couldn’t help but plead, “Hey, don’t mess up my hair! It’s not something you can just touch!”
Holden simply walked off toward the stairs.
Sarah fixed her hair and, feeling exhausted from the day, quickly fell asleep as soon as she lay down on the bed.
