Chapter 64 Stop Clinging To Him

Book:My Unexpected Billionaire Husband Published:2025-2-8

Sarah still hadn’t started the on-set training, so she spent most of her free time these days studying the script.
Merry had found a job at her dad’s company, so the two of them hadn’t seen each other in a while. On Saturday, Merry invited Sarah out.
After getting a taste of the working world, Merry looked exhausted. She slumped over the table, sighing. “I wanted to be a Vice President, but my dad’s making me start from the bottom.”
“Listen to your dad, girl,” Sarah advised.
Merry reached out her hand. “Sarah, I know a fun place. Let’s go check it out.”
Half an hour later, Sarah found herself staring at a room full of pretty money boys Merry had ordered.
“…”
Sarah always knew places like this existed, but she didn’t want to be a regular.
The reason was simple.
She felt like she was worth more than these toy boys. Why should she spend money on them? Besides, none of them were as good-looking as Ronald.
But the drinks and desserts at the club were pretty good, so Sarah focused on eating and drank a couple of cocktails.
The drinks had some alcohol in them, so her face felt a little warm. She went to the bathroom and splashed her face with cold water.
When she came out, she heard voices around the corner.
“Ronald, you’ve made quite a bit lately, huh? You’re really something, succeeding in everything you do. Young and talented.”
Ronald’s tone was a bit arrogant. “Just lucky, that’s all.”
“Don’t chalk it up to luck. Why don’t we ever have that kind of luck?” Peter asked. “Has Sarah still not contacted you?”
Ronald felt a bit triggered at the mention of Sarah. He thought she was playing hard to get, that she was jealous of Elisa. But after all this time, Sarah still hadn’t called him. Not even a single text.
But facing Peter’s question, Ronald sounded annoyed. “Oh, she called me several times, but I didn’t answer.”
Peter laughed. “Sarah really does love you, huh?”
Peter and Ronald were close friends, the kind of friends who worry when their buddy is struggling but also get a bit jealous when he’s driving a luxury car.
Honestly, if a woman like Sarah chased after him-with her big breasts, long legs, and flawless beauty-Peter wouldn’t pick Elisa over her. Even if there were ten Elisas, he’d still go for the rich and beautiful Sarah.
But when it came to his buddy-
What guy wants his friend’s wife to be the rich and beautiful dream girl?
Plus, Elisa wasn’t just good to Ronald. She treated the rest of them really well too, unlike Sarah, who always seemed so untouchable, like a high-and-mighty princess.
From that perspective, they all preferred Elisa with Ronald.
“Hey, have you met Sarah’s husband? That guy named Holden? Isn’t your family trying to get investment for that project from him?” Peter asked, curious. “I heard Holden’s got connections everywhere. A big shot like that is practically untouchable. Sarah marrying him for money? Well, she hit the jackpot.”
“Yeah, I’ve met him.” Thinking about Holden, Ronald felt a mix of disgust and unease.
All his life, Ronald had been the golden boy.
He was handsome, came from a powerful family, and was successful in both love and career.
But in front of Holden, everything about him felt like a joke.
His presence, looks, family background, wealth-none of it compared.
When Holden was Ronald’s age, he had already taken control of the Smith family business, gathering a massive commercial empire under his command. Even the old-school bigwigs of the consortium listened to Holden’s orders.
Ronald, on the other hand, couldn’t even manage the crafty old board members at his company. He was still at the mercy of his parents, juggling a relationship with Elisa while going on blind dates with other rich girls.
And all of this was happening while Holden had lost both his parents and was dealing with a new step-grandmother and two ambitious younger uncles.
Ronald had the family’s resources and affection all to himself; his parents adored him.
Ronald scoffed, “He’s years older than us. Just an oily, bald old man in middle age, sporting a beer belly bigger than a pregnant woman’s. I wonder if he can last three seconds in sex.”
“Wow, Sarah really has a heavy taste,” Peter remarked, unable to contain himself. “No wonder that big shot never shows up on camera. No wonder Sarah married a rich guy but still keeps clinging to you.”
Sarah, who had been eavesdropping, thought, Seriously?
Who said women were the ones with jealousy issues? Men were even worse when faced with guys who outshined them; their jealousy was more vicious, and their rumors were way uglier.
With her arms crossed, Sarah casually walked out.
When Ronald saw her, his expression changed again.
Today, Sarah wasn’t dressed up; she wore a simple little black dress, and nothing else adorned her.
But her figure was stunning, her tiny waist barely a handful, with delicate curves that complemented her fair skin, almost glowing against the dark fabric. Her hair was slightly damp, and without makeup, her features looked even more beautiful. Her small face was particularly exquisite, like a white peony shimmering with dew under the moonlight.
Peter couldn’t help but steal a glance at Sarah’s figure, his eyes landing on her bare-heeled shoes, then sneaking a look at her slender, pale ankles and perfectly long legs.
Ugh, how could such a beautiful, pure girl end up with my blind buddy? If only she loved me instead!
If he were given even a hint of interest, he’d turn against Ronald in a heartbeat.
Despite that, Peter kept a straight face, showing a look of disdain. “Sarah, if you had any self-respect, you’d stop clinging to Ronald!”
Sarah smiled. “Oh really? Ronald, I’m the one calling you all the time? Clinging to you?”
Ronald felt a pang in his chest but didn’t say a word.
Sarah pulled out her phone and found Ronald’s number. “I’m blocking you now. You just blocked my number in front of me. I was blind before, but from now on, let’s keep our distance.”
She decided to steer clear of Ronald and Elisa’s lives. Whatever melodrama these two lovebirds cooked up, it had nothing to do with her. She hoped the world could be a bit more normal so her life could be less affected by their presence.
Ronald sneered. “Are you crazy? Why should I listen to you? You think I’ll just block him because you said so?”
After saying that, Ronald turned and walked away.
Peter stole a few more glances at Sarah’s legs before hurriedly following Ronald. “Hey, Ronald, wait up for me!”
