At that time, Holden was abroad and too busy to deal with things back home, so he told Butler Ted to handle it all.
Butler Ted called the head of the news platform and told them to delete the related posts. Knowing Butler Ted was working for Holden, the other side didn’t dare to ask any questions and wiped everything clean overnight.
Butler Ted definitely had good intentions. But he seemed to have forgotten that today’s netizens had a rebellious streak way stronger than his nephew who dyed his hair colorful and pierced his ears back in high school.
The faster the marketing accounts deleted posts, the more convinced everyone became that Sarah was involved in some scandal, and they all rushed to comment on the video app featuring Elisa’s show.
Now, Sarah wasn’t just labeled a “gold digger” or “rich kid,” but also a “rich kid” who could manipulate capital. No matter how long Butler Ted’s arms were, he couldn’t reach far enough to make the production team delete an episode.
When Sarah woke up that morning, her phone was buzzing nonstop.
Confused, she looked at her screen, one notification after another.
Oh, so she was being cyberbullied.
Calmly, she got up, washed her face, brushed her teeth, changed her clothes, and then headed downstairs for breakfast.
Butler Ted suddenly realized he had messed up. But with Mr. Holden abroad and pushing a hundred-billion-dollar project, he felt hesitant to disturb the busy CEO again after bothering him once yesterday.
Sarah sipped her milk and nibbled on a piece of bread.
Butler Ted quickly confessed everything that had happened the day before, laying out the whole story.
After he finished, he looked guilty and said, “Oh, I guess I should let Mr. Holden dock my pay for a month.”
To be fair, Butler Ted had only ever received big bonuses and had never been docked a salary before. It was only after Sarah showed up that he realized Mr. Holden understood that their workers cared most about money, even using salary deductions as a form of pressure.
Sarah casually split the roasted tomatoes apart. “Oh, it’s fine. I know you’re just looking out for me-”
Butler Ted was internally shedding tears of regret, knowing his lady was truly understanding.
“If Mr. Holden and I ever divorce, just set me up with a job that pays a million a year, okay?”
Butler Ted quickly wiped away his tears. “That won’t do. I have my professional ethics. But I know quite a few rich kids, all with at least a few billion in the bank. If you and Mr. Holden really split, I can introduce you to someone. Some of them are gay and want to enter a marriage of convenience to maintain appearances.”
Sarah raised an eyebrow. “Wait, what?”
Butler Ted explained, “They might not be as handsome or generous as Mr. Holden-after all, their assets are just a fraction of his-but I can assure you they won’t be total duds. And with a marriage of convenience, you could take their money and still have your own toy boys on the side.”
Suddenly, Sarah felt curious about Holden’s past.
In the book, he only had one marriage of convenience with the original Sarah and no other romantic interests. Not even with the charming heroine, Elisa.
“Mr. Holden wouldn’t-”
“Oh, that’s not the case. He hasn’t loved anyone.”
“Oh, okay. So in the world of big shots, they’re all icebergs until they meet ‘the one,’ huh? Butler Ted, you better help me find a new sugar daddy if Holden kicks me out.”
Butler Ted still felt a bit guilty. “Lady, aren’t you upset about being dragged through the mud like that?”
Butler Ted had lived a long life and didn’t like being insulted, especially by a young girl.
Sarah sprinkled black pepper on her food and dipped her bread in tomato sauce. “As women, we should have the courage to face gossip-”
But before she could finish, Butler Ted pulled out his phone. “Somebody said your nose is fake. No normal person can have such a narrow, straight nose. I’m curious too.”
“Bullshit!” Sarah fumed. “I was born this beautiful! The nurses paraded me around, and everyone said I was the daughter of the queen mother come down to Earth.”
Butler Ted just blinked.
Sarah pinched her own nose. “Can a fake nose be pinched like this?”
Butler Ted shook his head. “No, it can’t.”
Well, Sarah wasn’t completely calm either.
She transformed into a fiery dragon, stabbing her fork into the tomatoes on her plate.
Damn this world!
Damn the author!
She had switched bodies and wasn’t even doing anything bad, so why was she being forced into the role of the female lead’s antagonist?
At this rate, Sarah really wanted to take on Elisa like the original text described!
Having not indulged in the joys of being a malicious supporting character, she was now suffering the consequences instead.
“Let whoever wants to live their life just do so!”
After finishing her breakfast, Sarah glanced around the billion-dollar mansion and counted the money in her bank account, pulling back her original thoughts.
Well, for the sake of the money, it wasn’t impossible to keep going.
Butler Ted watched as Sarah shifted from a raging dragon back to a serene fairy, feeling a bit panicked. Was it possible that spending too much time with Mr. Holden had made her a little obsessed?
But then again, he hadn’t asked them to prepare any condoms, so it couldn’t be that serious…
This wasn’t contagious, after all.
As Sarah headed upstairs, her phone suddenly rang. It was a call from Crystal.
“OMG, what happened, Sarah? I woke up to find you trending for all the wrong reasons!”
Sarah sighed, feeling like she had a cavity from all the stress.
Crystal said, “I’ll post some good things about you on Twitter-”
“Don’t, Crystal. Please don’t do that.”
Sarah knew how the online crowd worked; they would bash for a bit and then move on. Even though Crystal was a top-tier star, a backlash could easily consume her.
Plus, Crystal had a reputation for being outspoken against everyone, including the media, and her past was filled with stories of her being a diva. It wouldn’t be good to dig that up now.
Sarah could handle the criticism herself; she just didn’t want to drag her friend down with her.
Crystal sighed. “That bitch is pretty bad. I wonder who’s backing her. I want to see how much noise she can make without any real work to her name. Didn’t you say that the last script was poorly written? My old friend is directing a new movie, and he can’t find anyone suitable for a pretty important role. You’ve seen his work, he is Director Colby for Mated To The Alphas.”
“Director Colby? Is he short on actors?”
Crystal sighed again. “It’s a lot of action, no stunt doubles, and training takes six months. They shoot in freezing temperatures for days wearing thin clothes, and a lot of young kids can’t handle it. Plus, many don’t meet the looks requirement. I have an injury, so I can’t do it. But you fit the role; I just don’t know if you can handle the tough conditions. If you want to audition, I’ll send you the contact info on Facebook.”
“Sure,” Sarah replied.
She didn’t mind a little hardship while filming. She had entered the industry to earn money for her family’s medical bills, but she grew to love it. She treated it as a career, putting her heart and soul into every role so that directors and audiences would remember her.
If she wanted to avoid hardship for more money, she could have just gone into idol drama
