CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED AND FIFTY- SEVEN
BURKE’S POV
I woke up in a really weird way, I couldn’t even remember how I slept off. I turned around and there was Hayley lying right beside me sleeping soundly on the same bed with me. I looked at the ground and my clothes lay scattered on the ground.
I was practically naked
“What?”, I screamed at the top of my voice which caused Hayley to wake up.
“Babe, what is it, it’s too early to be screaming or do you mean to tell me that you did not enjoy your night at all?”, she asked with her hands on my chest romancing and frolicking with it
“Get your hands off me, what the hell am I doing here, I mean how did I get here, what did you do to me Hayley”, I asked angrily.
“Me, ooh baby I did nothing to you, you came unto me remember, and you are the love of my life, the father of my unborn child if you come to me who am I to say no besides I have been wanting to you for the longest of time now”, she said with a smirk on her face.
” I came unto you”, I asked surprised.
“Please baby, believe me, you came unto me and I don’t want you to leave, last night was freaky, you were all over me, we went for three rounds and you were even asking for more, you know… .. “,
” Shut, shut, just shut the fuck up, Hayley I want to let you know that whatever happened between us last night was a mistake and none of my intentions, I’m sorry I came unto you, I’m sorry you read the wrong meaning to all this, I didn’t even know what happened, I don’t want for this to ever happen again and I do not want you speaking to anyone about it, especially to the triplets, I want you to leave them out of our mess”, I said firmly.
” Buh, But Burke…
” Is that clear?”, I asked but there was no response.
” Is that clear Hayley?”, I asked again.
“It’s fine, we are clear, I get you don’t want me to mention this but I’ll want us to do this again”, she chuckled.
“In your dreams”, I hissed.
” But Burke, don’t tell me you cannot remember what happened last night”, she asked curiously.
” Let’s not talk about this issue ever again and remember I do not want you mentioning it to anyone.
I got out of bed quickly and picked up my clothes and quickly wore them. I hurried out of the room and made sure no one saw me when I left.
Gosh, how did I get into this mess, what on earth did I eat or drink to lay with Hayley, that was the same thing that happened the first time, I couldn’t remember how we had sex and she got pregnant.
There is more to this, how do I not remember anything?
“Call Diago to my room, I need to speak with him urgently”, I said to the maid in the hallway.
” Okay my Lord”, she replied and moved hurriedly.
I went to my room and locked myself up. I felt so guilty for what I did, for betraying Catherine this way, I was lost in my thoughts when I heard a knock on the door.
“Who is it?”, I asked fear crept into my body. I thought it was Catherine. I sure didn’t know how to look her in the eye and explain what happened because I did not have any explanation to give.
“It is me, you sent for me my Lord”Diago’s voice came from outside the door.
I quickly opened it, “take a sit”, I said
“Hope there is no problem?”, he asked, he looked really worried.
“I woke up in Hayley’s bed, and I don’t remember what happened and claims we had sex but my memory is clouded. I can’t remember any single thing even though I try”, I replied.
“calm down, what can I do for you, do you want her out of the Mansion, I can order the guards to throw her out”, he said.
” No, no, no, no, that would be reckless I sure do not want that I need the help of somebody like a private investigator or something, someone reputable, someone that can get the job of monitoring Hayley done discreetly without any suspicion and give me information about her daily movement, I mean I think she is doing something on me and I can’t place my fingers on it”, I said.
” Okay, that’s not a problem my Lord, I know someone who knows someone who can get the job done, I’ll inform him once I step out of this room”, he said.
“Thank you, I’ve always known I could count on you, please Diago you know I don’t want this information getting out and I put my trust in you, any amount he charges I am ready to pay on the condition that he has tangible information”, I said.
“That’s not a problem, my mouth is forever shut, till my last breath, I do not mean to be overstepping though, but have you told Catherine?” He asked.
” No, I haven’t I haven’t seen her since, do you know where she might be, I need to talk to her”, I said.
” She is at the back of the house, swimming. She seems upset about something though but I do not mean to pry into affairs that are not mine so I didn’t bother to ask, I’ll leave you to do the job”, he said.
” Okay, thank you very much. I appreciate it,” I said.
Immediately Diago left the room I went down to look for Catherine. My heart skipped with every step I took. My heart felt heavy due to the guilt it carried. I had hurt the one I loved dearly and I do not know how to redeem myself
“Ca, Catherine”, I called immediately and I got to where she was swimming.
She turned around facing me, her face mody, her eyes were red, it looked like she had been crying for a while.
” Oooh Burke you are here, you ring it’s on the counter over there I am no longer interested in this marriage”, she said.
Her words pierced my heart into pieces.
