CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED AND TWENTY-SIX
BURKE’S POV
I looked at all the board members as they grumbled and spoke among themselves, angry at my decision to behead Diago on my wedding day.
“The decision is too rash, Alpha Burke, he needs a trial, although I hate what he is being accused of,” My advisor said, and I was certain he said that because I didn’t involve him in the decision to get rid of Diago.
“He is still the Alpha’s right hand and acting second in command; you need to hear his side of the story, Alpha Burke,” Another board member groaned at me. I had even forgotten his title and name, so I didn’t give him any response.
The boardroom was getting noisy as every second passed by, and I watched them talk Among each other till I couldn’t take the noise any longer.
“Silence,” I yelled, hitting the table hard, and immediately, everyone kept quiet.
It wasn’t their duty to keep the board members quiet; that was Diago’s duty till he poked the bear.
“I am not giving him a trial,” I yelled because my mind had already been made up, and I wasn’t planning on changing my mind because of what the board members thought; a monster like Burke doesn’t deserve a trial at all.
“He has a title, Alpha Burke, and I get it that he tried to rape your sister, but you have got the respect the pack’s rules,” the counselor chimed in, still trying to contest my decision.
“Firstly, I have stripped him of his title, he is a commoner, and secondly, it’s not because he tried to rape my sister. I am beheading him; it’s because he tried to rape someone,” I yelled at my counselor angrily.
“But the rules of the pack say he needs a fair hearing from both parties before you can make the judgment to behead him,” The pack’s judge said, but I didn’t give two shits about their thoughts.
“I am the Alpha of the pack; I said the goddamn rules and not you,” I thundered at him; as the hairs in my body began to stand, I could feel my wolf trying to come out, but I kept trying to keep him under control.
“Does that mean, no offender of the law gets a trial?” He asked, and I shook my head.
“The only person that doesn’t get a trial is Diago; I created the rule for only Diago,” I stated, and the pack’s judge looked very angry at my decision.
“Bullshit!” He yelled, and I looked at him angrily.
“Bullshit? Did you just call what your Alpha said, Bullshit?” I thundered, and he looked down before I could say any other thing; he sat back on his chair, still looking angry.
“But, Alpha…,”
“Enough with the questions, this meeting has come to an end,” I said, interrupting my uncle.
I stood up from my chair and bounced out of the board room, shutting the door loudly behind me.
I walked hurriedly to my room, and when I got there, I saw Diago’s sister, standing by the door, crying profusely.
“He didn’t do what he is accused of and you know it,” She said, still crying.
I don’t blame her for believing her brother didn’t do shit, but I still believe my sister, then go believe him.
“My brother was Loyal to you,” She yelled, still crying.
“He tried to rape my sister,” I said to her coolly; I didn’t want to yell at her for the mess her brother created.
“How would you think someone Loyal like Diago, would try to rape your sister?” She asked, and I scoffed at her.
“Are you saying my sister’s lying and she made that up?” I asked and she shook her head.
“I am saying my brother is telling the damn truth, and he shouldn’t die for being loyal to you,” She replied to my question, confirming what I said was true; she thinks Ava made that up.
“Now listen to me, I love my sister the same way you love your brother, and I can vouch for my sister anywhere, she would never make such a thing up, she is a freaking saint, who Diago tried to have her with,” I snapped at her, and she rolled her reddened eyes at me.
“Do you know why Burke sent me to your bed, to lay there naked?” She asked, reminding me of the day that I saw her naked in my bed, and I drove her away.
“I don’t know the reason, and guess what, I don’t want to know the reason,” I said to her coldly, making her swallow hard.
“Your love for your sister has blinded you, and you can’t even see it when she is wrong,” she yelled, and I burst into a round of laughter.
“Look who’s talking?” I retorted and before she could speak, a guard from the dungeon approached us.
“Has Diago escaped?” I asked, knowing what he was about to say.
Daigo has been violent in the dungeon since, yelling that he wants to speak with me; even if I don’t want to speak with him, I have turned them down multiple times today, but they keep coming.
“No, Alpha Burke, he requested to see you, and it’s urgent,” the guard said, and I just rolled my eyes.
“Tell him to suck his shit up; I am not going to see him,” I said sternly before turning to Diago’s sister.
“Now get off my way and allow me to get some rest, I just finished a board meeting,” I said to her, not wanting to push her off the door so she could land her butt on the tiled floor.
“Just talk to him, at least because of the loyalty he gave to you while he served you,” She said before leaving.
“Did he say what he wants to see me for?”
I asked after Daigo’s sister had left.
“He says he wants to confess,” the Guard said, and I took my car keys immediately and drove to the dungeon.
Soon we were at the dungeon, and I was facing Diago, who looked like shit after spending just a day there.
“Confess, I’m listening,” I said, and tears filled his eyes again.
“I didn’t do shit, and your sister is the villain in everything she… ”
“I don’t want to hear the trashy story you have about my sister,” I said, cutting him shut.
“Listen to me, you asshole,” he groaned, and what they said was true, Diago was now aggressive.
“I’m listening,” I assured him.
“Ava and Harley framed me up before Ava fell in love with me and confided in me by telling me all the murders and evils she had done to become Alpha,” he explained and I scoffed at him.
“Did you make up that story in the dungeon?” I asked, still laughing at the absurdity of his statement.
“You can laugh all you like, but you know I’m damn right about your sister, she is going to kill you, and you will regret what you did to me,” He said, and I began to doubt my sister, even if I tried not to.
“My last wish is for you to make my sister your right-hand man,” he said and scoffed at him.
“I’m making my sister, my right-hand man and acting second in command,” I dropped the bombshell at him, and he looked betrayed.
