CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED AND TWENTY-THREE
CATHERINE’S POV.
El and I were living in an old blinding on the outskirts of the coven, very far from the pack, which I didn’t like, but El and Nikky believed we didn’t have an option.
I opened my eyes to a dusty roof filled with cobwebs, it almost made me throw up.
“The only reason you are going to throw up is because there is a baby inside your stomach, and right now, there is no baby, so swallow that shit up,” El said harshly, as she stared down at me on the bed.
“This is a disgusting sight to wake up to every damn morning, and the fact that the cobwebs won’t go off it’s very frustrating; I mean, what kind of spell did your fucking elders do to this place,” I hissed at her as I got out of the bed.
“This was our best option, and do you know why?” She asked, and I knew she would give me a sarcastic answer, but I asked anyway.
“Why is that?” I asked, taking a towel and placing it around my neck.
“It’s because you didn’t have a God damn plan,” She groaned at me, making me roll my eyes at her in response.
“I had a plan, but you and Nikky kept saying it was not good enough, and that’s why we ended up in this dump,” I corrected, stripping off my clothes and tying a towel around my breast.
“Your plan was for us to go back to Chicago’, Catherine, that’s the dumbest plan you would have ever come up with, try thinking straight,” El scoffed, as she took a seat on an old chair, and started peeling some oranges, the only thing I had eaten since I got here are fruits and it’s getting fucking exhausting.
“Yes, it’s a good damn plan because I have a lot of assets in Chicago, and don’t forget I have a hospital, too,” I reminded her, stepping into the bathroom.
“No, Catherine, you gave your hospital to your second in command,” She said, mocking me.
“No, I didn’t hand it over to him forever; he is temporarily the managing doctor till I get back Chicago,” I retorted, feeling affected by El’s accusations, even if I knew my second in command wouldn’t sabotage me or throw me out to get my company.
“Keep telling yourself that, don’t forget we are talking about humans; I thought you have gotten some experience,” She stated, trying to get on my nerves, and she was doing a fucking good job at it, as I couldn’t get into the bathroom again.
“If you are trying to tell me something, then do it,” I said angrily, and El just laughed at me.
“I’m just saying you dated a human for five years, and he ended up breaking your fucking heart; why trust another human,” She said plainly, giving me a second thought about my hospital.
Even if I was planning on getting married to Burke, we agreed that I would be able to go to Chicago once in a while to watch over my hospital.
The thought that my second in command might betray me, kept ringing in my head, even if I felt like getting it off my head.
“I… I… ,”
“You didn’t need to explain a damn thing, Catherine; I was just trying to provoke you for condemning a house in the coven; if you trust your second in command, that it’s the best idea,” She said, and I rolled my eyes at her.
“Don’t ever use that to provoke me again,” I warned, before entering into the bathroom.
I entered the bathroom, trying to wipe the disgust off my face because the bathroom had magical unremovable cobwebs, even the damn shower.
I took a quick bath and stepped out of the bathroom, although I was still feeling very dirty, I had no choice, and that was how I would be living till I got a way to expose Ava, probably through Diago, I am more excited that Burke has opened his eyes to see his sister’s evil deeds because he was once blined by the love of his sister.
“That was a quick bath, did you even wash your back?” El asked, mocking me again; she knew I hated it here and always used it against me every day, making my stay here uncomfortable.
“I didn’t wash my back because hour shower is covered with cobwebs, and El leave me the fuck alone; I’m trying to get dressed,” I retorted, and El burst into a round of laughter.
“You are insane,” I said in a whisper, and El didn’t even give me the benefit of the doubt; she is insane.
I brought out my box of clothes; the house didn’t have a wardrobe so all my clothes were in the luggage.
“What do you prefer I wear El the red… ”
“We are in trouble, Mum,” Nikky said, bouncing into the room unannounced and interrupting me.
“We were in the middle of a conversation, Nikky; you would have at least allowed me to finish my statement,” I scolded because El and Nikky were fond of cutting me short.
“We weren’t in the middle of a conversation, Catherine. Tell us what the problem is, Nikky,” El said, turning to Nikky, after throwing me under the bus.
“We were,” I said, sternly.
“Now is not the time,” They yelled, simultaneously, like they had the plan to shut me up.
“Fucking hell, you guys need to stop doing that,” I lamented, seating on the bed.
“Now tell us the problem, Nikky,” El said, Ignoring me.
“Ava and Harley are still after El because they found out that Diago wasn’t on their side, and Ava accused him of rape,” Nikky said, and my mouth dropped open.
“If Burke sent Daigo, he would fight for him,” El suggested and I nodded my head in approval.
“That’s the problem; he said he wants to show Dad that Ava is evil; Dad didn’t believe him and asked him for proof,” Nikky explained, and I knew we were in big damn trouble.
“When is his trial?” I asked, and Nikky scoffed.
“You know how Daddy loves his sister? He said there is no trial, and Diago would be beheaded in the next two moons on his wedding day with Harley,” Nikky said, dropping the bombshell; Burke is a fucking coward.
“We can’t allow him to die? He tried to save us,” El said, sympathizing with Diago, and she was right regardless; he saved our sorry ass.
“I know that El, the wedding is in the next two moons. We have to start getting prepared for your arrival to the pack, as the Luna,” Nikky said, pointing at me, and my mouth dropped.
I was once ready to fight Harley and Ava when I finally got back my memory, but now I’m not ready.
