CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED AND ELEVEN
CATHERINE’S POV
“It’s a bad idea, Mum; I can’t do it,” Nikky kicked against the idea as she walked away from me.
When we got back to the house, I collapsed on the bed, exhausted.
“Was that tour necessary?” I asked, panting heavily.
It was exhausting; we had to go around the coven’s forest more than twenty times just because of the fear we had of Ava.
“Yes it was, if not Ava would have succeeded in having your head on a golden platter,” Nikky said, gulping down a bottle of water
“Yes, I know, she is a devil, just like Harley,” I lamented with my face buried in the pillow.
“So when are we packing?” I asked, because! Nikky has suggested that El should leave the coven; there was an abandoned house in the pack, and Ava and Harley would never make a quick guess that we would be staying there.
“Oh, we are packing now, dear,” El said, dragging the bedsheet I laid on.
“We can’t pack now; we need to rest,” I yelled with the last strength I had.
“You mean to rest in peace because any second we spend here, our lives are at stake,” El chuckled, arranging our clothes in luggage.
“So what? Are we going to keep running for the rest of our lives, because this shit is messed up,” I groaned, getting off the bed, helping El and Nikky to pack.
“The earlier you regain your memory, the better for us; we can’t take you to the pack as a blank slate; Harley and Ava would use you to their satisfaction,” El replied to my question as she removed the curtains that covered the window.
“I know I was about to rush you earlier at the forest, but there’s no pressure, don’t hurt yourself while trying to regain your memory, we want you to get your memory but we need you alive,” Nikky chimed in, as she made emphasis on the word ‘need’
“I can’t keep running, I may not recall my past but I know all I have ever done was to run, but I can’t anymore, let’s stay here and fight Ava,” I said, dropping to the ground, my ass hit the floor painfully, but I didn’t flinch, that was my major concern at the moment.
“And you think I want to run too?” Nikky asked, looking at me with anger, before I could speak, she continued her speech.
“Every day I want you, I want to snap their heads off their neck, expose them but I can’t because there’s a process, if we rush into it we would get results, but it would be a negative result,” She explained, looking at me in the eyes, I turned my gaze to the floor not wanting to stand her continuous stares.
“You are too smart for a little girl,” El, complimented.
“What do you expect, I have had to experience a lot of things as a child, so thinking like an adult was imposed on me since I entered crescent pack,” Nikky said, shoving the compliment under the carpet.
“Okay, let’s hurry then. You have to go back to the mansion before it runs too late, and your father will be looking for you,” I said, and Nikky nodded her head.
I wanted to ask who her father is, but haven’t gotten the right time to ask. Although this moment feels like the right time, I’m just too busy packing my stuff.
Soon we were done packing, and heading towards the pack.
“Why do we have to walk discretely? Ava’s men aren’t here,” I whispered, walking as discreetly as possible, although I still didn’t have a clue why they were walking like that.
“It’s not all about Ava’s men, El has a lot of enemies that would want her dead even if they weren’t given a Ransom or reward,” Nikky said, looking at El sternly, who had an apologetic look on her face.
“El doesn’t do anything bad; she is a good person,” I murmured.
“Yes she is a good person, but she was once a wicked person,” Nikky spat out.
“Watch it, Nikky, we can’t start exposing the skeleton in everyone’s cupboard,” El said, trying to tell Ava something with her eyes. I didn’t understand it but I knew Nikky understood.
“Luckily, I don’t have a skeleton in my cupboard, I’m still a child,” Nikky said, giggling.
“How I wish you were just a child,” El grumbled as we finally left the coven without being caught.
Soon, we were at the abandoned house on the outskirts of Crescent Pack.
I looked around and hated the view immediately. It made me nauseous.
“It stinks,” Nikky yelled, running out of the house to throw up.
El turned to look at me with amusement on her face.
“Do you want to throw up soon?” She asked, and I shook my head although I had the urge. To vomit.
“I’m going back to the mansion; I can’t risk my father looking for me,” Nikky said as her eyes roamed around the house.
The house had only one room, which looked messed up, the ground was filled with different kinds of dirt, and it would be difficult for El and me to clean everything up alone.
“You can’t leave us like this; we need to work together,” I yelled, and Nikky rolled her eyes.
“I can leave you, and I’m going to leave you now; bye,” Nikky said, leaving the room before El stopped her.
“Now we’re on our own; what the fuck do we even start with?” I said, frustrated about everything.
“We start by wearing gloves,” El replied to my question, as she threw me a green pair of handglove.
I slipped the gloves on and was about to work when I remembered the conversation Nikky and I had a while ago. She said I could regain my memory, and I was ready to take fifty percent chances of getting my memory.
“El, can you help me regain my memory?” I asked, and El cleared her throat before replying to me.
“It’s a fifty percent chance of dying and surviving, do you think you are enough?” She asked, wanting to end the discussion, but I wasn’t ready to end the discussion.
“Yes, I am ready,” I said, and she scoffed.
“I have lost most of my powers,” She complained.
“I’m not asking you to put in all your efforts, just try,” I pleaded.
“Nikky… ”
“Nikky doesn’t have to know,” I said, cutting her shut.
“Are you sure about this, you might lose your life,” El warned again, although she seemed ready to help.
“Yes I am, do it,” I ordered, and El gave me a slight nod.
