CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED AND SIX
AVA’S POV
“Fuck, is she alive?” I asked, as my guards who I had sent to find the woman Nikky was talking with the other day.
He found them unconscious on the outskirts of town close to the coven, meaning El did something fishy.
“I think so mam, but her guard…,”
“I don’t give two fucks about her guard, just get the job done,” I said sternly, and he continued trying to check her pulse.
“She will be alive if she wakes up in the next thirty seconds,” he said, standing at his feet.
I stared at her unconscious body for more than an hour but there was no response.
“You said in thirty seconds she would be conscious, what the fuck is happening? We don’t have that much time,” I yelled, trying to control the eagerness to punch him in his face, but I held my cool.
“Mam, I’m not a doctor and you don’t want me to call the doctor, so I had no choice but to make assumptions,” He retired, exhausted from my quarries.
“Don’t use that tone on me and if she doesn’t wake up, I’ll tell him that you killed her,” I threatened, smiling sheepishly.
“You can’t do that, man; I saved her from dying,” He whined, with fear in his voice.
“Give her medicines, herbs, any freaking thing but just ensure she survives, or else you will die too, don’t forget Harley is my brother’s wife to me,” I threatened further.
My guard’s countenance changed, and he regretted the fact that he tried to help me; he was speechless and just gave me a deadly glare.
“Edward… you,”
“Herold, my name is Herold and not Edward,” He corrected and I rolled my eyes at him.
“Yes, what I said, Edward, you don’t have to be sad, just do some medical stuff, and she will be on her feet,” I said, but I wasn’t trying to console him, and I wanted him to put his shit together and try to save Harley.
“But I’m not a fucking doctor,” He complained, checking for her pulse.
“You have to be a doctor today, and I won’t repeat myself,” I said strictly, and I could see the anger in his eyes.
“I didn’t know you cared for someone that much,” He said, trying to compliment me, thinking Harley was my weakness.
“Caring is a weakness, look at my brother he is weak because he cares, I don’t give a shit bait Harley, but she is a major part of my plan, so I need her, Edward,” I spat out, calling his by a wrong name to annoy him, and fortunately it did.
He was about to resituate her again, when Harley suddenly opened her eyes, breathing heavily.
“Fucking hell, you got me scared for a minute,” I yelled, rushing side to the edge of the bed.
“What happened, how did I end up here?” She asked, sitting up, she held her head tightly and I knew she had a margarine.
“Take this, it would reduce the head pain,” I said, giving her some tablets and a bottle of water.
“Thanks, Ava,” She appreciated after drinking the water.
“What happened, Ava?” She asked again, making me confused.
I was the person supposed to ask her what happened, why was it the other way around?
“Well, I was on… ”
“Shut the fuck up and get out; your business here is done,” I said sternly at my guard.
He sighed heavily before leaving my room. He banged the door behind me, and I knew that was a sign of anger, but I ignored him.
“What the fuck happened, you and your guard were found unconscious at the outskirts of the pack,” I questioned, and Harley looked at me blankly.
“Fuck Ava, the last thing I remember was leaving her to meet El at the coven,” She said, still rubbing her head.
“They wiped your memory; that means El is up to something,” I said, tapping my feet on the ground.
“And Nikky is working alongside her; I can feel it,” Harley chimed in, still looking blank.
I stood up from the bed and started walking around; I just wanted to know what Nikky and El were up to; how the fuck did they even meet?
El turned her back on us the day Catherine died, I tried to draw a line to the dot, but I couldn’t.
“I’m sure Nikky went to the coven and cried about her mother’s death, and El decided to help her and turned her back on us,” Harley said, but it didn’t make any sense.
“El isn’t that soft that she would want to help a crying child, even when she knows it might cost her life, there’s more to this Harley and we need to know before it gets out of hand, and we won’t be able to control the situation,” I said, and Harley nodded head-on response.
“What are we going to do, Ava? We can’t keep working on our own; we need more hands; Sereca and Jaxon are gone; what do we do?” Harley said, like she was just realizing it was only the two of us again.
“We don’t need more hands, we need more powers,” I corrected her, still walking around the room.
“You understand what I mean, we don’t have any powers, and if we need to take down your brother, we need those powers,” She said, and I could see fear in her eyes. She was scared we weren’t up to the task, but we were.
“I do, and I have a new member of the team who is ready to give us the power we need to dominate,” I said, still smiling. Harley looked at me, confused; although she knew I had a plan, I always have a plan.
“What plan have you got? Fill me in,” Harley said, folding her hands beneath her breast.
Before I could respond, we heard a knock on the door,”
“That’s the plan knocking; I’ll go get the door,” I said, walking towards the door.
I opened the door, and Diago stepped into my room with his hands inside his suit pocket.
“Hello Harley, we’ve got people to take down,” He said, smiling.
