CHAPTER EIGHTY-ONE
CATHERINE’S POV
Today’s my wedding day. It’s been three moons since I left Burke’s Mansion. We have still been in contact though, but today we are tying the knot.
I woke up to hear a loud knock on my door, making me wonder who would be knocking this early morning.
I yawned loudly, standing up from the bed, and walking towards the door.
“Who the fuck is it? I think it’s too early to drop mail,” I yelled, opening the door. I felt it was the mailman, dropping some mail for me.
But I was wrong because it was Burke.
“Are you fucking kidding me, Burke? It’s still early in the morning,” I said as he gave me the way to enter my living room.
“I was just feeling Nervous about today and decided to see you first,” He said, grabbing me by the waist and drawing me closer to himself so that my boobs could meet his hard chest.
“It’s bad luck for the groom to see the bride before the wedding, I hope you know that,” I playfully scolded him, giggling.
“Nothing will stop our wedding, so there’s no bad luck anywhere, Cathie,” He said and before I could say anything, he took my lips into his.
“I can’t believe we are about to do this; I fucking love you,” He said huskily, deepening the kiss and playing with my tongue.
“I love you too,” I whispered back to him, kissing him back and giving him access to every corner of my mouth.
Burke tasted like wine, making me guess he had drunk wine to cook his nerves before coming here.
Burke’s tongue trailed down to my collarbones, nibbling there, and his hands were exploring every corner of my body.
“Burke, today is our wedding; we can’t have sex today,” I said, trying to catch my breath, but Burke didn’t stop; rather, he pushed me against the wall and started kissing me again and grabbing my butt.
“Mam, the kids are looking for you,” Susan’s voice jolted us apart.
“Fuck Susan, tell them I’m coming,” I said, and Burke wore a frown because Susan had interrupted us; if she was a man, he would have punched her hard in the face.
“Today, you are going to have me forever; I won’t stay in a separate house again, so get your dick together and prepare for our wedding,” I scolded him, smiling seductively at him.
He took a deep breath, before speaking again.
“Fuck, can the wedding begin already?” He asked rhetorically, and I burst into a round of laughter.
“And I’m going to be hearing your laughter every damn day, I’m the luckiest man in all packs right now,” He said, almost yelling.
I rushed to cover his mouth because the kids might be asleep at that moment.
“Do you want to wake the kid?” I asked, chuckling.
“Daddy,” The kids yelled, as they ran towards Burke to hug him.
They had missed Burke because whenever he was at my house, they were learning, so they never got to see him.
“Daddy, can we go with you? I want to dress up for the wedding at your mansion,” Nikky said, holding Burke’s hand.
“Me too,” Nikky and Dicky joined the discussion.
“I don’t know, guys; I think it’s up to your mother,” He said, pointing in my direction.
My kids turned to look at me, giving me puppy eyes.
“Please, Mummy,” They said simultaneously.
I rolled my eyes and looked at Burke.
“Please, baby,” He mouthed to me, and I knew I had to let them follow their father.
“Okay, you can go with him, but you must promise to be good,” I warned, and they nodded at me before dragging Burke away, without even giving me a goodbye kiss or a hug.
“No hugs or kisses, Nikky, Ricky, and Dikky,” I yelled, but it seemed like they were already gone and couldn’t hear me.
“Alpha Burke did some charms on your kids,” Susan said, smiling as she lifted my wedding dress.
My mouth dropped open as I admired the wedding, which was made with an expensive fabric and designed with corals.
“Susan, this is beautiful, did the designer make this?” I asked, still admiring the dress Susan held up.
“No mam, I did,” She said, still smiling.
I didn’t know when I hugged her tightly, preventing her from breathing, she giggled as I freed her from the hug.
“It seems you like your dress,” She said, handing it over to me.
“I love it,” I exclaimed, placing the dress on my body.
“Well, we need to start preparing for your wedding; I’m sure you don’t want to be late,” She said, and I nodded in response.
I entered my room and stripped naked before going to the bathroom to have a cool shower.
I could not stop thinking of what my wedding day was going to be like, and how my life would be when I got married to Burke, I had forgotten all about Ava and her stupid quest for revenge, since my detective had been incompetent to bring a solid reason why she goes to meet Harley in the outskirts of the pack.
I still feel a family bond with Harley, but I kept that thought aside because Harley can never be my family, and when I became Luna, I’m going to kick Ava’s ass.
I was done bathing, and quickly left the bathroom, eager to wear my wedding dress.
After applying light makeup and packing my hair in a bridal style, I slipped on my wedding dress, which suited me, it attenuated my curves and made me look elegant.
“You look beautiful, mam,” Susan said as she stood by my door; I didn’t even know when she entered my room.
I turned to look at her with tears in my eyes.
“Thank you, Susan,” I whispered to her.
“The bride can’t cry, mam. I just finished bathing, and I need to quickly get dressed to be the best bridesmaid today,” She said, and I nodded, trying not to cry, or else it would ruin my makeup.
“Although, mam, I am smelling smoke, diesel, and dry leaf coming from outside,” She said, and I started smelling it too.
“Yeah, that’s true; quickly get dressed; let me go check it out,” I said to her, and she nodded in response.
Susan left the room to get dressed in her room and I went outside to check where the smell of the diesel was coming from.
My mouth fell open when I could not open the door, and the windows broke open with fire entering my living room.
“My house is on fire; help,” I yelled, still trying to open the door, but no response and the door was opening.
The smoke from the fire was making me weak and before I could yell again, my vision was enveloped with darkness.
