CHAPTER SEVENTY-SEVEN
CATHERINE’S POV
“Why the fuck did you tear my clothes, Ava?” I asked, trying to be cool, although I was already losing my temper.
She walked towards me and threw the shreds she had on her hand, to my face, smiling mischievously.
“Because the bride isn’t supposed to be you,” She said, and she stood in front of me folding her hands.
I felt like ripping her hair off her head and punching a tooth from her mouth, but I didn’t, and that was because of how much Burke loved his little sister.
“Who is supposed to be the bride if not me huh?” I asked Sarcastically, even if I knew who she wanted to be the bride.
“I thought you were brilliant, or are you just playing dumb? You know I’m talking about Harley,” She said, still smiling, making me wonder what was funny.
“Harley tried to kill me and my kids, and she has been accused of killing Jack, you want your brother to get married to ya murderer,” I said, fuming with rage.
“Cut that shit, no one is a saint; if you were in her shoes, you would do worse,” She groaned at me, and I was dumbfounded, firstly for the fact that Ava was talking to me rudely and secondly, she doesn’t care about Harley’s crime.
“Does Harley have something on you? That is making you do all her wishes,” I asked, concerned, Ava is no more the sweet little girl I knew.
“Why are you asking that?” She replied to my question with a question, folding her hands under her breast.
“Because I can help you, I know you aren’t like this, if there is a problem, tell me. If you can’t tell me, then let your brother know,” I said, forgetting my wedding dress had been torn into shreds by this lady I was trying to help.
There was silence in the dressing room for at least five minutes before Ava spoke up.
“I’m the leader, Catherine; no one can walk over me or try to blackmail me; get some fucking facts right,” Ava said sternly before storming out of the dressing room.
I didn’t understand what she meant by being the leader, but what was certain was that Ava was no longer Burke’s little sister but a devil in disguise.
“Are you okay mam?” Susan asked, I almost forgot she was with me.
She perfectly arched an eyebrow at me, and her eyes were filled with worry.
“I think I’m fine, but my wedding is not,” I said jokingly trying to suppress my anger, although it was not working.
“I’ll get the designer immediately to send what we can come up with before the wedding,” Susan said and I nodded in approval.
She left the dressing room to get the designer; while I stared at my ripped wedding dress on the floor, my anger was beginning to rise again, and anger washed through me.
It was almost time to see the detective I paid to watch Ava’s every movement. Luckily, Susan got rid of herself before I could get rid of her; I haven’t told anybody about my detective, not even Susan; I don’t know who to trust and who not to.
I was already outside Burke’s Mansion to see the detective who was standing outside the gate of the mansion.
“Is there good news Collin?” I asked, giving him a handshake.
Collin shook his head in disagreement, meaning there was no good news, Collin had been trying to follow Ava since but to no avail, and there was only one reason.
“When she gets to the outskirts of the pack, she takes a U-turn, and then I lose track of her car, because of her high driving skills, she knows she is being followed and I don’t think you are the only one following her,” He explained, feeling exhausted about the impossible job I gave him.
I just want to know what she does in the outskirts of the pack; she goes there every damn day and makes my suspicion rise.
“Then get to learn high driving skills, Collin, I didn’t pay you for an excuse, if I wanted excuses I would have done it myself,” I said harshly, as j
I arched an eyebrow at him.
“My sincere apologies, mam,” he replied to me quietly.
But I was still angry about the fact that Ava was difficult to follow, although it interested me to know who was also having Ava followed.
“This is proving tougher than I expected; I hardly know when she even leaves the house,” I lamented to myself because all along, I thought Ava was indoors.
“Time is running out; you need to do a better job; I want to know what she is doing on the outskirts of town before my wedding day, understand?” I said sternly to Collin and he nodded his head.
Soon, he left us, and I entered Burke’s Mansion back. My kids have been playing in the garden since preparing for my wedding, and the wedding dress is in shreds.
I got to my room and was about to enter it when Susan stopped me.
“This is the designer mam,” She said, pointing at an elderly woman beside her. I never expected the woman to be so elderly.
“Where were you when Ava cut my wedding dress into shreds?” I asked, still angry about my destroyed wedding dress.
“She sent me to get more designs for her dress because she wants to be the bridesmaid mam,” She said, looking at my feet.
“Ava is fucking pissing me off,” I muttered and was about to talk again when Burke walked towards us to enter the room.
“Hey, how was the meeting?” I asked, but he ignored me; he pushed me off the road and entered the room.
“You all are dismissed,” I said and entered the room, not waiting for their reply.
“What the hell was that about Burke?” I asked, angrily as I entered the room.
He still ignored my question as he pulled out his shoes.
“What happened to talk things out when we are upset, huh?” I asked, still yelling; it was obvious Burke was angry with me, but I didn’t know why.
“How could you cut your wedding dress to shreds because you don’t like them? It was a fucking gift from me,” He yelled standing to his feet.
“Who told you that?” I asked, angrily.
“Ava, of course. She begged you not to tear the dress, but you did anyway,” He replied to my question.
“I have had enough of you and your sister, I am leaving,” I yelled at him, and he stared at me in shock.
