CHAPTER SIXTY-NINE
CATHERINE’S POV
Burke pushed me off his lap, making me land on the floor painfully.
“I love you, but you don’t get to point accusing fingers at my sister, especially when it’s a murder case and we know who did it,” He yelled, getting off the bed.
It took five minutes for me to realize Burke had just pushed me to the floor intentionally after begging me to be his wife, during sex this morning.
“Did you just drop me to the fucking ground, Burke,” I said, trying to keep my voice steady, as I was still seated on the floor, still in shock.
“Yes, I did, Catherine; you are accusing my sister of killing Jack; she is my only family,” He explained rudely as he began to undress.
“So The kids and I aren’t your family; why the fuck did you beg me to come back to the pack,” I yelled, almost crying but trying to keep my tears back; I couldn’t cry in front of him; I won’t give him that satisfaction.
“That’s different Catherine, I didn’t even grow up in their lives, but Ava and I grew up together, you can’t just show up and try to spoil our bond, it’s called a family bond and I don’t have it with you or our kids, at least not yet,” He said, still defending his stupid action.
I stood up from the ground and went towards my wardrobe.
“You only followed me because Jaxon left you, and you were alone again,” He lamented, and that was the last straw.
I took my Luggage and started folding my clothes in it, leaving Burke to look at me in surprise; he thought I couldn’t walk away and shove the fact that I love myself.
“You can’t be serious, are you about to leave?” He asked, looking at me with his shirtless chest, he looked confused and dumbfounded.
“You will not disrespect me and expect me to sit back, what the fuck do you take me for? I came here because the kids pleaded on your behalf, behind your fucking back; they wanted to know more about their fucking father,” I yelled, still packing my clothes.
I looked at Burke, and he looked surprised that the kids begged me on his behalf because I had never told him about it.
“If you are going, you aren’t taking my kids,” he stated, slipping a shirt on.
I burst into a round of laughter, finding what he said rather too funny, what the hell is he talking about?
“I tried those kids, Burke; legally, you can’t take them away from me, although I will be fine, co-parenting with you, I would not be your fucking wife,” I stated, and he looked at me speechless, with his hands placed on his waist.
“Catherine, can we talk about this, please,” He begged, sitting at the edge of the bed.
“Oh, the Almighty Alpha Burke knows how to use the word ‘Please’ and knows how to use it,” I said Sarcastically, rolling my eyes at him.
“You can’t just leave, Jack died so we could be together, how do you expect him to feel when you leave,” He said, and I took it as Emotional blackmail, Jack was a good guy but I can’t trade my happiness because he came with Burke to get me back in the pack, he would have worked on making Burke a desirable man not a rude motherfucker.
“That’s not my problem, Burke. Jack was your best friend and not mine,” I said, mostly in a whisper, folding my last clothes in my luggage.
“This is our first fight since we got back from Chicago. You can’t leave the pack, and that’s not a request but an order from your Alpha,” He ordered, thinking that would frighten me; maybe it would have frightened me seven years ago, but not anymore.
“Watch me,” I said, showing off my middle finger at him, as I rolled my luggage and shut the door loudly behind me.
I went to my kid’s room and packed their clothes in their luggage; they were still in the garden playing.
After that, I went straight to the garden to get them so we could move to Chicago permanently; I am never coming back to Crescent Pack, even if it is for Burke’s burial.
“Kids, we need to go,” I yelled in their direction as I got to the garden, where the kids were playing with Susan, my maid.
“Mum, it not it’s not nightfall yet; let’s play a little longer,” Ricky yelled, dancing around with Susan.
“Nikky, Ricky, and Dikky come here now,” I ordered sternly, and they frowned before coming in my direction.
“Get them ready, we are moving back to Chicago,” I told Susan, and she looked at me with surprise but didn’t object to my order.
“Okay, ma,” She said, walking towards the mansion.
“You won’t do such a thing, Susan.” I heard Burke’s voice ordered, and Susan stood still, not sure whom to obey.
“Don’t put her in a tight space, Burke; this is between you and me,” I said to Burke, then turned to Susan, “Do as I told you to,” I ordered her.
“No, you won’t; I employed you, not Catherine,” Burke ordered, putting his hands into his shorts pockets.
Susan stood speechless while my kids were already entering the mansion, not knowing what was happening behind them.
“Then I will,” I said rudely to both Susan and Burke.
“Catherine, I’m wrong, and I’m sorry. Can we talk about this,” I heard Burke’s voice say as I was walking to the mansion, increasing my pace at every second.
I didn’t look back, till I got to the mansion door.
“Shit, he’s walking behind me,” I said to myself, as Burke was walking fastly to meet up with me, I didn’t want to talk because I’ll end up forgiving him.
I walked into the mansion, walking at a high speed.
Soon, I was at the door Burke and I shared and remembered I had left a valuable piece of jewelry inside.
I pushed the door open and found Harley, trying to enter the room through the window.
