CHAPTER TWENTY
CATHERINE’S POV
With haste, I ran to Ethan’s room and found him on his bed, with his eyes opened, and confusion written all over his face.
“Ethan?” I called his name, in the form of a question, but he did not respond, rather he sat there looking at everyone in confusion.
“What am I doing here?” He asked, removing the drip from his palm, making him bleed, the guards held him in place but Ethan kept screaming.
“Get me the fuck out of here, I want to meet my wife,” he yelled, making me scared.
“What have I done?” I asked myself, I could see the disappointment in Burke’s eyes and the anger in Ava’s eyes, but I dared not look into Harley’s eyes.
I quickly reached for an injection and filled it with a sleeping dose. Quickly I injected Ethan with it, and he fell asleep immediately.
“Please, I need you all to leave so that I can make some diagnosis and know what state he is in,” I said, trying to sound confident.
I could make a diagnosis in their presence normally, but today was different. Their stares would allow me to make mistakes that I wouldn’t be able to take back.
“You want us to leave so you can finally kill him? I mean look at him,” Ava replied to my request rudely, pointing to Ethan who was already unconscious on the bed.
“I did not ask for this Ava, if you don’t want to leave, then I’ll leave you to finish his treatment,” I said calmly, Ready to leave.
“Fine, we will leave, but know it’s not over yet, if something happens to my father you will be sent to the north turret,” Ava threatened, making me burst into a round of laughter.
“That can’t happen dear,” I said, and the defect in her face made me braver. Soon Ava, Harley, and the servants left the room, but Burke stayed, staring at me.
“You weren’t exempted Burke,” I said harshly, but he did not respond, he came closer to me, and when he got to where I was, he drew me closer to him, making our bodies rub against each other.
Burke Bent over and whispered to my ears.
“That was bold of you, but I’m in your room waiting for you, do quick and don’t keep me waiting,” Burke said before leaving the room.
I stood there, still filling Burke’s presence, the thought of him on my bed waiting for me clouded my mind, and no matter how I tried to shake that thought off, it refused to leave.
Soon I was done with Ethan’s Diagnosis, he had not fully recovered and his full recovery might take another three weeks or more. I don’t know if I should be happy or sad that my stay here has gotten longer and also interesting.
My mind was clouded with thoughts of Burke and I hated it. It feels like I am cheating on Jaxon, even if I haven’t done anything with Burke, but if Burke tries to kiss or touch me, I don’t think I’ll be able to stop him, that is the more reason I’m worried.
But all of this was Jaxon’s fault. If he had not sold me out, I wouldn’t be here thinking of cheating on him.
Within minutes, I was at the front of my door contemplating whether to enter or not. I know entering a room with Burke Michealson will be too much of a temptation for me, but the greater part of me wanted to enter and know why he was waiting for me.
Without thinking much of it, I opened the door and saw Burke sitting on my bed, Shirtless. My mouth dropped open immediately.
“What the hell is he doing on my bed Shirtless, and freaking tempting,” I said to myself quietly, using my eyes to trace all the tattoos he had on his chest.
“You can stop staring and come in, we have something important to talk about,” he said with a chuckle, making me embarrassed.
“I’m not staring,” I lied, and closed the door behind me, trying to keep my eyes down, on my shoes as I walked.
“What an obvious lie,” he said, still chuckling. It was truly an obvious lie, so I did not argue.
“What did you want to talk about, that you came here shirtless,” I said, gesturing to his chest.
“Firstly, I want to know what happened to my father and secondly, I see the way you look at me when I’m shirtless, I love it, that’s why I chose not to wear a shirt here,” he said and I stared at him in disbelief. He was tempting me intentionally.
I cleared my throat and spoke up after finding my voice.
“Your father is still recovering, that is his first stage of recovery and secondly, you can’t try to seduce an engaged woman, it’s called forbidden romance,” I said, putting my medical tools on the table.
“It’s called forbidden romance if the engaged woman is falling for my seduction,” his voice sounded husky as he spoke and I loved it, for no reason.
“Burke I don’t know the game you are playing but it needs to stop, I won’t cheat on Jaxon, he loves me,” I said, pulling my hair from the messy bun I had packed it. My hair fell to my shoulder helplessly.
“Do you love him?, He asked and I did not know how to answer his question.
I may not love Jaxon in the same manner as Burke but I respect him, and that’s the thing that most relationships lack. If you respect your partner there’s a lot you won’t do to them.
“I respect him,” I whispered.
I was about to go to my wardrobe to get a face wipe while Burke dragged me back to the bed, making me sit close to him, I could feel the heat his body provided.
“Do you think respect is enough?” He asked, bringing my face to look at him, but my eyes fell to his lips.
“I think…”
I could not complete my statement because Burke captured my lips with his.
I am kissing Burke fucking Michealson.
