Chapter 34

Book:The Alpha King's Hybrid Mate Published:2025-2-8

People trooped out of their various houses as the guards marched in the direction of the Apothecary.
A loud knock landed on the door which angered Savannah.
“Who the hell is that?” She screamed out before flinging the door open. She was shocked to see the number of guards standing in front of her.
“What do you guys want here?” She managed to say after some moments of being stunned.
“Does this paper belong to you?” Patrick asked as he stretched out his hand for Savannah’s reach.
Savannah grabbed the paper from him and rolled her eyes over it. Their family’s signature was right at the back, so there was no way for her to deny it.
She felt the content of the paper, and she became instantly alarmed.
“Oh no! This was the paper I gave to Clara.” She thought within herself and instantly calmed herself down. She tried not to show her nervousness in front of the guards.
“Yeah. It’s mine. Any problem?” She asked the guard, desperately hiding her nervousness.
“I am sorry, lady Savannah, I am afraid you are under arrest,” Patrick muttered, and Savannah’s face opened wide.
“What? Why?” Savannah yelled at Patrick.
“This paper was found at the crime scene where the previous chief guard was murdered, and after checking the contents of the paper, we find it out to be a knocking-out powder. Even if you are not the murderer, I believe you must have given out the powder to someone.” Patrick said and Savannah began to regret each one of her actions.
“I shouldn’t have used my branded paper.” She muttered with a sigh.
Two guards walked behind her, and pulled her hands to her back, ready to handcuff her.
“How dare you touch me? Do you know who I am?” Savannah screamed, but Patrick ordered the officers to carry on.
“Even if your father was alive, I am afraid he can’t save you right at the moment.” Patrick spat out and ordered the officers to handcuff her.
Savannah couldn’t withstand the embarrassment she felt as she was being dragged by the guards within the pack. Some people felt pity for her, while some reprimanded her for her bad actions in the pack, especially when she refused to save the Luna, which nearly caused the death of their Alpha.
“Who does she think she is? Just because of a mere plaque?” Someone said while another person agreed to the talk.
Lydia couldn’t believe her ears when her maid told her that Savannah had been arrested. She threw away the book she was reading and sprang up from her bed.
“What? Are you sure of what you are saying?” Lydia roared, and the maid hurriedly bowed in fear.
“Yes…yes my lady.” The maid replied.
Lydia suddenly began to feel hot and uncomfortable. Her armpits itched and her veins pulsated. Sweat formed on her face despite the cool breeze that blew into the room, and she nervously cracked her knuckles.
“Clara, I have to see Clara.” She said as she dashed out of the room.
She stopped abruptly when she saw Clara walking towards her in their compound.
“You’ve heard?” Clara asked while Lydia nodded.
“This is not a safe place to talk, come with me,” Lydia said, and Clara slowly walked behind her.
“How did they relate the matter to her, she didn’t even follow us to the prison house,” Lydia asked nervously as soon as they reached her father’s study.
“It was my fault, I accidentally dropped the paper she wrapped the powder she gave me with.” She replied and Lydia placed her hand on her head.
“How? Just how?” Lydia panicked as she paced the study. She rested her head on the desk and tapped her fingers on the desk as her mind was filled with different thoughts.
Savannah was her best friend and had been her companion since childhood. Now that she had gotten into trouble, and it was because of her, she couldn’t know what to feel.
“So we have to find a solution to it if both of us want to keep our heads,” Clara said, and Lydia stopped to take a look at her.
“Do you have one in mind?” Lydia asked and Clara sighed. She moved from where she stood and sat beside Lydia.
“I have, but it might be cold to you,” Clara said, staring straight into Lydia’s eyes.
Lydia’s heart raced as she read Clara’s eyeballs.
“Don’t tell me you want to…” Lydia screamed. She sprang up from her chair and wore a cold, brutal expression.
“I understand that your feelings might be hurt. But at extreme times, we have to take extreme measures.” Clara persuaded but Lydia was not having it.
“So you want me to…you want…” Lydia struggled to talk, and the exact word couldn’t find its way out of her mouth.
“Yes, Savannah must die.”
“What?”
Suddenly, the door flung open, and the two of them turned their eyes at the door, which caused their heart to almost jump out of their hearts.
