It was the moon priestess’ birthday ceremony. Well-wishers trooped in and out of her residence, beaming with smiles.
“So we are holding a banquet for her?” Sara asked Killian in shock and he wondered why she was so shocked about the news.
“Yes of course. But why do you seem so flustered?” Killian uttered as he wore his favorite red robe with a phoenix pattern.
“You didn’t tell me beforehand so I could have prepared a gift for her. How would the Luna of a pack attend a gathering without a gift? And it’s not even an ordinary figure; it’s the moon priestess, for crying out loud.” Sara screamed as she paced the room nervously. She wondered how embarrassed she would feel at the banquet.
Killian dragged her hand and smiled at her.
“See, you are getting all worked up. As the Luna of our pack, you should always remember to keep your cool no matter the situation. Anytime I go fiery as a man, you should be the one to calm me down.” Killian said with a sigh while Sara stared at him.
“It’s easier said than done.” She replied and sat on the bed with a sigh.
Killian smiled at her and pulled out a box from the drawer.
“I was just teasing you. I have gotten the gifts for both of us.” Sara’s joy knew no bounds as Killian uttered the statement. She felt so thrilled that she could sense a wave of emotions travel through her bones.
“That’s so thoughtful of you. Thanks.” Sara muttered and proceeded to hug Killian. She wrapped her hands tight around Killian, and he began to cough.
“You want to suffocate me?” He asked while Sara smiled greatly at him.
“Yeah…that reminds me. The lady from that night, I mean Clara. I haven’t been seeing her around.” Said Sara as she wore some concerned looks on her face.
“Oh! I also noticed it and I asked the chief guard about it. Nothing is wrong, okay?” Killian replied and Sara heaved a sigh of relief. She was afraid that the lady might have ended her life due to the calamity that had befallen her.
“Are you done?” Killian asked as he strapped his belt around his robe.
“Sure,” She replied as she applied the last bit of her makeup on.
They both headed towards the pack mail hall where the feast was to be held.
“Greetings, my Alpha. Thank you for taking me in.” Clara greeted as she bumped into Killian and Sara on the way.
“You are welcome. Hope you are enjoying your stay in the pack?” Killian asked and Clara nodded happily.
“Sure. Everyone is good to me, I can’t ask for more.” She replied with a wide smile.
As Sara stared at her, she felt a huge familiarity with the lady, but she just couldn’t recall where she had seen her from.
“Luna Sara, are you also heading towards the banquet?” Clara asked, admiring Sara’s beautiful dress. Sara also familiarized herself with her, not knowing that she had an evil intent towards her.
The three of them headed to the venue, which was exquisitely decorated. The hall was painted in colors of Royal blue and burgundy, expensive chandeliers hung through the ceiling, and the lighting was just perfect. Everything about the ceremony exuded sophistication and ambiance.
The ceremony started soon, beautiful dancers graced the occasion with their elegant dances, while female wolves tried their best to satisfy their mates to divert their attention from the beautiful dancers.
Maids walked in with trays of food and drinks, serving everyone in the order of hierarchy.
“Is this for the Luna?” The chief guard asked a maid as she carried a tray of food past him.
“Yes, miss.” The maid replied and Savannah smirked.
He suddenly changed his expression and the smile disappeared from his lips.
“How could you be so careless? He yelled at the maid, and she hurriedly bowed her head.
As the maid lowered her head, the chief guard gently lifted the lid of the wine cup and dropped a pill inside of it. He smirked and winked at both Clara and Lydia.
“How could you not cover Luna’s meal appropriately? Get out of my sight.” The Chief guard ordered and the maid hurried out of his sight.
She placed the meal before Sara, who unsuspiciously drank the wine immediately.
“You’ve been so thirsty?” Killian asked her with a romantic side-eye.
“I have been so dehydrated, I have been trying my best not to show it. I couldn’t stand the glance of the liquor in front of me, so I had to gulp it down.” She replied with a smile which was instantly replaced by a frown as she rubbed her stomach gently.
“Are you alright?” Asked Killian as he noticed her sudden change of expression.
“I am fine. I just need to visit the restroom.” She muttered and slowly got up from her seat, but suddenly collapsed back.
All attention was paid to Sara as everyone rushed to help her up.
“Sara, what’s wrong? Talk to me.” Killian inched closer to her and tried all means to resuscitate her, which all proved abortive.
Savannah stood by the side and wore a bitter smile. She remembered what Clara told her when she approached her.
“What? You want to poison Sara?” She had asked in shock when Clara told her about it.
“Don’t you want your friend to be the Luna? Besides, it’s your chance to get something that you’ve always wanted.” Clara uttered with such an evil smile that made Savannah’s brain stop for a second.
“What do you mean?” Savannah asked, and Clara moved closer to her and whispered some words into her ear, which caused Savannah’s eyes to pop out.
“And they will come to you, as only you can cure her.” Clara had finalized and she couldn’t wait for that to happen now.
The moon priestess lifted Sara’s hand and felt her pulse. Her shocked expression sent chilly waves down Killian’s spine. If a whole moon priestess could be shocked by her condition, it only means the situation was more complex than they thought.
“Moon priestess, what’s wrong with her?” Killian asked with a shaky voice.
“She is poisoned, and I am afraid I can’t cure her.” A loud wail escaped everyone in the hall and Killian staggered.
“But we can try out a method.” She continued and Killian’s face lit up in excitement.
“Tell me, I will get it done immediately,” Killian screamed agitatedly.
“Savannah, only Savannah can cure her.”
The moon priestess replied and all eyes turned to Savannah.
Killian rushed to Savannah’s side and grabbed her hand.
“Please, save my Luna, please,” Killian begged while Savannah flung her icy expression on him before giving him an agonizing smile.
“No, I won’t save her.”
