CHAPTER 114

QUEEN CHRISELDA
“Tell me… Who’s a better Queen between the late Violet and I?” I asked my maids while staring at my reflection in the mirror.
“Um… Between you two?” They mumbled amongst themselves, looking terrified.
I saw their faces through my mirror. It looked as if I had asked a very dangerous question that will take their lives away.
Well, maybe that’s what will happen, if their answer affects my mood negatively.
“You of course, Luna. You are better than the late Queen Violet!” They chorused, smiling at me.
But their grins are just fake!
I can see through their faux response. They think that dead woman is better than me!
“Okay. What’s your take on that Omega called Evolet?” I asked, turning around to face them. “Do you think she possesses the qualities of a Luna?” I lifted my brow, waiting for their response.
Among the seven maids who stood before me, only five were wise enough to stay shut while the other two… “She does, my Queen! Evolet is an amazing girl.”
“My honest opinion Luna, maybe we should just stop this game and make her the Alpha’s mate. I mean… She really has what it takes to rule this pack and save us from our enemies. She’s worthy to take after you.”
“Oh really?” I smiled at these two, grinning at their opinion.
When they nodded, smiling back at me… “GET OUT, YOU IDIOTS!!” I sparked at them, causing the girls to race out of my room in fright.
The others followed. My voice had startled them as well. But they gave me no choice. They ignited this anger in me!
“Imbeciles! What do they know? They are just foolish!” I roared, tossing the chair in my front, right to the ground.
And that’s when Allen came in, stunned to find his mother in a mess.
“What happened? I saw the maids running out of your room. Did they do something to provoke you?” He asked, drawing closer to me.
Trying to calm my rage, I said, hiding the real reason behind my eruption, “They forgot to bring what I asked them to carry! But I’ll be fine. I’ll be fine.” I sighed, running my hands across my face.
“Mother, please don’t overwork yourself. You keep forgetting that you are not the only one who rules this pack. I am the Alpha. Allow me to handle things myself,” he said, placing his hands on my shoulders.
And the moment his presence was near, I picked a different scent coming from my son’s body!
It’s not his smell at all. Did he just rub bodies with a girl?!
I turned over to look at my son, who stood behind me with a smile on his face.
This idiotic Wolf!
“What is wrong, Luna?” He asked, lifting a brow suspiciously.
But I didn’t allow him to get a hint of what I noticed. I just sighed and calmly took his hands off my shoulders, saying, “You are the Alpha of Wolf Fall. I want you to show the people that side of you, not something irresponsible.”
“You’re making it sound like I don’t do my duties at all,” he chuckled.
When he saw his mother wasn’t laughing, his smile faded.
He carefully sniffed his shirt, realization why I made that statement.
Allen’s mood changed. He looked a bit ashamed in my front.
“Don’t allow yourself to fall flat due to temptation. Be wise,” I warned, fixing my gaze right into his eyes balls.
He became uncomfortable and left my room without saying a word.
“My struggles are for you, son. I am preparing a great future where you’ll rule this pack with an iron fist in my absence. But if you still want to fool around like a senseless wolf, then your mother has no choice but to rule like always.”
I closed my eyes, tightening my hand into a fist.
.
That evening, I was making my way to Thelma’s room to see if she was back. But when I got there, I found the door locked.
A guard who came by, told me that my sorceress wasn’t back from her outing since morning.
This surprised me.
“Till now?” I uttered, flashing a glance at the dark cloud outside the window. “She has been out there all day. Did she find something?” I wondered, waving my hand at the guard to leave.
Feeling she had seen something interesting that has kept her away from the mansion, I decided to just head back to my chamber and wait when suddenly… something caught my attention from the corridor at my left.
What I saw… What I saw…
“Is that…” I trembled in my spot, slowly turning over to the corridor, only to see the end of a purple dress moving into the path on the left!
That dress… That’s Violet’s royal gown!
I was petrified, still I didn’t want to believe what I just saw with my own eyes. It has to be my thoughts playing games on me, or maybe someone who’s carrying out a dirty role play in my home!
“I thought her room was closed? Who is this animal that went in there?!”
Troubled, I rushed over to the corridor to catch this person in Violet’s attire. But when I got there… “What?” I froze, seeing no one!
“This is impossible.” I gasped, looking around to see if this person had rushed into the closest room at the side, but the door is shut.
Even the other doors are far from my point. There’s no way that person flew off in that speed.
Still, I furiously banged into the room with force, looking to see if I’ll catch this prankster.
But it was empty.
Just when I was aiming for the rooms away from this one, I froze on seeing a woman in Violet’s gown, with her hair dropped down on her shoulder, walking pass the door!
I was terrified!
Her figure looked so much like Violet!
Shaking, I carefully went to peep and saw this lady walking right into the pathway, heading straight down the staircase.
The sight of this was shocking. Not because of the dress she wore, but her figure and walking style!
This is how Violet walks!
“No, this can’t be real. This must be a trick!” I panicked, following this woman from behind.
I got close to the banister and saw her taking the route on the right, walking gracefully like the way she always does.
But I didn’t want to believe this. There’s no way this woman is Violet.
She’s dead!
Suspicious of a foul play being carried out on me, I angrily called out to this lady in Violet’s dress, going after her.
“Pray I don’t get my hands on you, because you’ll be sorry you ever pulled this stunt on me!” I roared, increasing my pace.
But she didn’t quiver. She kept on going.
It got to a point that I lost track of this imposter in disguise, until I found myself running pass my throne room and coming to a stop instantly.
I saw her.
She’s inside!
Quickly, I rushed back to the room and found the place all dark. The only thing that gave little light was the moon reflecting its ray through the window, glowing right before my throne.
And what I saw sent fire into my blood.
This woman in Violet’s dress was sitting on my throne majestically! Her face was hidden in the dark because the moon only reflected on her dress.
“How dare you? Get your dirty self off my throne?!” I roared, matching inside to deal with this fool.
That’s when it happened.
Something I wasn’t expecting took place before my very eyes!
The imposter rose to her feet in the dark, shimmering her wolf eyes at me. But her eyes wasn’t like any normal wolf because… it glowed Purple!
It can’t be!
“Violet?” I called in horror, dragging my feet back at once!
She stared at me. Her bright eyes showed nothing but deep hate and pure detest for me!
It’s her!
When I saw her coming close with darkness creeping around us, covering the moon’s light, I screamed and raced out of the room in fear!
“HELP! SOMEBODY HELP ME!!” I shouted, running like hell until I found myself bumping into my guards and… “ALLEN!” I screamed out my son’s name, grabbing him close for support!
“Mother, what happened?” he asked on seeing how horrified I was.
All I could do was point into the direction of my throne room, trembling out to my son, “She’s there. I saw her!”
“Go!” Allen ordered the guards strongly, wrapping his arms around me.
They went to check the throne room but came back with nothing.
“There’s no one there,” they reported, shrugging.
“What are you saying? Go back and check again!” I sparked, pulling myself out of Allen’s hold.
“There’s a woman inside! She’s wearing a purple dress and… and…”
“Mother, calm down. I’ll check myself,” Allen volunteered, going over to the room to investigate.
And when he returned, it was the same thing.
He saw no one!
“No, I saw her. She was sitting on my throne,” I shared, now feeling confused.
“Mother, please. I’ve told you this already. You need to stop stressing yourself. It’s not good for your age,” Allen said, comforting me.
He told me to head to my room and rest. But instead of doing that, I went over to Violet’s room to be sure of what I just saw.
That chamber has been locked for years. Even Allen has never dared to step inside to check Violet’s things. I made it clear that the Late Luna’s memories must be respected.
But tonight, I’m going to break that rule.
When I got there, I found the room still locked with its rusty padlock.
In my desperation, I broke the lock and barged inside to search around. The window was still shut. It looked the same like the way it has been left for years.
I went over to the wardrobe and scattered through Violet’s clothes to look for… the same purple dress!
“It’s here,” I gasped, staring at the same gown I saw on that woman.
It’s still here, hanging with the others. It doesn’t feel like someone wore it, it’s…
“Oh Goddess!” I trembled, drawing away from the wardrobe and hitting something over from behind.
The sound made me scared. I jumped and turned around to find Violet’s dusty picture frame broken.
She was smiling and looking right at me!
Was that her ghost in the throne room?
“No, that’s a lie. You are dead!” I groaned, picking up the picture to vent my frustration on it. “You are dead I say! DEAD!”
“Stay where you are rotting, Violet. The living doesn’t need a dead Queen to rule them. That throne belongs to me. I am the true Luna of Wolf Fall! ARGH!”
I threw the picture against the wall, making it break.
“I ENDED YOU, SO STAY DEAD! THIS IS MY PACK!!” I screamed, falling on my knees.
“I am the Queen. Everyone knows I’m the most powerful Luna, not you,” I mumbled, losing myself.
