QUEEN CHRISLEDA
I was losing my patience minute by minute.
The thought of the hunt, the vampire that snuck into my land, and that girl running around with my spirit wolf… Everything has been getting to my head, running me nuts!
Until my wonderful sorceress called me over to her chamber that evening, with a good news to deliver.
She found the vampire who came into Wolf Fall.
She was able to use her spell to trace his location down to Brook Wave, a very far away pack from us.
And I was set to bring terror on those bloody bats when suddenly… “My Queen!” Thelma exclaimed, pointing at my pendant!
It’s glowing! The Spirit wolf is on the move!
“Quickly, search for her! We can deal with that bat later,” I ordered, getting thrilled.
Thelma began with her spells sluggishly. She was looking weak and suggested for a brief break in taking her medicine.
“No!” I refused. “Finish the incantation and trace that wolf! Have you forgotten that your healing lies in that girl?!” I raised my voice, reminding Thelma.
“If we have her now, then you won’t have to…”
And just like that… “ARGH!” The pendant stopped glowing.
I was so mad that I began venting my rage on Thelma. “You wasted our time! Now we don’t know when she’ll unlock the power. GODDESS!”
“My Queen, calm down. We’ll surely get her,” Thelma said, trying to calm my temper.
But I had no time for that. I can’t wait anymore!
I watched my Sorceress grabbing her stinky potion, as she repeated her words, assuring me that the bearer of the spirit wolf would unleash the beast again.
“She did it before, didn’t she? She did it not too long, and she will still repeat it again. Just be calm.” She smiled, emptying the whole bottle in her mouth.
I groaned at the smell, looking away.
“I’ll be out of this ingredient soon. If I can’t get more to keep myself healthy till the day we get the wolf, I think…”
“Don’t even go there,” I warned, flashing my eyes at her.
She went silent, taking a quick glance at the pendant around my neck. Her eyes were yearning for the tiny dust in the jewel, desperate to use it and cure the little problem she’s facing.
“You are Thelma, the strongest Sorceress in every land. You shouldn’t accept that word ‘Weakness’ so quickly. At least, live up to your name.”
“Of course, your majesty. Like you don’t know what made this old lady the must powerful Sorceress around the land,” she responded sarcastically, rolling her eyes at me.
That attitude was disrespectful. But I’ll let it slide since she’s ill.
“I’ll act like I didn’t hear what you just…”
All of a sudden, the necklace came glowing again!
I gasped in shock, looking at Thelma, who gave out at a grin and said, “Didn’t I tell you? I knew she’d unleash her powers again.”
“Hurry up! Be quick before she seals it!” I drew closer, getting impatient.
Thelma performed her incantations, and just like the first time, a cloud came out from her nasty potion, showing the location of the spirit wolf.
“Well what do you know?” Thelma’s eyes glowed, with laughter streaming out from her mouth.
“What? Tell me, what is it?!” I asked, curious to know what was happening.
That’s when she revealed to me. “Our wolf is at the same location as the vampire we’re after. She’s in Brook wave.”
“Really?” This was appealing to my ears.
Both enemies at the same place? This will be like killing two birds with one stone.
Thelma, who was a step ahead, decided to use the vampire to get the spirit wolf.
“They are very close to each other. It’s going to be easy,” she said, unleashing her powers.
This time around, it was more intense.
I watched Thelma acting strangely, like she was there in spirit. She moved her body and groaned many times, revealing that our prey wasn’t alone.
“Is it that Dark Blood?” I asked, suspicious of Cadell.
“No.” She swayed her head and said, “I don’t think so. Their energy doesn’t match that beast. I can’t even tell who they are.”
She kept on with this and soon began to speak directly to the bearer of the spirit wolf.
The rage in her tone showed how serious the battle was getting, until… “AHHH!”
I shivered in fear, watching Thelma grab her head like a lunatic, screaming out in pain!
“Thelma! THELMA!” I yelled, calling out to her. “What’s happening to you?”
Suddenly, she dropped her gaze at me and gave me the nastiest and creepiest stare I’ve ever seen!
“Thelma?”
The look in her eyes… I don’t think that’s Thelma anymore!
Abruptly, she gave out another scream and began to rush to her table, falling right on it like a maniac.
I couldn’t do anything but watch in horror, wondering what came over my sorceress.
And in a switch, Thelma gasped out and said, breathing heavily, “She… she took over. She took over my mind!”
She fell on her knees, struggling to breath!
“My Queen, please… Please!” She began to crawl to my point, gasping out for air! “Give it to me. Give me the pendant!”
“Why?!” I questioned, sensing her plan.
The jewel was still glowing, showing that the spirit wolf was active.
“I can’t give this to you, unless you want to track down that wolf. Anything outside that is a No!”
“CHRISELDA!” Thelma yelled, grabbing my legs!
I shrieked at her aggressive behavior, pulled my legs out of her hold and ran over to her table to grab one of her potion.
I know she wants to use the dust in reviving her strength, and I will not allow her to snatch away this only opportunity we have!
I won’t!
Grabbing the potion, I rushed up to her, forced her mouth wide open, and poured the liquid down her throat.
She gurgled and came coughing, dropping her head face down.
I stood back and watched how her aging skin reversed back a bit. The stinky potion did the trick.
“All you had to do was ask for your medicine, not to demand for something as precious as this pendant!” I tossed the bottle to the ground, holding the jewel close.
And the glow came dimming out, showing that the wolf has been sealed again.
Oh, I felt my blood boiling.
Once again we’ve failed to get that girl!
My eyes fell on Thelma, only to find her flashing her wolf eyes at me. I glared back and asked, “What? You want to fight me for doing what is right?”
“I almost died.”
“And I saved you by feeding you your slime. Isn’t that enough?”
“The potion is no longer strong enough to keep me healthy!” She yelled, rising to her feet to face me.
“You saw I was in pain, yelling out and scrambling around! Instead of doing what we both know was the right thing to do, you stood your ground like the selfish woman you are!”
“How dare you?!” I sparked, grabbing Thelma by the neck!
She groaned in my hold, struggling.
“You will not have this dust until that brat is found! I already promised to give you all the powers you need if we get her! And you want to ruin that chance just because you’re too weak to reach for your bottle?! No!”
I pushed her back, not caring if she bumped into anything.
“This pendant will stay with me until the day we get my spirit wolf. Make a list for your potion, and I’ll send the guards to search around for you,” I ordered, declining Thelma’s request.
Just as I was about to leave her alone in her mess… “You act like you don’t remember how we became the powerful, Chriselda.”
I came to a halt on hearing her call me by name for the second time.
“If we hadn’t taken a little of Luna Violet’s power that day, you and I wouldn’t be here as the most powerful Queen and sorceress in every beastly kingdom,” she spoke, reminding me of that bloody battle.
“You know well that your pendant is the only thing that can revive my strength, but you don’t want to give it to me. If I end up dying Chriselda… How will you defeat Cadell and the spirit wolf on your own? How?”
I felt a lump in my throat. The flash of the past came flooding back into my head.
Unable to hold it in, I said to Thelma, “Make your list. I’ll send a guard to you soon.”
Then, I left.
Heading back to my chamber, I began to flash to the old days when Violet and I were together as friends.
The elders from my young time, called her Goddess Diana’s gift to the creatures. She was like an angel that came down from the heavens to bring every creature love and harmony.
I’ve been envious of her powers even though I was the luckiest person to be her best friend.
But it wasn’t enough.
I wanted more than just that.
She made me her Beta after I showed my skills, making her trust me to the core. But still, I wasn’t satisfied.
She kept receiving all the attention both far and near, infuriating my heart.
And when I met Sorceress Thelma, an enchantress, she told me the secret to great power.
And it all lied in Violet.
I made so many attempts in getting Violet killed, but that Dark Blood from hell was always with her!
From the first day he came into our land, Thelma knew he was going to be trouble, and she had to go extreme, leading to the great war that helped us in executing Violet.
I can still remember how I stabbed that sword right into her chest with the potion coated all over the edges. She cried in pain while I watched her power flowing slowly into the bottle Thelma gave to me.
But Cadell!
ARGH! That demon came in quickly and broke the sword, covering Violet with his darkness!
His powers almost neutralized the whole drop I took, but I could only save a little. And he fled away with her, far into the woods.
That little substance gave me the strength to plant fear in the heart of other creatures. It made Thelma the powerful sorceress known around!
We were able to sway every werewolves to our side, forcing them to see us as their true savior from other beasts.
And mostly, it was one of the key ingredient to Thelma’s barrier against Cadell.
Now that the power is fading away in Thelma… “I need that wolf!” I slammed my hand against the wall, getting frustrated.
If Thelma loses all her strength and dies, I won’t be able to face my enemies alone. If I give her this pendant, we’ll be back to square one, waiting on the heavens to shine its luck on us! And that’s something we both know will never happen.
“I’m sorry, Thelma. You will have to endure until we find that girl. I can’t give this to you,” I promised, holding the jewel.
