EVOLET
Brook Wave pack became a battleground.
The pack members ran helter-skelter, looking for a way out of this crises that had fallen on them.
There was no sign of guards or an intervention from their ruler to this problem. It felt like the Alpha of Brook Wave wasn’t even around.
It became an ‘Everyman for himself situation.’ Everyone had to fight to save themselves from the vampires or they’ll be doomed.
As I ran ahead with my mother and best friend, looking for a safe spot to keep them both, a vampire came swooping down and snatching Mom!
Mom screamed and tried to hit the creature off, but it wouldn’t budge!
“Mom!” I yelled, tightening my grip around her hand.
The vampire almost went high into the air with her, but couldn’t go that far since I was still holding her hand.
And with my strength, I furiously pulled Mom down, bringing the vampire to my direction, with my feet slamming right into his face!
He immediately passed out, falling sluggishly to the ground.
“Mom, are you okay?” I asked, facing my mother, who looked a bit petrified from what just happened.
She nodded and stared at me strangely, unable to speak.
Gosh! She only wanted a week of relaxation, not this! I have to solve this problem fast.
“Evolet, move!” Derby screamed, pushing my mother and I to the side!
Another vampire had almost grabbed me, but Derby quickly intervened.
She even went as far as grabbing this vampire from the left wings and ripping it off the creature’s back.
I was stunned to see Derby switching from sweet to violent! She went hard on this being who had to flee away when she grabbed a wooden plank to bash his head.
“I will murder you!” She screamed, breathing out heavily.
Mom and I were blown by Derby’s reaction.
She then looked at us and said, “Vampires hate woods that can stab deep into their heart. This should help us until we’re out of this place.” She broke her wood into two, handing one to me.
I smiled at Derby, who looked like a fighter out for blood. Her vibe and courage made me proud of her.
“They also have other weaknesses, and silver is among. But we can’t get that in a werewolf land, except the Alpha’s home,” Mom shared, looking around.
Knowing we had no time for that, I said, “We need to find somewhere to hide until this is over.”
“Anywhere is fine, as long as we can defend ourselves,” Derby said, swiftly slamming her wood like a bat, right into the face of another vampire flying through.
“Wow! It’s like our practice during the hunt. But this time, we’re using it against foes!” she cheered, getting fired up.
I agreed with Derby’s idea and gave Mom the wood in my hold. She gazed in surprise and asked, “What will you use to defend yourself?”
“I’ll be fine, trust me,” I said, patting her.
Again, I saw that strange look in her gaze when I gave her my word. She hummed at me and held the wood close, making her move with Derby, who took the lead.
I don’t know why she gave me that expression, but this wasn’t the time to ask.
Moving as a group, Derby handled every attack that came from ahead and I dealt with the one’s from behind with my fist.
Mom tried as well by striking from the sides, keeping the team tight.
We were handling this well until we saw a group of men sending both women and children into a building for safety, while they fought the vampires that tried to attack.
Most of them had shifted into their beast, to make this fight easier.
Seeing this, I immediately got Derby and Mom’s attention to that point, suggesting we join them.
They immediately agreed and began making their way to that part, dashing with speed.
Just as I was following, I caught sight of that lady from the fair, hovering in the air with a large bat wings attached to her back.
Hers was way bigger than the others. It was massive!
And come to think of it, she’s the only female vampire around. She didn’t do much but watched the vampires attack the werewolves.
I even saw when she waved her hands at a direction and some vampires went into that path, attacking and capturing innocent lives.
Her demeanor gave the smell of power and dominance.
It became clear.
She’s their Queen!
“She’s the one leading them! Seems I’ll have to get to her then,” I decided, reducing my pace.
Derby and Mom got into the building for safety but became stunned when they saw me still outside!
“EVOLET!” Mom yelled my name.
“EVE! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!” Derby did the same, signaling me to run into the building.
But I didn’t.
I turned my back at them and faced the point of the Vampire Queen, who soon directed her gaze at the building the people had gotten into for safety, and signaled her army at us.
Seeing how they came diving towards the building with speed… “If you can hear me Cadell, know this is a serious emergency.” I pulled the wooden wolf off my necklace and felt the energy of my beast circulating my system.
My wolf took over giving me strength.
When I lifted my gaze at these vampires, I gave a powerful leap off the floor and charged at them with speed, unleashing my beast on all of them.
None of them could get to the building without getting a painful strike to their body. I brought them down in a flash, directing my attention at the Queen, who saw this and gazed back at me in shock.
Her minions ceased their attacks, flashing their bloody eyes my way.
That was a sign that they found a new threat, and that’s me.
“Eve?” I heard Mom call out from behind, in a soft voice.
My heart gave a skip, as I reminded myself that she knows nothing about my gift… until now.
I looked back and found every staring at me in astonishment. Derby and Mom were more stunned since they were closer to this wolfless Omega.
Their eyes filled with so many questions.
“It’s for the best,” I muttered to myself, accepting my decision wholeheartedly.
“Bring her to me,” I heard the Queen’s voice echo from behind.
That forced me to turn around and see her pointing at my direction, sending a large army of vampires my way.
“Well, I saw this coming.” I dashed off into a different direction, away from the building where Mom and Derby hid.
Now that the vampires have been instructed to get me, they won’t go anywhere near the people.
That will give me the chance to handle them as I want.
