EVOLET
“I don’t believe this! Gosh, I feel so mad!” I groaned and paced about in my room, filled with rage.
“I wanted both Fiona and Allen to face the music, not just Fiona alone! That rotten wolf. I feel like blasting him to nothing! He blamed Fiona for everything!”
“He’s the Alpha after all. You saw how he swayed the people into believing his lies. He gave them the chance to make the judgement after planting his words into their head,” Trent pointed out to us, sighing out in frustration. “He easily got himself out of the hook. That bastard.”
“But he’s not far from the line,” Cadell said, crossing his arms. “He got lucky now, but he won’t be the next time. We’ll make sure of it.” He looked at me, giving me a smile to relieve myself from the anger clouding my body.
It was hard, but I gave in, calming my temper.
“Yeah. We’ll make sure of that.”
“Now they want all the damsels, except Fiona, to return back for a rematch,” Trent reminded us of the Queen’s decision, increasing my annoyance.
My palms came covering my face as I unleashed a big scream, pouring out my anger.
“Wow,” I heard Trent utter at my burst.
“You won’t understand, Kitty Cat. It’s a long story,” Cadell said.
Lowering my hands down, I sat down on my bed and began to regret my actions. “If I had seen this coming, I would have thought of a different plan that would pin both Allen and Fiona down. Now the people want all damsels to return back to the mansion for a rematch! I am not going anywhere!” I swayed my head.
“No matter the rules or order, I will not turn up. Besides…” I got to my feet, remembering something. “The Queen doesn’t like me. I bet she’d be thrilled when she learns that I’m not taking part in the game! That’s… that’s good.”
“Way much better. It feels nice when you are the Queen’s least favorite,” Cadell chuckled, wrapping his arm around a confused Trent.
“Wait, the Queen doesn’t like you? As in you, Evolet.” He pointed at me and I nodded.
He was amazed to hear this. “Okay, I need to know how it happened. Someone should tell me.”
“Oh, Trent. It’s a long story,” Cadell smirked, patting him on the head.
Trent lifted his eyes at Cadell and said, glaring at him, “Then start talking, Lazy old man.”
“Someone’s pushing my button. Hohoho! Don’t blame me when Kitty returns to his pack as Alpha Headless, because I will sweep him to the level of no return,” Cadell threatened, taking off his jacket and setting his fists for a fight.
Trent was doing the same thing! He rolled up his sleeve to his elbow and got into position!
“Hey! Stop that you two!” I sparked, standing in their middle. “If you attack yourselves, I swear I’m going to…”
“What’s going on there, Evolet?!” Mom yelled outside my room, shocking us.
She’s awake!
Cadell and Trent immediately shifted into their animal, before Mom came knocking on my door. I opened it and Mom popped her head inside, hovering her eyes around.
“Who were you talking to?” She asked, settling her gaze on both Cadell and Trent. They were now on my bed, acting all innocent.
“Um… I was talking to the pets.”
“For real?” Her nostrils shut out, staring at me with doubt. “It sounded like you were having a serious conversation with someone and not… them.” She pointed at the guys, still finding it hard to believe me.
To prove I was really talking to Wolfy and Kitty, I told Mom about Fiona’s case and the Queen’s sudden decision. “I was expressing my frustration towards the order. She wants every maiden to have a rematch! And… and I don’t want to be a part of it.”
“Fiona? Rematch?” Mom didn’t look pleased.
“Yeah. I had no one to share this with so I came to them. At least they listen,” I said, walking towards the bed and sitting in-between Cadell and Trent with my hands falling on them.
Mom hummed, crossing her arms while stepping fully into my room. She swayed her head and said, “You aren’t taking part in that rematch, that’s for sure.”
“That’s exactly what I said.”
“But I’m more surprised about Fiona’s case. I feel… Wow.” Her eyes popped.
Indeed she was astonied by the news. Who knew that Miss Holier than thou was the baddest bitch alive? “And her mother bumped into me last night, while I was heading to work. She gave me an advance invitation to her daughter’s mate bonding ceremony, making fun of me. Who knew that the table’s would turn around and they’d end up being the laughing stock of the pack?”
So, that woman even dared to mock my mother?
It’s a good thing she’s receiving the punishment now. That shoulder she likes to raise has now fallen flat.
Good for them.
“Well, it’s the Goddess that knows best.”
“Yeah,” I agreed, nodding my head.
Mom was about to leave but stopped. She looked at me and said, “Before I forget…”
Her hand came lifting at my face, making me wonder if I had something on me without knowing. Only for her to ask. “Your necklace… Since when did it have a wolf on it?” She questioned, pointing at it.
I felt my heart beat skip at her query. I completely forget about my Mom and how she’d react when she sees that the necklace on me is different.
It skipped my mind all these while, and now…
“Where did it come from?” She lifted her brow, taking hold of the little wolf around my neck.
“Um… I got it from…” I glanced at Cadell, who was trying to tell me something with his eyes. I failed to grab on time, until he came pouncing on Mom, playing roughly.
That’s when Cadell’s presence gave me an idea.
“Wolfy! I got bought a little Wolf ornament that looked like him. It was pretty, so I attached to my necklace,” I lied, smiling at Mom.
Her face expression made it hard for me to tell if she was buying my tale or not. But at the end of it all, Mom gave in, believing my story.
“It’s nice. Just don’t mess around with it. You know it’s the only thing that reminds you of your father,” she warned, reminding me of Dad.
There was this mixed feeling of sadness and desperation engulfing me. I was missing my father and at the same time, I wanted to know how he got the necklace from Cadell.
Mom noticed my mood and said, “I didn’t say you should get all emotional. Just keep it safe, okay?”
“Okay, Mom,” I promised, watching her exit my room with a bit of pain written all over her.
She still misses Dad but tries to hide it away from me.
I understand her feeling. After all, she’s my mother. That’s why I want to be there by her side, no matter the state of our relationship.
.
That night, Mom went to work earlier than her usual time. I was alone with Cadell and Trent, who soon began to make their own plans to leave the house. Meaning I’ll be all by myself in the house!
“Hey, you can’t stop me tonight, Eve. You have kept me away from my customers, and I refuse to be held down,” Cadell argued with me, refusing to stay.
I got mad and sparked at him, “I hope the girl you meet gives you a punch in the eyes!”
“Ha! It won’t hurt me. But she’ll be soaking in my arms when I retaliate, If you know what I mean.” He smirked with pride, getting on my nerves.
Angrily, I tossed my shoe at Cadell while he was leaving, but it didn’t touch the big head since he swiftly left the house, averting my attack.
“Pervert!” I yelled, kicking the couch.
Trent, who was still around, saw the whole drama between Cadell and I. He was leaning against the wall when I kicked the couch, uttering no word.
“Why are you looking at me? Aren’t you heading out too?” I asked, frowning at him since he was leaving me as well.
Trent responded, “I am, but with this mood of yours… I don’t know any more. You might throw your other shoe at me, just like Cadell.”
Ouch! He makes it sound like I’m some kind of villain.
Sighing out, I apologized to Trent for my behavior and promised not to hit him. “It’s just that I feel annoyed whenever that stubborn man says he’s going out to have some fun! I mean… Your outing is sensible. You are the Alpha of your pack, and it’s important for you to be present when your people need you.”
“True,” he nodded, agreeing with me.
“But Cadell! All he does when he gets the opportunity to roam the night is to study a woman’s body! Then he finds the one with the largest melon and goes on a date with her! God, I feel like… ARGH!” I grabbed the wall and scrambled myself like a complete lunatic.
Trent chuckled at my behavior, but went shut on seeing my eyes.
“I get you, Eve. It’s really annoying,” He said, swaying his head.
“That man is mean. He knows I’m going to be alone, yet he still chose his street girlfriends over me,” I said, placing my head on the wall.
I wasn’t just feeling mad, but sad. “When will that Pervert stop his nonsense?” I muttered, getting a slight ache in my chest.
That’s when Trent suggested something that has never crossed my mind before. “Have you ever thought of following him?”
“Following Cadell? To see him getting all romantic with a girl? No thank you. I’m not like those creepy girls that stalk a guy just to see what he’s doing. I’m different.”
“I see. But what if he’s not actually seeing a girl? What if he’s lying to you?” Trent asked, lifting his brow at me.
Now why would he assume Cadell is lying about his outing? Is there something Trent knows that I don’t?
“Use this opportunity to do something different, Evolet. You might find it interesting.” He walked up to me and patted my shoulder, before leaving the house.
With what Trent had just said, I decided to head out and stalk Cadell.
Not that I’m a Prowler, I’m just… taking a walk.
“But what if Trent is right? Is Pervy Wolf doing something else than flirting with girls? I need to change fast.”
Once I was done, I exited my home and went into the pack to find Pervy Wolf.
I had no clue on where to find him at that time. So many people out tonight, roaming about in the pack.
I felt it would be hard to spot him, until… “There!” I blurted out to myself, staring Cadell.
He was leaning against a tree, watching the people passing by. He looked so quiet, innocent, and lonely.
“Why is he here?” I wondered, hiding behind a building to spy on him.
Just then, three girls walked up to Cadell and began to flaunt themselves around him.
The sight of this made me mad. Cadell was admiring the ladies and talking with them like the perv he was.
“I knew he couldn’t do without flirting with a woman. I can’t believe I wasted my time coming out to…”
“Don’t turn us down again, handsome.”
“Wait what?” My ears sprang out on hearing what one of the girls said.
“This is an opportunity for you. Just three of us, alone in a room. How about that?” The girls offered, running their hands on Cadell.
But to my greatest surprise, Cadell respectfully pulled their hands off his body and said, “It’s still a No. I’m already occupied.”
“Gosh! It’s the same answer all the time!”
“Come on, girls. We’ll try again tomorrow. This time pretty boy, we’ll be back in large numbers. You won’t resist our beauty.”
“Bye, darling.”
They waved, walking away from Cadell.
I couldn’t believe what I just witnessed.
Cadell! As in Pervy Wolf!
Did he just turn down those girls down?!
