EVOLET
Like mother, Like daughter!
I don’t know how Fiona’s mother spotted me when her eyes are supposed to be on her daughter!
Goddess! This is a problem. What can I do?
“Answer me, Evolet! Are you at the arena?!” Mom yelled, getting furious.
“Mom, I’m…”
“Don’t make me leave this place and head back to that house to find you absent!” She roared, interrupting me. “If I discover you’re not there…”
“Maybe that will be enough for you then,” I suddenly said, sounding bold. “It’s best you leave your work and head down here right now, since you feel Fiona’s mother is right and your daughter is in the wrong.”
Mom went silent. She couldn’t speak on hearing my response to her rage.
This was the best approach. Maybe, just maybe, she’ll buy my lies and stay back. I don’t want her leaving the store and storming back home, just to discover that her daughter was lying to her.
Goddess! Help me out here.
“Isn’t that right?” I questioned, still in my strong tone. “You believed what that woman said, forgetting the kind of person she is? I can’t believe you woke me up for this!” I raised my voice for the first time, trying to make my Mom feel the guilt of doubting her own child.
But the one feeling the guilt here was me. I won’t forgive myself after this.
“Hmm,” I heard Mom hum from her end, before giving a minute pause. That’s when she responded, sounding calm, “I should have thought of that in the first place. That woman must have called to mess with me since she didn’t see us there.”
“Exactly,” I sighed. “You know how angry she is after that rumor. Something must have reminded her about us, that’s why she called to irritate you,” I said, adding more reasons so Mom would listen.
“Now…” I faked out a yawn, so she’d believe me. “You can get back to work. I want to sleep.”
“Alright. Good night.”
“Good night, Mom,” I responded in a sleepy voice, patiently waiting for her to end the call.
And the moment I heard the beep… “Thank you Goddess!” I gasped out heavily, leaning against the tree next to me. “So scary, but I made it. Oh, thank you heavens!” I chuckled, lowering my head down, catching my breathe.
CHEERS! The sound of crowds rejoicing clamorously from the arena, gained my attention.
With this sudden call from Mom, I no longer felt like staying to watch the game to the end. “At least we have seen Derby in action already. I think it’s time to head back home. I don’t know why I feel troubled after that call with Mom. What if she decides to pay me a surprise visit?” I shivered, scared to even picture it.
Placing my phone in my pocket, I decided to head back to the arena and get both Trent and Cadell when suddenly… “It’s so nice to see you again… Omega.”
That voice… I recognize it!
It sent a sudden wave around my body, forcing me to turn around and meet Gamma Dave standing close to the same tree I was just leaning on not too long!
What’s he doing out here?!
“My apologies. Did I scare you?” He grinned, stepping away from the tree.
“What… What are you doing…” Before I could ask completely, my eyes caught sight of four other men stepping out from their hide out, flashing their wolf eyes at me!
Their position, their movement… Something is fishy here. They are up to something no good!
“I’m so glad that you came here to watch the games, Evolet,” Gamma Dave said, running his right hand through his hair. “I already made so much arrangements to pay you a visit at your place, but it seems the Goddess had a better plan for good old me.” He chuckled, shimmering his wolf eyes at my direction.
My heart came pounding as I sensed the danger lurking before my eyes. This bastard saw me entering the arena from the start! It’s obvious! He has been keeping his eyes on me until he got the opportunity to trap me out here!
Shit! What am I going to do?!
Cadell, Trent… What is wrong with me?! I left them behind to protect my seat! This is bad!
“How about we resume from where we stopped, huh? We were having so much fun before that dog you call a pet, showed up and ruined it all,” He said, taking his steps towards me, slowly.
His accomplices did the same. Only that they were stylishly spreading out to trap me in their circle.
I saw this quickly, but acted like I didn’t notice it. Instead, I drew back carefully, just to keep my distance away from Gamma Dave.
The creep tilted his head to the side, questioning me, “Where are your bodyguards?”
“What bodyguards are you talking about?” I asked, dragging my feet further away from him.
“Don’t think I’m here to play silly games, Omega!” He raised his voice, increasing the pace of his steps. “Your boys! The same animals you summoned to attack my Alpha! Where are they?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about! If you’re referring to the strangers that dumped your Alpha in the right place he belongs, then I’m sorry…” I shrugged, glancing at the men moving swiftly from the corner of my eyes, “I don’t know them. They just helped me and left.”
“If you think I’m going to buy that crap, then you’re stupid,” he groaned, increasing my fear.
“Strangers? Really? If they are strangers like you said, then how come you’ve been hanging around the pack with them?” He questioned, pulling out his phone to reveal a photo of Cadell and I racing to that corner after Cadell flirted with that blonde!
Then another photo of Trent, Cadell and I, walking into a hidden spot!
I was stunned. Where did he get these pictures?!
“Strangers my foot. I knew you’ll deny it when I ask. But this Gamma is way smarter than you think, Evolet. I followed you and those idiots, but before I could get you trapped, you three were gone.” He tightened his grip on his phone, crushing it with his strength. “And for you to deny the truth, proves my suspicion was right.”
“What nonsense are you yammering? Do I look like some kind of project to explore?” I glanced once more, noticing one of the opening back to the arena. If I can make it back, I can get Cadell and Trent to protect me.
Goddess, please give me strength.
“You know what I’m talking about, Eve. That night with Beta Dean…”
“Beta Dean?” My heart skipped, recalling what happened to that crazy Beta that night with Cadell.
“You never stepped out to look for your dog. Oh no, no, no! You lied!” He pointed, grinning widely. “Dean told me everything. You where alone with him that night, and something happened to him. You where there and you saw what happened.”
My heart pounded as I came to a halt, glancing at the entrance then at the Gamma and his accomplice, getting myself ready to make a break for it.
“He was smashed till his bone were shattered. He almost lost his life, but he survived and told us who was responsible… That bloody Rogue,” he mentioned, rubbing his chin. “And I am a hundred percent sure that you know him. Isn’t that right?” He chuckled, flashing his eyes intensely.
Damn it! No wonder he was demanding for both Cadell and Trent! He has been suspecting them ever since he saw that video of Allen being humiliated!
“Your bodyguards… One of them is the Rogue and the other his partner. That damned Rogue who’s going to get his head chopped off when I finally get my hands on him… And you will bring me to him!” He groaned, moving towards me with speed.
As soon as he made his move, I swiftly dashed for the entrance, running with all my strength! Two of his accomplices came in front and almost grabbed me, but I was able to go over them smartly, running faster.
But before I could dive in and be noticed by the people passing by, Gamma Dave appeared in my front with speed, launching a punch right on my chest!
“Oof!”I puffed out in pain, tumbling back with my body roughly rolling on the ground with speed!
My back slammed against a car, putting a stop to my tumbles. The alarm of the car came buzzing out loudly, as I coughed out hard, placing my hand on my chest with my head lifting to see the Gamma and his men coming.
Their wolf eyes glowed in the dark night, indicating the intensity of the danger I was in. My heart could no longer beat out in fear, but struggle for survival. I felt the adrenaline running through my head, forcing me to my feet.
And just when I got my stamina, my whole body vibrated in a flash, forcing me to look up to see one of Gamma Dave’s men coming at me with speed!
He was coming straight at me in a flash, but in my eyes… he was a bit slow!
Without hesitating, I positioned myself and launched a powerful kick in-between the legs of this idiot, forcing out a cry of pain from his mouth.
He shouted like crazy but went shut when my fist came colliding with his jaw, removing two of his teeth!
It was shocking to see how I was able to do that, but I had no time to celebrate the activity of my hidden strength. My life is in danger.
The others came at me furiously, and I had to put Cadell’s training into practice, servicing them with the beating of their life.
Though they were striking back like wild animals, I had to stand my ground and defend myself before they succeed in bringing me down.
And just as I was trying to protect myself from being taken hostage, my eyes immediately caught Gamma Dave making a secret move on me, thinking I didn’t see him.
But I surprised him by punching him on the chest, the same way he did to me. And with speed, he flew backwards, bringing a tree down with his body!
I gasped, looking down at my fist then at these hooligans. But on hearing the cheers from the arena, my heart went weak.
“Cadell, Trent,” I called softly with sadness, knowing well that I can’t head back to the arena with Gamma Dave and his men in my way.
There’s only one way out of this, and I hope it works.
Quickly, I turned around and began to run away from the arena, far from the mansion. When I looked back, I saw Gamma Dave and his accomplices coming, walking slowly.
That Crazy Gamma had this nasty grin on his face, as he began to run after me, shifting into his Werewolf along with his men.
His intentions towards me are clear. To fish the Rogue, he is ready to take my life no matter what. He wants to bring Cadell out from hiding.
“We shall see who gets the last laugh after tonight,” I panted, racing ahead with speed.
