EVOLET
“Thank you for staying, Derby. I was feeling kinda… lonely,” I said, holding Derby’s hands while glancing at the wolf laying his head on my lap, with a pervy smile across his face.
Creep! If not for Derby that came over to see me, I wonder what Cadell would have done.
He has been acting like a sick pup yearning for his mother’s touch, trying to get Derby to leave. But I wasn’t stupid.
That’s a grown man pretending to be a wolf, fooling poor Derby into thinking he’s adorable and innocent.
She almost left the room, but I stopped her by claiming to be lonely, so I won’t be left with Cadell.
This creep has a lot of nasty things going on in that head of his.
“It’s okay, Eve. I’m just happy that I have someone to talk. Honestly, I don’t have any friends. I’m just a loner who’s trying to fit in any group I find myself in,” Derby said with a smile, patting my shoulder.
What she said reminded me of my own case. I don’t have friends. The one who pretended to be my bestie, turned out to be a fake.
If not for this hunt, I don’t think I would have met Derby. We just met today and she has already proven herself to be a true friend.
She’s wonderful.
Just as we were talking, I heard Cadell whining on my lap. Dropping my eyes down to look at him, I noticed he had turn over with his back now resting on my lap and his front facing me, lifting his paw with his googly eyes shimmering at me.
What’s this weirdo doing now?
“Aww! He wants you to rub his tummy. So cute!” Derby admired.
“Rub his tummy?!” I uttered in surprise, looking at Cadell again. He was smiling while putting on his face angelic eyes, confirming Derby’s words.
This Pervert! I don’t want to touch him! He’s taking advantage of this pet stuff to get me to stroke his body. He’s mad if he thinks I’ll touch him.
“Come on, Eve. Don’t leave the poor guy hanging. You know I’d have done it if he had allowed me. But Mr. Cutie here, likes his momma,” Derby said, trying to persuade me to pet Cadell.
I was going to come up with an excuse on why I can’t do that, only for Derby to mention the others, especially Fiona, and how they’d react if they saw this.
“That annoying Fiona would assume he’s not your pet. She’d claim it’s someone else pet, and accuse you of bribing the owner to help you. Girl’s like her will do anything to win.”
“Yeah, you are… right,” I agreed after a brief pause, taking my mind to Fiona.
She’s mad with the fact that I made it in without unleashing my own beast. Who knows what she’d been planning next, just to make sure I don’t win this hunt.
After all, she did tell me to the face that she’d stop me or any other lady, from being the Alpha’s Luna.
“I need to be very careful. Goddess, protect me,” I prayed within, reaching for my necklace while looking down at Cadell.
His eyes were fixed on my black necklace, before locking his gaze with mine. I couldn’t tell what was going on at that moment, but I felt… strange while staring at him, holding the chain.
Just then, Derby exclaimed out, ready to leave. “It’s almost time! I need to get ready!” she shrieked, jumping off the bed and straight for the door.
Seeing this, I panicked, tossing Cadell off my lap and following Derby, so as to stop her from leaving.
“Why don’t you wait for me to get ready first? Then when I’m done, I’ll follow you to your room and wait for you to get ready. How’s that?” I proposed, hoping Derby would agree.
But she pointed at the time and said, “No time, Eve. The Queen wants us at the dining table early. Who knows if this is part of her test. And yes…”
She poked my nose, getting excited. “Alpha Allen will be there. Make sure you are there on time.
“Derby wait.”
Without hesitating, she left, shutting the door from behind.
And as soon as the door went shut, the whole room went dark, causing my heart to skip in fear.
I didn’t bother to turn over and face the creep in my room. Instead, I grabbed the door knob, ready to race out of the room.
That’s when a strong hand pushed the door close before I could step out, terrifying me in my spot. I felt my body being turned over at once, with my back slamming against the door by that same rough hand.
I trembled while feeling my chin being taken by Cadell, who lifted my face to his point, shimmering his silver eyes at me.
He bit down on his lower lip and said, “Don’t tell me you want to leave without giving me my reward. You made a promise, Evolet. Don’t go back on it now.”
“A… A deal you… you rejected?” I stammered, trying to sound tough without gawking at that charming face of his.
“You said it yourself, last night. You didn’t want to help me because you were afraid of the Royal family, but out of the blue, you appeared to carry out half of the task!” I groaned out, pushing Cadell hard with my hands.
Still, he didn’t move. He just lifted his right brow, tilting his head to the side, while I continued to talk. “I did most of the work, not you! So don’t expect any reward because you’re getting nothing!”
Again, I slammed my palms forcefully against his chest, trying to push him off. But my plan backfired in an instant.
Cadell quickly grabbed my hands and pinned it above my head against the door with one hand, grabbing my chin with the other, tightly.
I gasped out in his hold, staring into his daring eyes as he said with a smirk across his face, “Deal or not. As long as I did as you wanted and got you qualified in your silly hunt, I deserve that reward.”
His finger caressed my lips slowly, sliding down to my neck with his face drawing closer to mine. My breathing grew heavier by the minute, wondering if he’d take the kiss from me by force.
“I bet if it was Alpha Allen, you would have gotten down on your knees and given yourself to him, just like every other damsels.”
His hand slid back to my chin, as I felt the tip of his nose touching my neck, smooching every corner it slithered to.
I heaved on feeling his touch. It made my whole body heat up, causing my eyes to shut slowly, still battling to set my hands free from his hold.
“Trust me, Evolet. Your Alpha is no match against me.” He sniffed my skin, as his hand left my chin, joining the other that had me pinned against the door, with his chest pressing against mine.
The strength of his muscles came on me. I was lost, feeling the body of a hunk like Cadell.
It was hard to resist.
His grip had loosen a bit, yet I didn’t fight him off. I Just remained in his custody, feeling his body against mine, as he whispered to me in the dark, “I’ll prove it to you one day. And when you see it yourself…” His lips touched my cheek, sending an icy wave around my body.
I gasped out, turning my head immediately, so as to stop him from torturing me any further.
That’s when he chuckled, saying, “You’ll come begging me to take that kiss. And don’t worry… I’ll gladly take it.”
And just like that, he released me.
But on opening my eyes to look at Cadell, he was gone. The window was opened wide, showing that he left in a swift before I could even give him a piece of my mind.
“That… Creep!” I groaned, angry with his action. Drawing closer to the window to look for him, I became… concerned for Cadell. “He better stay out of sight, because if he gets caught… I won’t forgive him,” I frowned.
Staring out to the night, I found myself reminiscing on Cadell’s touch. My hand slowly touched my cheek where his lips had stroke. It made my body shiver, reliving the vibration I had felt when he held me.
“What’s wrong with you, Evolet?! The dinner!” I panicked, remembering the Queen’s order.
Quickly, I got myself ready and dashed out of the room to join the others.
