Jayden could remember vividly the day Raymond first told them about Lina. He was so confident that he would never fall in love with her back then, and now, it’s another story entirely. Jayden could see how deep Raymond had fallen for his little wife. If he had a doubt about it earlier, the day Lina was kidnapped confirmed his doubt.
He had never seen Raymond lose himself that way since their years of friendship. The Raymond he witnessed that day, was the one who was deeply in love, who would do anything to save his lover. Jayden was still expecting Raymond to deny having any romantic feelings for Lina, seeing how he clenched his jaw.
After what Dylan said, and also seeing the gloating look on Jayden’s face, Raymond’s grip on his liquor glass tightened, his eyes narrowed as he remembered all he said about his marriage with Lina, in this same room three months ago. Had he known he would fall in love with Lina this early, he would never have spout out that nonsense he said in the past. However, there is no medicine for regrets.
He still remembered Jayden’s words that night; ‘if there wasn’t any attraction between you two, you wouldn’t have wanted to marry her just because you slept with her. There are many women around you can use for revenge, why this particular one?’ Jayden had said that night, wanting him to see what exactly he was getting himself into back then.
However, the revenge he wanted to serve hot to Ashley, blinded him from seeing Jayden’s point then. Now that he finally understands his feelings for Lina, he finally came to realize that he had been attracted to her since that day Lina had mistakenly opened his hotel room door, colliding with him.
Taking a deep breath, Raymond finally made up his mind to clear his friends about his feelings for Lina. He knew that he had to make them understand sooner, before they mistakenly spout nonsense someday when Lina is around.
“Dylan,” Raymond called his drunk friend, whose eyes seemed blurry, but he was still conscious of his surroundings. “What you said earlier was nothing but the truth.” Raymond said, his hand clenching into a fist. Jayden couldn’t help letting out a low chuckle, thinking that Raymond was still confused with his feelings for Lina, but Raymond’s next words made him realise he was mistaken.
“However, those thoughts have long been abandoned. I didn’t see Lina as my revenge tool anymore. I saw her as someone I want to spend the rest of my life with. The mother of my unborn children. My life partner.” Raymond said in one breath, his fast beating heart finally calming down as he said those words. It was like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders.
Jayden was surprised for a few seconds. He had not expected his stubborn friend to accept and confess his feelings so quickly. He was quite happy for Raymond. He just hoped all would be fine for the couple in the future, but he doubted that.
He knew Ashley was someone who would go any length to achieve her goals. If she knew Raymond had fallen for someone else aside from her, she might go berserk. He just hoped Lina was able to be strong in the future, and face the challenges of being with Raymond one after the other.
Jayden stood up from his seat and walked up to Raymond. He sat beside him, placing a reassuring palm on his shoulder. “I’m happy for you man, you finally get what you deserve. You also deserve to be happy.” Jayden patted Raymond’s shoulder lightly, showing his support to whatever decision Raymond made.
Just as Raymond was about to say something, Dylan burped, looking like he wanted to throw up. He stood up and walked towards his friends. Jayden threw him a disgusting look, not liking that Dylan was always drunk after one or two glasses of liquor.
“As a doctor, don’t you know how to control yourself if you can’t drink?” Jayden spat out loud, earning a chuckle from Dylan.
“Who said a doctor can’t get drunk?” Dylan, who was almost swaying forth and back, dropped the liquor glass in his hand, slamming it on the table, making a loud thud. Luckily, it didn’t break with Dylan’s full force.
“I’m so pitiful among you guys. All of you already have partners. Raymond, who we thought wouldn’t get married in this life, was even the one to get a beautiful, loving wife first. What a shame. I don’t have a girlfriend, talk less of having someone to get married to. Why would grandpa give me three months to look for a wife? I’m screwed.”
Dylan lamented, making quite a show for his friends. Jayden didn’t even spare him a glance. He fiddled with his shirt button in boredom, while Raymond tapped his fingers rhythmically on his lap, looking at Dylan’s free display in boredom. He finally understood why Dylan had gotten drunk. It turned out to be that Grandpa Glems is pressuring him to look for a woman and marry.
“Anytime I go on a date with a woman, I always receive emergency calls from the hospital. Who is the fucking bastard setting me up, and doesn’t want me to enjoy the warm of having a woman in my life!” Dylan exclaimed, his voice covering the soft music playing in the background.
Dylan squinted his eyes, stepping forward as his shoes made a heavy sound on the rug covered floor, his finger pointing in Jayden’s direction. “Tell me, is it you that doesn’t want me to have a woman in my life, just because you are jealous of my beauty and masculine strength?” Dylan muttered under his breath, his voice slurred.
“Are you asking for a beating Dylan? It’s like you are not drunk enough.” Jayden uncrosses his legs, his eyes locked on Dylan, who was almost a foot closer to him. “Come, let’s drink more and see who is stronger. What a joke!” Jayden sneered. There is none of the four brothers who isn’t handsome. When has he, Jayden, been jealous of someone’s beauty? He thought as he almost kicked Dylan’s ass.
Raymond, who was enjoying the show, couldn’t help raising his fist to his mouth, trying to hide his smile as he coughed slightly. It was once in a blue moon Dylan acted this way. This was quite a show. He wished Nicholas was there to take a video of Dylan, and showed him when he became sober.
“Humph, I won’t argue with you anymore, you dimwit.” Dylan snorted, before making his way to the door, staggering out of the room. His friends were not worried about his well-being at all. His bodyguards were positioned outside the door. They would take care of their master.
A few minutes after Dylan left, leaving Raymond and Jayden in the room, Jayden broke the silence between him and Raymond.
“Why have you not taken down the trending news off the charts? Are you enjoying the free publicity you are getting from it? Jayden sneered, still angry at Raymond, and with Dylan’s earlier accusations, he was even more angrier.
“If you are worried about the implications of this on your love life, don’t worry, by this time tomorrow, Rihanna will be in your arms.” Raymond said, before standing up. “I won’t see you off.” After saying that, he also left the room. He could feel Jayden’s angry glare on his back. That didn’t stop him as he took powerful strides out of the room.
“Those fucking bastards!” Jayden threw a bottle of liquor at the door in anger, after Raymond left. He chugged down the remaining liquor in his glass in anger before he also stood up, and left the room, followed by his bodyguards.
“Where to sir?” Raymond’s driver, James asked, looking at his boss from the rear view mirror.
Raymond, who closed his eyes in exhaustion said; “to the mansion.”
As the car sped out of Heaven’s Club, making its way to the mansion, Raymond changed his mind as he said; “drive to Palm-Grove district.”
When did the boss leave the madam that he had started missing her? I hope they clear their misunderstandings and come back together soon. The driver thought as he stepped on the wheel, accelerating towards Lina’s place.
