“Don’t you want your fiance to pay back for what he did to you? Don’t tell me you want to forgive and let’s go off what he and your step sister did to you?”
Hearing this makes Lina snap out of her thoughts. She stared at him for some time before asking him, “why me of all people?”
“It doesn’t matter who it is as long as I can get a wife.” Raymond replied with a wicked smile hanging on his lips.
“And did you think I would be happy just because you brought a contract here stating I would marry you?”
“Interesting,” Raymond muttered, staring at her. “How am I sure this isn’t a trap and it will be a favourable contract for me.”
“Why don’t you check what the contract entails before you know if it’s favourable to you or not?”
Since the document was still in her hands, she started flipping through it. Seeing the content of the document amazed her. It was stated that during the one year period of the contract marriage, they have to live in the same house as couples in order to make it look real to the outside world, especially to the Waltons family.
It also stated that after a year, if any of
the participants wants to back out from the
marriage, he or she has the liberty of doing so. It also entails that participant “A” does not have the right to interfere in participant “B” life.
Both are not allowed to be in a promiscuous relationship with the opposite gender. There also shouldn’t be scandals about chaotic private life. If any is found out, the contract will be dissolved immediately.
It also stated that she would be given one million dollars after signing the contract, and when the contract ended.
Seeing that the conditions were favourable to her, and she also wanted her fiance to regret his decision of choosing her step sister over her, she decided to sign the contract.
“I’m willing to be your contracted wife on one condition.”
“Name it,” Raymond said. “You have to help me find out the reason behind my mother’s sudden death.”
Hearing this makes Raymond frown his face, due to some reason. Seeing the changes in his expression, she thought he didn’t want to help her with her request.
“I’ve been suspecting that my mom’s death was not natural, since my dad brought back my stepmother and my step sister, but I was young back then. I also don’t know how to find it out or who to tell that’s why I kept this to myself.”
“And since I grew up, I’ve been looking for evidence on this, but my network is small, and I’m not getting anything out of my investigation. If you can promise to help me with this, then I can also promise to be your contract wife, by signing these papers.”
She said while waving the contract document in her hands. Looking at the mischievous way of her waving the papers, his lips curled up and he spat out “Deal.”
Hearing that makes Lina’s tense heart calm down. She smiled as she signed the contract happily. Extending her hands towards him, she stated; “it’s nice doing business with you.”
Seeing her gesture makes Raymond smile happily. Looking at her fair hand, with those well trimmed nails of hers, looking round and sexy, wanting him to suck them, he shook her hand and brought her hands to his lips kissing the back of her hands flirtatiously.
It was as if she had been electrocuted as his lips touched her hand. She took her hand away from his hand immediately, which made Raymond smile.
“Nice doing business with you too, Mrs Walton.” Hearing this makes Lina’s ears turn red as she blushes. She coughed trying to cover her embarrassment.
“Since today is your so-called wedding, what are you planning to do about it?” Mentioning this makes Lina remember about the so-called wedding event. She looked sad hearing about this. Even though Daniel betrayed her, she has been with him for the past four years. They can be said to be childhood sweethearts.
Seeing her sad expression, Raymond does not feel good, even though he knows that he doesn’t have the right to make her happy for the moment, he wishes he can always see her smiling and not always frowning.
Lina looked up at Raymond and said, “I planned to attend the wedding.” Hearing this makes Raymond’s facial expression twisted.
“Don’t tell me you still want to marry that bastard.” Raymond roared in a cold voice that makes people shiver.
“And what does that have to do with you?”
She said with a shaky voice. Gosh, she regretted saying that but since she had said it already, there is nothing she can do about it.
“Woman! I dare you to say that again.” Raymond said with a cold voice which made Lina shiver.
“I’m sorry,” she said with a low voice above a whisper.
Hearing that, Raymond’s lips curled up which surprised Lucas, his assistant. The smile instantly depleted the cold air just now. He thought he was dreaming seeing that smile on his boss’ face. When has his boss ever smiled? “I might be dreaming.” He said to himself.
Seeing that his boss was still smiling. He sighed, it’s like I have to treat Miss Robert well from now on, since she can make my boss smile so happily.
Not knowing what Lucas was thinking about, Raymond asked her, “Are you going to the wedding in order to marry your ex-fiance?”
Without caring about the ‘ex’ he put before the fiance, she said, “I’m not that stupid to marry someone who just wants me for my mother’s legacy.”
Hearing that surprised Raymond. Even though he has gotten a little information about her, and he also knows that it was her fiance and her step sister scheme that sent her to his bed, he didn’t know that the reason for the marriage was to get her mother’s legacy from her.
How can a man be so pathetic to want to marry someone just to scheme against her later in the future. He was so mad hearing this.
