“Zeus has decided to take a bride.” Alpha Darren was in his office when he received a text.
He immediately called his intel. “What did you say? How did that happen?!”
“There’s been an announcement. The alpha’s mother was able to convince him after all.”
Darren was pleased to hear the news. For the longest time, he wondered the best way to put down his brother once and for all.
When he finally met his weak fated mate, he realized that no matter how much he hated Augusta, he couldn’t imagine her death.
Although he treated her terribly, he did so with a deliberate restraint in order not to kill her. When he chose another woman worthy to be his mate, his wolf had almost died from the grief.
Ever since then, his wolf’s appearance and communication dwindled, leaving him bereft of a relationship with his better half.
“Monitor the situation.” He ordered. “As soon as that abomination picks a bride, eliminate her.”
“Yes Sir.”
Darren dropped the call and headed to the Blood Race pack hospital. His chosen mate hasn’t left the hospital since his brother’s visit.
When Zeus said he wanted to leave a mark, he meant every word. After he burned his chosen mate from her blood, it left unbelievable scars behind.
No wolf, not even the lowest or weakest wolf bears a scar. This was because of the high healing genes they possessed. However , after Zeus’s work, his mate was yet to heal.
The doctors explained that the scars would take a long time to naturally heal because it was done with that intent. Darren hated it.
He couldn’t look at his mate without seeing his evil brother’s hand work and it grieved him everyday he returned and there was little to no progress.
How could he show off his bride if she was covered with scars that refused to disappear? Even the lowest ranked wolf didn’t look so hideous.
The worst part of things was that his wolf didn’t care. He didn’t even mind that his mate died because he never accepted or regarded her as one.
It was so ridiculous as his beast thought it a good thing if she died in order to pursue his actual mate. Asif he’d ever spend his life with that weakling!
The accumulated result of these was an increased frustration and hatred for Zeus. Darren looked over his mate who had gone through a cosmetic surgery that did little to nothing of the scars.
“She has to redo it.” Darren told the doctor without a moment’s thought. “Prepare her for the next procedure.”
The doctor who had performed three cosmetic procedures on Luna didn’t approve.
“I’m sorry, Alpha.” he started modestly. “I believe that sending Luna to another procedure is risky,” he explained. “Anymore and she could be in danger of losing her life.”
Darren wore a grave look. “Did I ask your opinion?” he roared. “Have you forgotten your place?!”
The doctor fell to his knees. “forgive me Alpha!” he said with his head bowed.
Darren didn’t care. “You carry out that procedure and many more until I get the desired results.” the doctor nodded feverishly. “Do you understand?!”
“Yes sir!”
“And if you fail to restore my bride to her immaculate and beautiful nature, I will have your head.”
Darren left before the doctor could utter a word. He returned to his mate who was now awake and in pain.
“You will have another procedure.” he informed her, curling a loft of her hair with his pointy finger.
He couldn’t even look at her. She wasn’t the strong and beautiful woman he’d chosen.
“I don’t think that will solve anything” She murmured dejectedly. “Alpha Zeus intended to do this, I can’t change how I look. I Don’t want to go through any more surgeries.”
The woman’s eyes glazed with unshed tears. “It’s too painful. You don’t even look at me anymore. Don’t you love me?”
Darren’s brows twitched at her words. “You have to go through this procedure. No matter what it takes.” he said in a firm voice. “You are my mate. The Luna of the Blood Race pack. It is your duty to be the best woman out there.”
Tears flowed from her eyes. “At the expense of my life?” she asked in a soft tone and caught Darren off guard.
“You eavesdropped on my conversation?” Darren sounded offended.
“The doctor told me.” she explained. “I agree with him. I don’t think my body can handle any more.”
“My wolf is exhausted from the amount of energy she uses to heal my body.” She coughed. “I can’t continue trying to perfect my skin, Darren.”
“You will and you must.” Darren stared her in the eye to show his seriousness. “My brother cannot win this war. He did this to disgrace me. You must defeat this!”
The young Lady felt frustrated. “Don’t you understand? I can’t do this anymore. My wolf can’t even heal my body. Going into more procedures will only worsen the damage and add to the work that should be done!”
Darren’s jaws tightened. “You will go through with the procedure. And that’s final.”
He turned to leave but was stopped by his mate’s final words. “What if I die Darren?” she sobbed. “What if I don’t make it out alive?!”
Darren turned around with a stormy look. They held each other’s gaze for a moment before he spoke.
“You won’t.”
Time passed and soon it was time for the contest. Tara and some girls were picked by Mrs Georgina who planned to test five girls based on their strengths.
It was a tournament that the NightShade pack looked forward to enjoying after the recent incidents.
June on the other hand was finally recovered from her near death experience. Her training resumed and she noticed something off about Zeus.
The first was his eye color.
Zeus had striking red eyes when he was using his powers but other than that his eye color dabbled between red white and black.
A rich mix of colours depending on his mood. However these days she couldn’t get over his rich cocoa brown eyes.
A part of her knew that her affinity to his eyes were related to a certain ex-husband of hers who was a photocopy of Zeus with shorter hair.
“You are staring.” He said without looking at her.
The duo were at the training grounds preparing for a run. The doctor recommended she start her training with basic exercises and though she felt it would be a tussle to run, that by Zeus he Shockingly agreed.
“I’m not.” June piped. Feeling caught.
Zeus turned around and her heart skipped a bit. “Let’s get going before they come out.”
June was ready to push her frail body to a sprint when Zeus held her by the arm and dragged her closer.
Her breath hitched. “W-what?”
Zeus silently loosened her hair which cascaded down her back. June swallowed at the intensity of his proximity.
“I didn’t apologise.” he said as he packed her hair into a firmer ponytail. “I was a dick the last time.”
Hearing him say those words out loud and with a straight face did something to June. Who was this man and what was with his multiple personality?
“Would you ever forgive me?” he trailed his finger down her face and stared into her eyes. “Can we start over, Augusta?”
