I walked further into the Hall as I was instructed to go in as I made contact with Alaric and stopped as I saw a familiar looking back and near.
Brook was sitting right in front of the person while Kia was standing next to him but I still couldn’t believe it was who I thought it was, maybe I was just seeing things.
“Go on… They’re waiting, ” Alaric said, urging me to go in and meet them but my leg was stiff as refused to move.
If the man I was seeing is Rex, then what is he doing here? Why did he finally show up after making me wait for him like a fool?
I didn’t know how to react if I finally walk to face him and that was why I couldn’t move. What was I supposed to say? Why was he here now?
“Go. ” Alaric whispered and pushed me towards them and I stumbled, making a noise and catching their attention.
That was when I saw her. I didn’t notice someone was standing next to Rex at all before because I was too focused on the fact that he finally came and that he was right in front of me.
I stared at the middle aged woman who was staring back at me with a curious look on her face as though she was expecting someone different from me.
I didn’t care much about her instead I turned to face Rex who was watching me and I looked around him.
The people gathered at the table were all people I have had contact with except two of the guys with Rex.
“Rain,” he said softly in that his voice that makes me want to forgive him for not living up to his promise.
“Rex, it’s good to see you finally decided to show up,”I said, not allowing myself to succumb to him.
“Yeah..,” He said, ignoring the fact that he was supposed to apologise to me and turning to face the two guys next to him, stretching his hands as he introduced them.
“Say hello, this is Rain and Rain, these are the guts from my pack, Seth and Adrian. You know Sean, don’t you?” He asked, also pointing at Sean.
I nodded my head in response still fuming at the fact that he didn’t reply to me and when I turned to face Sean, it dawned on me that Hawk wasn’t among the people he was with.
It was strange and a bit surprising because Hawk was always going everywhere with him and for him to miss this sort of gathering, it must mean that he’s probably sick something.
I stared at Rex and then back at the woman behind him, giving him a sign to introduce us but he didn’t get the sign.
“Come here, Rain,” Kia ordered, glaring at the both of us.
I looked at Rex again this time, waiting for him to say something but he simply nodded his head especially when he noticed Kia was getting up by himself and coming to me.
Kia pulled me away from them and held my hands tightly to stop me from trying to get to them and that was when the woman behind Rex spoke.
“Son,” She murmured softly but loud enough for me to hear as she gently nudged Rex’s hands.
Son?? This middle aged woman is Rex’s mother??!
I turned to observe her again to see if she bares ant resemblance to Rex at all or if she was just trying to make a statement by calling Rex son.
Her hair was jet black and long just like mine but hers was wavy, she was average in height and have a round face which was different from Rex’s sharp jawline.
I noticed that she had a scar across her face, a small one almost not noticeable but because I was scanning her face so intently, I was able to see it.
I didn’t see a resemblance between her and Rex but the only thing I noticed that they both have in common was the fact that she had this calm aura around her almost as if she doesn’t talk much, This was the same aura that Rex has except that his was more dangerous than hers.
I noticed she kept on looking at Kia with fear in her eyes and realised that she was afraid of Kia.
“Take the kids to Brook,” Kia said, staring at Alaric who was standing at the doorway.
He nodded his head and immediately turned to do as Kia had ordered even though I was trying to stop him.
“Great. Now I’m waiting for the deal,” He said, turning to face Rex and his mother.
She nodded her head and turned to Rex who cleared his throat loudly and glared at Kia.
“Bring Rain over here and we can go down to the business.”
Kia Snickered and held me closer, that was when I get something hard in his hands as he put them around my shoulder.
“Let your mother come here first. And just so you know, I have a stick next to her chest. if you try to play games with me or do anything stupid, I’m going to stake her, ” He said, the stick moving closer to my chest.
“Fine. Have it your way, ” Rex said, signalling to his mother to come towards us.
She took cautious steps towards us and I could see the fear in her eyes even though she was trying to put on a straight face.
Why was she so scared of Kia?
She stood in front of us and forced a smile on her face as she stared at Kia who smiled back at her.
“It’s good to see you again, Elena, ” He said, still smiling.
Elena? Was that her name?
She nodded her head and turned to look at me for a while before looking at him back.
“I’m here now, Kia. What’s the deal? What else do you want? Let the girl go and the kids also.”
She said it in a cold voice that u didn’t expect to be coming out of a face that looks as innocent as that.
“Now we wait… ” He answered smirking.
“Wait for what?” She asked and just as she finished talking, Brook came into the room from the other sides and smiled at both Elena and I
“About the deal… Well, I think I’ve changed my mind, ” He said, smiling at me.
” Changed your mind? What you mean by that? We had a deal!” Elena said, raising her brows at him.
“We did but I changed my mind. I just thought of it that I can make a lot of money from her.”
” Why? Why don’t you want to let her go? I thought you hated her?!” Elena asked and I suddenly became aware that I was the one they were talking about.
Right in front of my face!
“Yes, I do hate her infact but I just realized that I can make more money by impregnating her over and over again.”
I stood in shock at what he said and turned my face to Rex to be sure that he heard what Brook said but Rex was just staring at him with a cold expressing on his face.
“What did you say Brook? I heard something about the deal, what was it?” He managed to utter through clenched teeth.
“You heard me. im planning on using Rain to get more babies and sell them or maybe even use them I don’t know yet but the main thing you need to focus on here is the fact that I am not letting her go.”
He clenched his fist and I saw him take an angry step towards us but Kia hands on my chest went closer and he used the stick to pierce my neck
“If you make one more move, I’m going on stake her to death,” Kia threatened.
The threat made him stop dead in his steps and I felt my hopes dying.
“But this wasn’t the deal! This wasn’t what we planned at all. You never told us that you were going to keep her here!” Elena protested, glaring at them.
Kia told a step towards her and held her hands with a smug smile on his face.
“Elena, you must have forgotten who I am for you to actually believe me when I told you that I was agreeing to your plan. You should know that I never work according to any plan.”
Just then I felt a sudden change in the air around me and I turned to look at Rex whose eyes was already turning red.
Rex was shifting for the first time in front of me and I was curious to see what he looked like as a wolf.
His claws came out first, long and ugly looking, his limbs started to shift on its own and get hairy, that was when I became extremely shocked.
He was standing on his two feet , though they were now hairy limbs, his face was no longer visible but his body was human like.
People around me screamed and ran away while I stood staring at him in shock.
“I knew it!” Brook murmured besides me and that was when I realized that Rex was a lycan!
I thought he was a werewolf?
